We describe all automorphisms of a free metabelian anticommutative algebra of rank $n\geq 3$ over a field $K$ that move only one variable while fixing the others. Such automorphisms are called Chein automorphisms in the cases of free metabelian groups and free metabelian Lie algebras. We show that all automorphisms of a free metabelian anticommutative algebra of rank $n=2$ are linear, and that the simplest non elementary Chein automorphism of degree $3$ is absolutely wild for all $n\geq 3$.
We prove that every irreducible Poisson supermodule over the Grassmann Poisson superalgebra $G_n$ over a field of characteristic different from $2$ is isomorphic to the regular Poisson supermodule $\mathrm{Reg}\,G_n$ or to its opposite supermodule. Moreover, every unital Poisson supermodule over $G_n$ is completely reducible. If $P$ is a unital Poisson superalgebra which contains $G_n$ with the same unit then $P\cong Q\otimes G_n$ for some Poisson superalgebra $Q$. Furthermore, we classify the supermodules over $G_n$ in the category of dot-bracket superalgebras with Jordan brackets, and we prove that every irreducible Jordan supermodule over the Kantor double $\mathrm{Kan}\,G_n$ is isomorphic to the supermodule $\mathrm{Kan}\,V$, where $V$ is an irreducible dot-bracket supermodule with a Jordan bracket over $G_n$.
We study an analogue of the Andreadakis-Johnson filtration for automorphism groups of free algebras and introduce the notion of tangent Lie algebras for certain automorphism groups, defined as subalgebras of the Lie algebra of derivations. We show that, for many classical varieties of algebras, the tangent Lie algebra is contained in the Lie algebra of derivations with constant divergence. We also introduce the concepts of approximately tame and absolutely wild automorphisms of free algebras in arbitrary varieties and employ tangent Lie algebras to investigate their properties. It is shown that nearly all known examples of wild automorphisms of free algebras are absolutely wild -- with the notable exceptions of the Nagata and Anick automorphisms. We show that the Bergman automorphism of free matrix algebras of order two is absolutely wild. Furthermore, we prove that free algebras in any variety of polynilpotent Lie algebras -- except for the abelian and metabelian varieties -- also possess absolutely wild automorphisms.
The purpose of this paper is a partial progress towards classification of simple infinite dimensional Jordan superalgebras. First, we prove that the only simple infinite dimensional Jordan superalgebras with finite dimensional even parts are the superalgebras of superforms. Then we consider the superalgebras whose even parts are infinite dimensional algebras of ``Clifford type'', that is, direct sums of algebras of bilinear forms. The results of \cite{RZ} show that the number of summonds in these sums is 1 or 2. We prove that the second case is impossible and that the simple infinite dimensional Jordan superalgebras of the first type are the superalgebras of superforms.
We construct an Anick type wild automorphism $\delta$ in a 3-generated free Poisson algebra which induces a tame automorphism in a 3-generated polynomial algebra. We also show that $\delta$ is stably tame. Dedicated to the memory of professor V.A.Roman'kov
The Jacobson Coordinatization Theorem describes the structure of unitary Jordan algebras containing the algebra $H_n(F)$ of symmetric nxn matrices over a field F with the same identity element, for $n\geq 3$. In this paper we extend the Jacobson Coordinatization Theorem for n=2. Specifically, we prove that if J is a unitary Jordan algebra containing the Jordan matrix algebra $H_2(F)$ with the same identity element, then J has a form $J=H_2(F)\otimes A_0+k\otimes A_1$, where $A=A_0+A_1$ is a $Z_2$-graded Jordan algebra with a partial odd Leibniz bracket {,} an $k=e_{12}-e_{21}\in M_2(F)$ with the multiplication given by $(a\otimes b)(c\otimes d)=ac\otimes bd + [a,c]\otimes \{b,d\},$ the commutator [a,c] is taken in $M_2(F)$.
