SINR-Aware Adaptive Offloading and Resource Allocation in Shared-Spectrum Integrated Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Networks

Sharing the sub-6~GHz spectrum between terrestrial networks and low Earth orbit satellites introduces cross-tier interference in both directions, as terrestrial transmissions can degrade satellite-link reception, while satellite transmissions can impair the performance of terrestrial links. Conventional reference signal received power (RSRP)-based offloading, designed for separate frequency bands, does not account for this cross-tier interference. We study offloading and resource allocation in an integrated terrestrial and non-terrestrial network through a two-timescale framework in which signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR)-aware adaptive traffic offloading (SAATO) updates user associations from filtered SINR and load-aware expected throughput, switching a user only across a hysteresis band, while joint cross-tier fractional programming (Joint-FP) optimizes resource allocation for the resulting associations. Under an equal-share resource allocation model, the resulting decision metric approximates the change in proportional-fair utility with an error that decays with load. We prove that joint allocation under the sum-rate utility is nondeterministic polynomial-time (NP)-hard and that the utility sequence accepted by Joint-FP is non-decreasing and convergent. At full spectral overlap, RSRP-based offloading leaves 44\% of user samples below 0.5~Mbps (outage), whereas SAATO with Joint-FP, given instantaneous channel knowledge, leaves none and increases geometric-mean throughput by 8\% and 2\% under half and full spectral overlap, respectively, relative to power control without offloading. It also limits tier switching to at most 0.05 switches per user per minute.

Synchronization-Oriented Multi-Radius BMOCZ for Non-Coherent Short-Packet Communications

Modulation on conjugate-reciprocal zeros (MOCZ) is a promising candidate for blind short-packet communication (SPC) in future wireless systems; however, its performance is sensitive to timing and frequency synchronization errors. In this paper, we propose a novel scheme named multi-radius binary MOCZ (MR-BMOCZ). This method introduces a new root placement strategy that enhances diversity in the autocorrelation domain. The resulting structure enhances the autocorrelation properties of the transmitted waveform, leading to improved timing offset (TO) estimation. Moreover, the multi-radius construction distributes the signal energy over a larger set of radii, hence reducing the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). The resulting waveform also exhibits a distinctive spectral structure that is exploited for carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation and correction, yielding lower normalized mean square error (NMSE) compared with BMOCZ-based schemes. Simulation results over additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and fading channels demonstrate that MR-BMOCZ achieves superior synchronization performance while maintaining comparable bit error rate (BER) and block error rate (BLER) performance. Consequently, the proposed scheme offers a synchronization oriented extension of BMOCZ for robust non-coherent SPC.

A Novel OFDM-FMCW Waveform for Low-Complexity Joint Sensing and Communication

With the advent of 6th Generation (6G) wireless networks, integrating Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) waveforms presents a promising solution for simultaneous communication and sensing. While OFDM offers high communication performance, it requires complex transceivers for sensing applications. Conversely, FMCW is easily implemented for sensing but provides low data rates for communication. This letter derives the mathematical relationship between OFDM and FMCW, showing how FMCW can be generated from the diagonal elements of the OFDM modulator (\ie, the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) matrix). We propose a novel approach that leverages the DFT matrix to seamlessly integrate these two waveforms, minimizing interference and enabling high data rate communication alongside low-complexity sensing receiver design. Extensive simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of our technique in achieving simultaneous sensing and

Dual-Purpose SSB Design for Joint Time-Frequency Synchronization Using Relocated DMRS

The synchronization signal block (SSB) is designed to synchronize a capable user-equipment (UE) with the base-station (BS) in recent cellular networks. However, the same SSB cannot be utilized by a narrowband, low-complexity, and low-power internet of things (IoT) device for synchronization. To address this limitation, this paper proposes a dual-purpose SSB (DP-SSB) to enable low-complexity IoT synchronization using the existing SSB, while ensuring uninterrupted conventional UE operation. Specifically, selected demodulation reference signal (DMRS) symbols are contiguously mapped to some physical resource blocks (PRBs) in the second and fourth symbols of the DP-SSB. These DMRS symbols are further optimized using a receiver-aware least square (LS) approach to impose a distinct time-domain structure at the output of the IoT front-end. At the IoT receiver, a reduced-rate observation of the DP-SSB is obtained after narrowband filtering and decimation that is exploited for energy detection and sequential time-frequency (TF) synchronization. For the UE, primary synchronization signal (PSS) and secondary synchronization signal (SSS)-based synchronization is preserved, while the effect of relocated DMRS on the channel estimation and physical broadcast channel (PBCH) reception is assessed. The performance of the proposed DP-SSB is evaluated in terms of detection probability, TF synchronization accuracy, IoT receiver computational complexity, and UE-side PBCH decoding. Simulation results validate the analytical detection characterization and demonstrate reliable low-power IoT synchronization performance compared with the benchmark synchronization schemes while maintaining conventional UE operation.

