H\"older estimates for degenerate complex Monge-Amp\`ere equations

Uniform $L^\infty$ and H\"older estimates were proved by the Kolodziej for complex Monge-Amp\`ere equations on compact K\"ahler manifolds with $L^p$ volume measure with $p>1$. On the other hand, establishing H\"older estimates on singular K\"ahler varieties has remained open. In this paper, we establish uniform H\"older continuity for a family of complex Monge-Amp\`ere equations on K\"ahler varieties, by developing a geometric regularization based on the partial $C^0$ estimate, i.e., quantitive Kodaira embeddings. As an application, we prove that local potentials of smoothable K\"ahler-Einstein varieties are H\"older continuous.

Diameter estimates in K\"ahler geometry II: removing the small degeneracy assumption

In this short note, we remove the small degeneracy assumption in our earlier works [10, 11]. This is achieved by a technical improvement of Corollary 5.1 in [10]. As a consequence, we establish the same geometric estimates for diameter, Green's functions and Sobolev inequalities under an entropy bound for the K\"ahler metrics, without any small degeneracy assumption.

Sobolev inequalities on K\"ahler spaces

We establish a uniform Sobolev inequality for K\"ahler metrics, which only require an entropy bound and no lower bound on the Ricci curvature. We further extend our Sobolev inequality to singular K\"ahler metrics on K\"ahler spaces with normal singularities. This allows us to build a general theory of global geometric analysis on singular K\"ahler spaces including the spectral theorem, heat kernel estimates, eigenvalue estimates and diameter estimates. Such estimates were only known previously in very special cases such as Bergman metrics. As a consequence, we derive various geometric estimates, such as the diameter estimate and the Sobolev inequality, for K\"ahler-Einstein currents on projective varieties with definite or vanishing first Chern class.

Diameter estimates in K\"ahler geometry

Diameter estimates for K\"ahler metrics are established which require only an entropy bound and no lower bound on the Ricci curvature. The proof builds on recent PDE techniques for $L^\infty$ estimates for the Monge-Amp\`ere equation, with a key improvement allowing degeneracies of the volume form of codimension strictly greater than one. As a consequence, diameter bounds are obtained for long-time solutions of the K\"ahler-Ricci flow and finite-time solutions when the limiting class is big, as well as for special fibrations of Calabi-Yau manifolds.

Moment map, convex function and extremal point

The moment map $\mu$ is a central concept in the study of Hamiltonian actions of compact Lie groups $K$ on symplectic manifolds. In this short note, we propose a theory of moment maps coupled with an $\mathrm{Ad}_K$-invariant convex function $f$ on $\mathfrak{k}^{\ast}$, the dual of Lie algebra of $K$, and study the properties of the critical point of $f\circ\mu$. Our motivation comes from Donaldson \cite{Donaldson2017} which is an example of infinite dimensional version of our setting. As an application, we interpret K\"ahler-Ricci solitons as a special case of the generalized extremal metric.

Green's functions and complex Monge-Amp\`ere equations

Uniform $L^1$ and lower bounds are obtained for the Green's function on compact K\"ahler manifolds. Unlike in the classic theorem of Cheng-Li for Riemannian manifolds, the lower bounds do not depend directly on the Ricci curvature, but only on integral bounds for the volume form and certain of its derivatives. In particular, a uniform lower bound for the Green's function on K\"ahler manifolds is obtained which depends only on a lower bound for the scalar curvature and on an $L^q$ norm for the volume form for some $q>1$. The proof relies on auxiliary Monge-Amp\`ere equations, and is fundamentally non-linear. The lower bounds for the Green's function imply in turn $C^1$ and $C^2$ estimates for complex Monge-Amp\`ere equations with a sharper dependence on the function on the right hand side.

An Analytic Proof of the Stable Reduction Theorem

The stable reduction theorem says that a family of curves of genus $g\geq 2$ over a punctured curve can be uniquely completed (after possible base change) by inserting certain stable curves at the punctures. We give a new proof of this result for curves defined over $\mathbb{C}$ using the K\"ahler-Einstein metrics on the fibers to obtain the limiting stable curves at the punctures.

