Observational Indistinguishability and Integrity Blind Regions in Hybrid Quantum-Classical Workflows

We present a claim-relative evidence/reference framework for hybrid quantum-classical workflow integrity. Observational indistinguishability yields structural blind regions, distinct from finite-batch statistical misses. Within the declared lattice, a trusted same-batch scalar $R_0$ suffices for conclusion integrity, aggregate $M_0$ for aggregate plus conclusion integrity, and item-aligned binding for item identity. In 3,600 label interventions, feature/prediction views realize exact label-path invariance; all 764 geometry-aligned aggregate-blind rows equal their paired-clean responses, giving zero attack-only increment. For statistical response, the geometry-aligned construction detects 343/2,700 conclusion-changing ($τ\to 0^+$) label interventions with the conformal rule and 1,183/2,700 with the uncorrected union; the original frozen same-item geometry yields 11/2,617 and 43/2,617, respectively. The executed conformal clean false-action rates are 0.048--0.059 descriptively; its finite-sample guarantee requires exchangeability, which the overlapping-draw design violates. The cluster-preserving adaptive stress test (Gate A) reduces response versus matched controls in 25--40 of 40 environment/split cells while retaining conclusion changes. A bounded 165-design-cell ideal-statevector and finite-shot-emulation branch directly instantiates semantic, estimated and observed kernel transitions. The fixed equal-weight design estimates neither deployment prevalence nor QPU, provider or deployed-service assurance.

Sharp Target-Domain Certificates for Quantum-Kernel Advantage under Distribution Shift

Quantum predictive advantage under shift usually requires known target labels. We derive the assumption-free sharp identified interval for the finite-batch advantage of a fixed candidate over the best member of a prespecified fixed classical-kernel family under any bounded loss and unrestricted completions of the unaudited labels; zero-one accuracy has exact closed-form partial-label updates. Across eight security shifts, zero-label upper endpoints against 115 classical kernels span 0.002-0.088. Retrospective auditing reduces every endpoint to 0.010 with 0-33 of 500 labels, including entangling-ZZ models. Prospective corroboration on two eligible tasks met predefined criteria: four task-classifier medians require 0-3 labels (overall median 0; maximum 76), and all 20 realized effects are negative; a third task fails its feature gate. Protocol controls reverse an apparent advantage, while finite-shot noise can increase predictive distinctness without useful advantage. The framework separates protocol validity, target predictive indispensability, and quantum relevance.

Candidate Comparability Before Promotion: Conditional Validation in Adaptive Network Intrusion Detection

Adaptive network intrusion detection systems retrain classifiers after drift alarms, but an alarm detects change; it does not establish that a challenger should replace the deployed incumbent. Promotion is security-relevant because it changes the model responsible for subsequent attack detection, and evaluating it has a methodological problem: promotion conclusions may depend on how the challenger was constructed and on how much evidence supports it. We test that dependence on CICIDS2017, UNSW-NB15 and ToN-IoT with self-contained challenger pipelines, nested candidate-size controls, a common-harness comparison of nine update policies, and a final sensitivity confining every exact feature vector to one evaluation, training or probe role. Incumbent-owned frozen preprocessing amplified apparent promotion harm; with self-contained challenger pipelines the mean full-drift harm did not persist. Raising nominal candidate evidence from 512 to 2,000 samples per class improved promotion under pool-constructed progressive drift by +0.53, +1.67 and +0.38 balanced-accuracy points: positive and statistically resolved in all three benchmarks, but materially benchmark-dependent rather than homogeneous, and driven mainly by fewer false positives. Policy conclusions were partially robust: policy ordering changed with candidate comparability, no policy globally dominated, and earlier compatibility statements for a label-free estimator and a calibrated ensemble narrowed. Validation helped evidence-disadvantaged challengers but added no average benefit at parity. Thirteen replays on real, time-ordered traffic showed no net harm from always deploying. Challenger construction and evidence should be controlled, reported and interpreted explicitly when promotion is evaluated.

Conditional validity of quantum event classifiers under collider systematics and quantum estimation uncertainty

Claims about a deployed quantum machine-learning classifier can fail when target data shift or when finite-shot quantum evaluation randomizes the model itself. We develop an information-conditional, fail-closed auditing framework that returns supported, refuted or unresolved verdicts with anytime-valid per-claim error control under a declared sampling protocol. On a Higgs-to-tau-tau collider benchmark, stable classifier metrics do not guarantee valid signal-strength inference: at the studied finite-template statistics, the fixed-template profile can lose coverage, even in shift-free controls, when its templates are estimated independently and template-statistical uncertainty is not modeled explicitly. Across 30 frozen finite-shot quantum-kernel deployments, every realized Gram matrix is propagated through refitting, calibration and threshold selection; in the primary raw pipeline these perturbations leave ranking nearly unchanged yet move thresholded target metrics by about 0.02, flipping ideal-anchored claims, and the diagonal-loading sensitivity decomposes differently. Matched classical controls remove apparent quantum-specific nominal-performance and sensing effects. We claim no quantum advantage.