Range Ambiguity Identification and Elimination by Leveraging Temporal Broadening Effect for THz Sensing

High pulse repetition frequency (PRF) operation improves Doppler unambiguous sensing but reduces the maximum unambiguous range of a terahertz (THz) pulsed radar. Echoes from targets beyond this range can be incorrectly associated with subsequent transmitted pulses, causing the targets to appear at shorter ranges. This paper proposes a receiver-side framework that exploits the THz-specific temporal broadening effect as a distance-dependent signature to resolve range ambiguity. For each detected echo, the receiver applies broadening-matched filtering with references corresponding to candidate target ranges. The filter outputs are combined across pulses with Doppler compensation, and the largest normalised combined response identifies the ambiguity order needed to recover the true target range. The selected reference is then reused to reduce mismatch loss in subsequent range and velocity estimation. Simulations under known atmospheric conditions, with targets occupying distinct apparent-delay bins, demonstrate reliable range recovery beyond the conventional unambiguous interval. Range estimation errors conditioned on correct ambiguity-order identification, together with the reported velocity estimation errors, approach their corresponding derived Cramér--Rao bounds. The method preserves a fixed transmitted pulse shape, PRF, and sampling rate, at the expense of a higher signal-to-clutter-plus-noise ratio requirement for ambiguity identification relative to the evaluated diversity-based techniques.

Shuf-Scatter: Permutation-Based DLI Suppression for OFDM Ambient Backscatter

Direct Link Interference (DLI) remains a major bottleneck in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)-based Ambient Backscatter Communication (AmBC) systems. This letter proposes Shuf-Scatter, a scheme that applies a deterministic permutation to the reflected OFDM waveform to create a distinct correlation-domain signature. By exploiting the quasi-orthogonality between the reshuffled backscatter signal and the direct-link component, the proposed receiver effectively mitigates DLI and enables reliable detection without requiring dedicated spectral resources, or instantaneous Backscatter-Link (BL) Channel State Information (CSI). Analytical and simulation results demonstrate that Shuf-Scatter achieves superior Bit Error Rate (BER) performance under strong DLI while preserving the integrity of the legacy OFDM transmission.

Transceiver-Integrated BD-RIS: Wave-Domain Signal Processing for Sustainable and Inclusive 6G

The shift toward sixth-generation (6G) wireless communications demands transceiver architectures that simultaneously support high-data-rate communications, pervasive sensing, and sub-meter-level localization. Beyond these performance targets, 6G systems are also expected to align with long-term societal goals, including sustainability and inclusiveness. Conventional radio designs, however, remain heavily reliant on digital baseband processing, whose cost, power consumption, and computational complexity scale unfavorably with increasing array size and carrier frequency, making them poorly aligned with these emerging requirements. Beyond-diagonal reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (BD-RISs) introduce a new paradigm by enabling direct manipulation of electromagnetic waves in the analog domain. This article presents BD-RIS as a wave-domain analog processing unit embedded within the transceiver aperture. By migrating linear signal processing functions from the digital baseband to the wave domain, BD-RISs significantly reduce computational load and energy consumption, enabling scalable and sustainable operation for extra-large antenna array systems. Owing to their ability to jointly provide high operational flexibility, modularity, and energy-efficient analog processing, transceiver-integrated BD-RISs offer a compelling architectural trade-off and emerge as a strong candidate for next-generation wireless transceivers.