Recently V.H.L\'opez Sol\'is and I.Shestakov solved an old problem by N.Jacobson on describing of unital alternative algebras containing the $2\times 2$ matrix algebra $M_2$ as a unital subalgebra. Here we give another description of $M_2$-algebras via the 6-dimensional alternative superalgebra $B(4,2)$ and an auxiliar $\mathbf {\mit Z}_2$-graded algebra $\mit\Gamma$. It occurs that the category of alternative $M_2$-algebras is isomorphic to the category of $\mit\Gamma$-algebras. For any associative and commutative algebra $A$, we give a construction of a ${\mit \Gamma}$-algebra $\mit\Gamma(A)$, which turns to be a Jordan superalgebra; if $A$ is a domain then $\mit\Gamma(A)$ is a prime superalgebra. We describe also the free $\mit\Gamma$-algebras and construct their bases.
A new series of central elements is found in the free alternative algebra. More exactly, let $Alt[X]$ and $SMalc[X]\subset Alt[X]$ be the free alternative algebra and the free special Malcev algebra over a field of characteristic 0 on a set of free generators $X$, and let $f(x,y,x_1,\ldots,x_n)\in SMalc[X]$ be a multilinear element which is trivial in the free associative algebra. Then the element $u_n=u_n(x,x_1,\ldots,x_n)=f(x^2,x,x_1,\ldots,x_n)-f(x,x^2,x_1,\ldots,x_n)$ lies in the center of the algebra $Alt[X]$. The elements $u_n(x,x_1,\ldots,x_n)$ are uniquely defined up to a scalar for a given $n$, and they are skew-symmetric on the variables $x_1,\ldots,x_n$. Moreover, $u_n=0$ for $n=4m+2,\,4m+3$. and $u_n\neq 0$ for $n=4m,4m+1$. The ideals generated by the elements $u_{4m},\,u_{4m+1}$ lie in the associative center of the algebra $Alt[X]$ and have trivial multiplication.
The lower transcendence degree, introduced by J. J Zhang, is an important non-commutative invariant in ring theory and non-commutative geometry strongly connected to the classical Gelfand-Kirillov transcendence degree. For LD-stable algebras, the lower transcendence degree coincides with the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension. We show that the following algebras are LD-stable and compute their lower transcendence degrees: rings of differential operators of affine domains, universal enveloping algebras of finite dimensional Lie superalgebras, symplectic reflection algebras and their spherical subalgebras, finite $W$-algebras of type $A$, generalized Weyl algebras over Noetherian domain (under a mild condition), some quantum groups. We show that the lower transcendence degree behaves well with respect to the invariants by finite groups, and with respect to the Morita equivalence. Applications of these results are given.
We consider a generalization of (pro)algebraic loops defined on general categories of algebras and the dual notion of a coloop bialgebra suitable to represent them as functors. Our main result is the proof that the natural loop of formal diffeomorphisms with associative coefficients is proalgebraic, and give a full description of the codivisions on its coloop bialgebra.This result provides a generalization of the Lagrange inversion formula to series with non-commutative coefficients, and a loop-theoretic explanation to the existence of the non-commutative F{\`a}a di Bruno Hopf algebra. To an arbitrary Lie superalgebra $L$ we associate its Jordan double ${\mathcal Jor}(L)$, which is a Jordan superalgebra. This notion was introduced by the second author before. Now we study further applications of this construction. First, we show that the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of a Jordan superalgebra can be an arbitrary number $\{0\}\cup [1,+\infty]$. Thus, unlike associative and Jordan algebras, one hasn't an analogue of Bergman's gap $(1,2)$ for the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of Jordan superalgebras. Second, using the Lie superalgebra $\mathbf R$ constructed before, we construct a Jordan superalgebra $\mathbf J={\mathcal Jor}({\mathbf R})$ that is nil finely $\mathbb Z^3$-graded, in contrast with non-existence of such examples (roughly speaking, analogues of the Grigorchuk and Gupta-Sidki groups) of Lie algebras in characteristic zero and Jordan algebras in characteristic not 2. Also, $\mathbf J$ is just infinite but not hereditary just infinite. A similar Jordan superalgebra of slow polynomial growth was constructed before. The virtue of the present example is that it is of linear growth, of finite width 4, namely, its $\mathbb N$-gradation by degree in the generators has components of dimensions $\{0,2,3,4\}$, and the sequence of these dimensions is non-periodic. Third, we review constructions of Poisson and Jordan superalgebras starting with another example of a Lie superalgebra. We discuss the notion of self-similarity for Lie, associative, Poisson, and Jordan superalgebras. We also discuss the notion of a wreath product in case of Jordan superalgebras.