Continuity of the Weil-Petersson potential

Let $\mathcal{M}_{\rm KSB}$ (resp. $\mathcal{M}_{\rm KSB}'$) be the the moduli space of $n$-dimensional K\"ahler-Einstein manifolds (resp. varieties) $X$ with $K_X$ ample. We prove that the Weil-Petersson metric on $\mathcal{M}_{\rm KSB}$ extends uniquely to the projective variety $\mathcal{M}_{\rm KSB}'$, as a closed positive current with continuous local potentials. This generalizes a theorem of Wolpert which treats the case $n=1$, and also confirms a conjecture of Berman-Guenancia. In addition, we derive uniform estimates for the volumes of sublevel sets of K\"ahler-Einstein potentials

Riemannian geometry of Kahler-Einstein currents III: compactness of Kahler-Einstein manifolds of negative scalar curvature

Let $\mathcal{K}(n, V)$ be the set of $n$-dimensional compact Kahler-Einstein manifolds $(X, g)$ satisfying $Ric(g)= - g$ with volume bounded above by $V$. We prove that after passing to a subsequence, any sequence $\{ (X_j, g_j)\}_{j=1}^\infty$ in $\mathcal{K}(n, V)$ converges, in the pointed Gromov-Hausdorff topology, to a finite union of complete Kahler-Einstein metric spaces without loss of volume. The convergence is smooth off a closed singular set of Hausdorff dimension no greater than $2n-4$, and the limiting metric space is biholomorphic to an $n$-dimensional semi-log canonical model with its non log terminal locus of complex dimension no greater than $n-1$ removed. We also show that the Weil-Petersson metric extends uniquely to a Kahler current with bounded local potentials on the KSBA compactification of the moduli space of canonically polarized manifolds. In particular, the coarse KSBA moduli space has finite volume with respect to the Weil-Petersson metric. Our results are a high dimensional generalization of the well known compactness results for hyperbolic metrics on compact Riemann surfaces of fixed genus greater than one.

On the Kahler-Ricci flow on Fano manifolds

A short proof of the convergence of the Kahler-Ricci flow on Fano manifolds admitting a Kahler-Einstein metric or a Kahler-Ricci soliton is given, using a variety of recent techniques

Kahler-Einstein Metrics and Eigenvalue Gaps

The existence of Kahler-Einstein metrics on a Fano manifold is characterized in terms of a uniform gap between 0 and the first positive eigenvalue of the Cauchy-Riemann operator on smooth vector fields. It is also characterized by a similar gap between 0 and the first positive eigenvalue for Hamiltonian vector fields. The underlying tool is a compactness criterion for suitably bounded subsets of the space of Kahler potentials which implies a positive gap.

Compactness of Kahler-Ricci solitons on Fano manifolds

In this short paper, we improve the result of Phong-Song-Sturm on degeneration of Fano K\"ahler-Ricci solitons by removing the assumption on the uniform bound of the Futaki invariant. Let $\mathcal{KR}(n)$ be the space of K\"ahler-Ricci solitons on $n$-dimensional Fano manifolds. We show that after passing to a subsequence, any sequence in $\mathcal{KR}(n)$ converge in the Gromov-Hausdorff topology to a K\"ahler-Ricci soliton on an $n$-dimensional $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano variety with log terminal singularities.

Convergence of the conical Ricci flow on S2 to a soliton

In our previous work [PSSW], we showed that the Ricci flow on S^2 whose initial metric has conical singularities \sum_{j=1}^k β_j[p_j] converges to a constant curvature metric with conic singularities (in the stable and semi-stable cases) or to a gradient shrinking soliton with conical singularities (in the unstable case). The purpose of this note is to show that in the unstable case, that is, the case where β_k>β_k'=\s_{j<k}β_j, that the limiting metric is the unique shrinking soliton with cone singularity β_k[p_\infty]+β_k'[q_\infty]. This verifies the prediction made in [PSSW].

The Ricci flow on the sphere with marked points

The Ricci flow on the 2-sphere with marked points is shown to converge in all three stable, semi-stable, and unstable cases. In the stable case, the flow was known to converge without any reparametrization, and a new proof of this fact is given. The semi-stable and unstable cases are new, and it is shown that the flow converges in the Gromov-Hausdorff topology to a limiting metric space which is also a 2-sphere, but with different marked points and hence a different complex structure. The limiting metric space carries a unique conical constant curvature metric in the semi-stable case, and a unique conical shrinking gradient Ricci soliton in the unstable case.

Degeneration of Kahler-Ricci solitons on Fano manifolds

We consider the space KR(n,F) of Kahler-Ricci solitons on n-dimensional Fano manifolds with Futaki invariant bounded by F. We prove a partial C^0 estimate for KR(n,F) as a generalization of the recent work of Donaldson-Sun for Fano Kahler-Einstein manifolds. In particular, any sequence in KR(n,F) has a convergent subsequence in the Gromov-Hausdorff topology to a Kahler- Ricci soliton on a Q-Fano variety with log terminal singularities.

Regularity of geodesic rays and Monge-Ampere equations

It is shown that the geodesic rays constructed as limits of Bergman geodesics from a test configuration are always of class $C^{1,α}, 0<α<1$. An essential step is to establish that the rays can be extended as solutions of a Dirichlet problem for a Monge-Ampere equation on a Kaehler manifold which is compact.