Memory in the Sky: Low-Altitude Question Answering with Multi-Agent Memory Aggregation

This paper studies low-altitude question answering (LAQA), in which distributed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) memories are aggregated at a ground server to answer questions about observations over a long horizon. Unlike conventional resource allocation based on sensing, communication, control, or computation metrics, LAQA requires an explicit measure of memory value. We propose a generative adversarial exam (GAE) that uses forward simulation to evaluate memory retrieval and exam scores to quantify memory quality. This enables the downstream QA value of candidate memories to be measured and optimized without accessing the internal mechanisms of the black-box captioning, retrieval, and reasoning pipeline. Building on this metric, we develop a memory-centric (MemCen) framework that jointly selects UAVs and allocates transmit power to maximize memory quality under communication constraints. In the noise-limited regime, we derive a QoM-aware capped water-filling law that explicitly connects task utility with physical-layer power allocation. We further develop penalty successive optimization (PSO) and learning to memorize (L2M) solvers. MemCen achieves QA accuracies of 92.4% and 84.0% in CARLA Town04 and Town05 under static and dynamic communication conditions, respectively. In real-world experiments, MemCen achieves 88.5% QA accuracy on the panoramic multi-agent system (PMAS) benchmark. Finally, UAV-to-robot-dog demonstrations further validate the practical utility of the acquired memories for environmental understanding and navigation.

Bidirectional CFO Separation for Radial Velocity Estimation In 5G NR TDD V2X Links

High-accuracy velocity estimation over orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) links is challenging because Doppler shifts and local oscillator (LO) drift contribute the same way to the observed carrier frequency offset (CFO). We propose a bidirectional CFO separation method for a frequency range-1 (FR1) time division duplex (TDD) Uu link between a roadside gNB/TRP and a vehicle user equipment (UE). Downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) CFO estimates are obtained from the physical downlink and uplink shared channel phase tracking reference signals (PT-RS), respectively, their sum isolates the radial Doppler and allow for the extraction of the radial velocity, while their difference recovers the relative LO offset. The estimates are obtained in closed form, without any iterative processing, using only a compact scalar CFO report fed back on the UL, the method can be co-scheduled with an new radio (NR) round trip time (RTT) positioning event to enable simultaneous ranging measurements along velocity estimates. We derive an idealized Cramér-Rao lower bound (CRLB), show that a linear phase slope estimator attains it at high signal to noise ratio, evaluate sensitivity to angle of arrival uncertainty and multipath, and discuss RF chain mismatch. The resulting link level implementation is aligned with NR PDSCH/PUSCH PT-RS procedures and is suitable for network assisted vehicle to everything (V2X) integrated sensing and communication (ISAC).

Memory-Native Non-Terrestrial Networks for Embodied Intelligence

Non-terrestrial networks (NTN) provide ubiquitous connectivity for embodied intelligence (EI), enabling robots in the wilderness to leverage cloud resources or report critical information to remote centers. However, the synergy is nontrivial due to the highly dynamic, resource-constrained, topology-varying, and task-oriented environment. Existing memoryless NTN protocols become inefficient, since the decisions are driven by local channel conditions and instantaneous service demands. To address these limitations, this paper proposes the memory-native NTN (Mem-NTN) paradigm that leverages long-horizon contexts for memory-augmented system optimization. To realize this paradigm shift, we establish a dual-memory architecture that distinguishes between physical memory representing the state of the world and digital memory encoding historical network experience. We develop memory acquisition, compression, valuation, update, and utilization mechanisms that facilitate cross-layer, memory-native decision-making, spanning from the physical and access layers up to the network and application layers. Experiments in satellite embodied question answering (SEQA) demonstrate that the proposed Mem-NTN consistently outperforms conventional stateless NTN and terrestrial approaches.

Low-Altitude Fluid Antenna Network with Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning

Low-altitude wireless networks (LAWNs) integrate terrestrial and aerial platforms to provide ubiquitous communication, sensing, and localization services for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. However, dynamic air-ground and air-air channels, abrupt blockages, and heterogeneous interference hinder the realization of this goal. Nevertheless, fluid antenna (FA), a cutting-edge multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technique, overcomes these challenges by reconfiguring antenna positions to unlock additional spatial degrees-of-freedom. In this paper, towards bringing low-altitude FA networks into reality, we study the fast and high-performance FA reconfiguration for low-altitude FA networks with multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL). Specifically, we present an electromagnetic digital twin (EM-DT)-assisted MARL framework. To fill the sim-to-real gap, we introduce a two-stage transfer learning framework. Our case study shows that joint FA positions and beamforming optimization can enhance the system sum-rate by 118.5%, compared to the fixed position baseline. This gain comes from the dynamic millisecond timescale reconfiguration of FA arrays and the adaptive steering of beams toward aerial users with mobility.