We construct a just infinite fractal 3-generated Lie superalgebra $\mathbf Q$ over arbitrary field, which gives rise to an associative hull $\mathbf A$, a Poisson superalgebra $\mathbf P$, and two Jordan superalgebras $\mathbf J$, $\mathbf K$. One has a natural filtration for $\mathbf A$ which associated graded algebra has a structure of a Poisson superalgebra and $\mathrm{gr} \mathbf A\cong\mathbf P$, also $\mathbf P$ admits an algebraic quantization. The Lie superalgebra $\mathbf Q$ is finely $\mathbb Z^3$-graded by multidegree in the generators, $\mathbf A$, $\mathbf P$ are $\mathbb Z^3$-graded, while $\mathbf J$, $\mathbf K$ are $\mathbb{Z}^4$-graded. These five superalgebras have clear monomial bases and slow polynomial growth. We describe multihomogeneous coordinates of bases of $\mathbf Q$, $\mathbf A$, $\mathbf P$ in space as bounded by "almost cubic paraboloids". A similar hypersurface in $\mathbb R^4$ bounds monomials of $\mathbf J$, $\mathbf K$. Constructions of the paper can be applied to Lie superalgebras studied before and get Poisson and Jordan superalgebras as well. The algebras ${\mathbf Q}$, ${\mathbf A}$, and the algebras without unit $\mathbf P^o$, $\mathbf J^o$, $\mathbf K^o$ are direct sums of two locally nilpotent subalgebras and there are continuum such decompositions. Also, $\mathbf Q=\mathbf Q_{\bar 0}\oplus \mathbf Q_{\bar 1}$ is a nil graded Lie superalgebra. In case $\mathrm{char}\, K=2$, $\mathbf Q$ has a structure of a restricted Lie algebra with a nil $p$-mapping. The Jordan superalgebra $\mathbf K$ is just infinite nil finely $\mathbb Z^4$-graded, while such examples (say, analogues of the Grigorchuk group) of Lie and Jordan algebras in characteristic zero do not exist. We call $\mathbf Q$, $\mathbf A$, $\mathbf P$, $\mathbf J$, $\mathbf K$ fractal because they contain infinitely many copies of themselves.
In this paper we characterize all the linear $\mathbb{C}$-derivations of the Fermat ring. We show that the Fermat ring has linear $\mathbb{C}$-derivations with trivial ring of constants and construct some examples.
Recently J.A.Anquela, T.Cortés, and H.Petersson proved that for elements $x, y$ in a non-degenerate Jordan algebra $J$, the relation $x \circ y = 0$ implies that the $U$-operators of $x$ and $y$ commute: $U_xU_y = U_yU_x$. We show that the result may be not true without the assumption on non-degeneracity of $J$. We give also a more simple proof of the mentioned result in the case of linear Jordan algebras, that is, when $char\, F\neq 2$.
We introduce the notion of basic superrank for varieties of algebras which generalizes that of basic rank. First we consider a number of varieties of nearly associative algebras over a field of characteristic $0$ that have infinite basic ranks and calculate their basic superranks which turns out to be finite. Namely we prove that the variety of alternative metabelian (solvable of index $2$) algebras has the two basic superranks $(1,1)$ and $(0,3)$; the varieties of Jordan and Malcev metabelian algebras have the unique basic superranks $(0,2)$ and $(1,1)$, respectively. Furthermore, for arbitrary pair $(r,s)\neq (0,0)$ of nonnegative integers we provide a variety that has the unique basic superrank $(r,s)$. Finally, we construct some examples of nearly associative varieties that do not possess finite basic superranks.
We obtain classification of the irreducible bimodules over the Jordan superalgebra $Kan(n)$, the Kantor double of the Grassmann Poisson superalgebra $G_n$ on $n$ odd generators, for all $n \geq 2$ and an algebraically closed field of characteristic $\ne 2$. This generalizes the corresponding result of C.Martínez and E.Zelmanov announced in \cite{MZ2} for $n>4$ and a field of characteristic zero.}
The irreducible alternative superbimodules are studied. The complete classification is obtained for even bimodules of arbitrary dimension and for finite-dimensional irreducible superbimodules over an algebraically closed field.
