Stochastic derivatives for fractional diffusions

In this paper, we introduce some fundamental notions related to the so-called stochastic derivatives with respect to a given $σ$-field $\mathcal{Q}$. In our framework, we recall well-known results about Markov--Wiener diffusions. We then focus mainly on the case where $X$ is a fractional diffusion and where $\mathcal{Q}$ is the past, the future or the present of $X$. We treat some crucial examples and our main result is the existence of stochastic derivatives with respect to the present of $X$ when $X$ solves a stochastic differential equation driven by a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index $H>1/2$. We give explicit formulas.

Correcting Newton--Côtes integrals by Lévy areas

In this note we introduce the notion of Newton--Côtes functionals corrected by Lévy areas, which enables us to consider integrals of the type $\int f(y) \mathrm{d}x,$ where $f$ is a ${\mathscr{C}}^{2m}$ function and $x,y$ are real Hölderian functions with index $α>1/(2m+1)$ for all $m\in {\mathbb{N}}^*.$ We show that this concept extends the Newton--Côtes functional introduced in Gradinaru et al., to a larger class of integrands. Then we give a theorem of existence and uniqueness for differential equations driven by $x$, interpreted using the symmetric Russo--Vallois integral.

Differentiating sigma-fields for Gaussian and shifted Gaussian processes

We study the notions of differentiating and non-differentiating sigma-fields in the general framework of (possibly drifted) Gaussian processes, and characterize their invariance properties under equivalent changes of probability measure. As an application, we investigate the class of stochastic derivatives associated with shifted fractional Brownian motions. We finally establish conditions for the existence of a jointly measurable version of the differentiated process, and we outline a general framework for stochastic embedded equations.

Dynamical properties and characterization of gradient drift diffusions

We study the dynamical properties of the Brownian diffusions having $σ{\rm Id}$ as diffusion coefficient matrix and $b=\nabla U$ as drift vector. We characterize this class through the equality $D^2_+=D^2_-$, where $D_{+}$ (resp. $D_-$) denotes the forward (resp. backward) stochastic derivative of Nelson's type. Our proof is based on a remarkable identity for $D_+^2-D_-^2$ and on the use of the martingale problem. We also give a new formulation of a famous theorem of Kolmogorov concerning reversible diffusions. We finally relate our characterization to some questions about the complex stochastic embedding of the Newton equation which initially motivated of this work.

Trees and asymptotic developments for fractional stochastic differential equations

In this paper we consider a n-dimensional stochastic differential equation driven by a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H>1/3. After solving this equation in a rather elementary way, following the approach of Gubinelli, we show how to obtain an expansion for E[f(X\_t)] in terms of t, where X denotes the solution to the SDE and f:R^n->R is a regular function. With respect to the work by Baudoin and Coutin, where the same kind of problem is considered, we try an improvement in three different directions: we are able to take a drift into account in the equation, we parametrize our expansion with trees (which makes it easier to use), and we obtain a sharp control of the remainder.

On the absolute continuity of Lévy processes with drift

We consider the problem of absolute continuity for the one-dimensional SDE \[X_t=x+\int_0^ta(X_s) ds+Z_t,\] where $Z$ is a real Lévy process without Brownian part and $a$ a function of class $\mathcal{C}^1$ with bounded derivative. Using an elementary stratification method, we show that if the drift $a$ is monotonous at the initial point $x$, then $X_t$ is absolutely continuous for every $t>0$ if and only if $Z$ jumps infinitely often. This means that the drift term has a regularizing effect, since $Z_t$ itself may not have a density. We also prove that when $Z_t$ is absolutely continuous, then the same holds for $X_t$, in full generality on $a$ and at every fixed time $t$. These results are then extended to a larger class of elliptic jump processes, yielding an optimal criterion on the driving Poisson measure for their absolute continuity.

Optimal control for rough differential equations

In this note, we consider an optimal control problem associated to a differential equation driven by a Hölder continuous function g of index greater than 1/2. We split our study in two cases. If the coefficient of dg\_t does not depend on the control process, we prove an existence theorem for a slightly generalized control problem, that is we obtain a literal extension of the corresponding deterministic situation. If the coefficient of dg\_t depends on the control process, we also prove an existence theorem but we are here obliged to restrict the set of controls to sufficiently regular functions.

Remarks on some linear fractional stochastic equations

Using the multiple stochastic integrals we prove an existence and uniqueness result for a linear stochastic equation driven by the fractional Brownian motion with any Hurst parameter. We study both the one parameter and two parameter cases. When the drift is zero, we show that in the one-parameter case the solution in an exponential, thus positive, function while in the two-parameter settings the solution is negative on a non-negligible set.