Joint User Association and Pilot Assignment via Phase-Shifted Pilots for Scalable Cell-Free mMIMO

Cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (CF-mMIMO) promises uniform service across the coverage area, and this service relies on accurate channel estimation for every user equipment (UE). These estimates are obtained from orthogonal pilot sequences, whose number is bounded by the channel coherence block. As a result, the sequences are reused as the UE density increases and the resulting pilot contamination limits the scalability. This paper proposes a joint user association (UA) and pilot assignment (PA) framework built on the adaptive phase-shifted (APS) pilot design, in which all UEs share a single full-band pilot and a per-UE phase shift applied in the frequency domain places their channel impulse responses (CIRs) in contiguous, non-overlapping intervals of the time domain at the access point (AP). The number of UEs that an AP can separate is thus set by the number of subcarriers rather than by the number of orthogonal sequences, and the UA is formulated as a $\mathbf{0/1}$ knapsack problem whose item weights are the numbers of taps and whose capacity is the number of subcarriers. Analysis and simulations show that the proposed design more than doubles the number of UEs scheduled by the conventional interleaved (CI) benchmark. It attains the same mean-squared error (MSE) as the CI benchmark under an equal total pilot power, and a lower MSE under an equal per-subcarrier power. It further improves the 5th-percentile connectivity and Jain's fairness index by penalizing the number of existing connections of a UE in the value assigned to each candidate link.

Memory Centric Power Allocation for Multi-Agent Embodied Question Answering

This paper considers multi-agent embodied question answering (MA-EQA), which enables robot teams to answer queries based on their long-horizon observations. In contrast to existing edge resource management methods that optimize sensing, communication, or computation performance metrics, MA-EQA focuses on the quality of aggregated memory. To address this paradigm shift, we propose a quality of memory (QoM) model based on generative adversarial exam (GAE), which leverages forward simulation to evaluate memory retrieval and utilizes the resulting exam scores to quantify QoM. Based on the QoM model, we develop a memory-centric power allocation (MCPA) scheme that maximizes memory quality under communication resource constraints. Through analytical characterization in the noise-limited regime, we reveal a GAE-augmented capped water-filling structure for MCPA. Extensive experiments demonstrate that MCPA achieves significant improvements over existing benchmarks across diverse metrics and scenarios.

LAGS: Low-Altitude Gaussian Splatting with Groupwise Heterogeneous Graph Learning

Low-altitude Gaussian splatting (LAGS) facilitates 3D scene reconstruction by aggregating aerial images from distributed drones. However, as LAGS prioritizes maximizing reconstruction quality over communication throughput, existing low-altitude resource allocation schemes become inefficient. This inefficiency stems from their failure to account for image diversity introduced by varying viewpoints. To fill this gap, we propose a groupwise heterogeneous graph neural network (GW-HGNN) for LAGS resource allocation. GW-HGNN explicitly models the non-uniform contribution of different image groups to the reconstruction process, thus automatically balancing data fidelity and transmission cost. The key insight of GW-HGNN is to transform LAGS losses and communication constraints into graph learning costs for dual-level message passing. Experiments on real-world LAGS datasets demonstrate that GW-HGNN significantly outperforms state-of-the-art benchmarks across key rendering metrics, including PSNR, SSIM, and LPIPS. Furthermore, GW-HGNN reduces computational latency by approximately 100x compared to the widely-used MOSEK solver, achieving millisecond-level inference suitable for real-time deployment.

An HFM-Inspired Random Access Preamble Design for NTN under High Doppler

Non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) are a key enabler of ubiquitous 6G connectivity, but the high orbital velocity and long propagation distances in low-Earth orbit (LEO) NTN operation introduce large Doppler shifts and substantial delay uncertainty that challenge New Radio (NR) physical random access channel (PRACH) design. Conventional Zadoff Chu (ZC) and linear frequency modulated (LFM) preambles are particularly vulnerable, as Doppler induced ambiguity and delay Doppler coupling degrade timing estimation and preamble identification. This paper proposes a hyperbolic frequency modulation (HFM) inspired PRACH preamble for robust synchronization and reliable identification under uncompensated or unknown Doppler, detected with a conventional matched filter receiver so that the gains reflect the preamble design. A unified delay Doppler ambiguity function framework characterizes the self and cross ambiguity behavior of ZC, LFM, and HFM inspired preambles, and a scaling-factor based codebook ensures multi-user separability. Simulation results under NTN channel conditions confirm higher detection probability, lower timing root mean square error (RMSE), and improved peak to sidelobe and integrated sidelobe levels compared with ZC and frequency-domain superposed LFM baselines.

PHY Authentication for Ambient IoTs in Near-Field XL-MIMO Backscatter Communication Systems

This letter exploits near-field (NF) spherical wavefronts to derive geometry-dependent physical signatures for backscatter device (BD) authentication in extremely large-scale multiple-input multiple-output (XL-MIMO) backscatter communication systems. We propose a binary element-wise delay shift keying (EW-DSK) modulation scheme based on a multi-antenna BD architecture. The proposed scheme introduces a deterministic, bit-dependent delay that shifts the power delay profile (PDP) while preserving the aperture-dependent curvature induced by NF propagation. Using the dominant PDP component extracted across the receive antennas, we develop a compact delay-curvature signature extractor and a corresponding authentication test to mitigate BD impersonation attacks. Simulation results evaluate the proposed scheme in terms of curvature extraction accuracy, authentication accuracy, and spoofing success probability under different spoofer distances, signal-to-noise ratios, and effective bandwidths.

Temporal Broadening-Aware Multiplexing for Joint Sensing and Communication in THz Band

High-resolution wireless sensing has become an integral component of futuristic 6G networks alongside high-rate communication. Terahertz (THz) band enables both functions through its extremely large bandwidth, providing sub-centimeter level sensing precision and multi-gigabit data rates. However, THz propagation suffers from severe channel impairments such as molecular absorption (MoA) and the resulting temporal broadening effect (TBE). For sensing, TBE causes temporal spreading of received echoes, leading to degraded range resolution and necessitating long guard intervals between consecutive sensing pulses to avoid overlap. These guards, while necessary for far sensing receiver (Rxsens), cause latency and inefficient temporal use. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes a TBE-aware multiplexing framework that exploits the distance-dependent nature of TBE to enable interference-free coexistence of sensing and communication (S&C) pulses. A guard interval preallocated for the worst-case TBE at far Rxsens is opportunistically reused to embed a low-power single-carrier communication pulse for a nearby user experiencing minimal broadening. Limited TBE confines S&C pulses within their designated slots at short distances, while the broadened and attenuated communication pulse at the distant Rxsens becomes negligible, eliminating the need for successive interference cancellation (SIC). Simulation results reveal that compared with power-domain non-orthogonal multiple access (PD-NOMA) and fixed-guard alternative, the proposed scheme achieves superior bit-error rate, sensing accuracy, and latency performance, with up to 66.5% latency reduction under heavy traffic.

Energy-Efficient Target-Aware Hybrid Beamforming for THz Near-Field ISAC with Sparse Connectivity

Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) at terahertz (THz) frequencies enables ultra-high-resolution perception while facing a key limitation: highly directional THz beams cannot illuminate extended targets within a single beam. Conventional solutions rely on sequential beam scanning, reducing sensing accuracy and increasing energy consumption. Moreover, in conventional sparse-array, grating lobes are generally treated as undesirable artifacts that should be suppressed to avoid ambiguity and interference. In contrast, this paper adopts a reverse design philosophy by intentionally engineering sparsity-induced grating lobes as controllable auxiliary illumination beams for extended-target sensing. This paper exploits grating lobes and proposes a sparse-connected hybrid beamforming architecture that intentionally engineers and exploits grating lobes to enable single-shot, full-aperture illumination of extended targets while supporting multi-user downlink communication. A switch-controlled sparse RF network preserves the array aperture and generates a dominant main lobe with structured secondary lobes covering the entire target extent. A covariance-driven alternating-minimization framework jointly optimizes digital precoders, quantized phase shifters, and antenna-RF switching. Simulations at 140 GHz demonstrate near fully-digital Cramer-Rao sensing accuracy, competitive communication performance in low-rank THz channels, rapid convergence, and significant hardware and energy savings, establishing structured sparse connectivity as a scalable and energy-efficient solution for extended-target THz ISAC.
