Universal scaling of conserved charge in the stochastic diffusion dynamics

In this paper, we explore the Kibble-Zurek scaling of the conserved charge, using the stachastic diffusion dynamics. After determining the characteristic scales $τ_{kz}$ and $l_{kz}$ and properly rescaling the traditional correlation function and cumulant, we construct universal functions for both the two-point correlation function $C(y_1-y_2;τ)$ and second-order cumulant $K(Δy,τ)$ of the conserved charge in the critical regime, which are insensitive to the initial temperature and a parameter in the mapping between 3D Ising model and the hot QCD system near the critical point.

Applications of deep learning to relativistic hydrodynamics

In this proceeding, we will briefly review our recent progress on implementing deep learning to relativistic hydrodynamics. We will demonstrate that a successfully designed and trained deep neural network, called {\tt stacked U-net}, can capture the main features of the non-linear evolution of hydrodynamics, which could also rapidly predict the final profiles for various testing initial conditions.

Spectra and flow of light nuclei in relativistic heavy ion collisions at RHIC and the LHC

Within the framework of the coalescence model based on the phase-space distributions of protons and neutrons generated from the {\tt iEBE-VISHNU} hybrid model with {\tt AMPT} initial conditions, we study the spectra and elliptic flow of deuterons and helium-3 in relativistic heavy ion collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and the Larger Hadron Collider (LHC). Results from our model calculations for Au + Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV at RHIC and Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=2.76$ TeV at the LHC are compared with available experimental data. Good agreements are generally seen between theoretical results and experimental data, except that the calculated yield of helium-3 in Pb + Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=2.76$ TeV underestimates the data by about a factor of two. Possible reasons for these discrepancies are discussed. We also make predictions on the spectra and elliptic flow of deuterons and helium-3 in Pb + Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=5.02$ TeV that are being studied at LHC.

Hydrodynamic Collectivity in Proton--Proton Collisions at 13 TeV

In this paper, we investigate the hydrodynamic collectivity in proton--proton (pp) collisions at 13 TeV, using iEBE-VISHNU hybrid model with HIJING initial conditions. With properly tuned parameters, our model simulations can remarkably describe all the measured 2-particle correlations, including integrated and differential elliptic flow coefficients for all charged and identified hadrons ($K_S^0$, $Λ$). However, our model calculations show positive 4-particle cumulant $c_{2}\{4\}$ in high multiplicity pp collisions, and can not reproduce the negative $c_{2}\{4\}$ measured in experiment. Further investigations on the HIJING initial conditions show that the fluctuations of the second order anisotropy coefficient $\varepsilon_{2}$ increases with the increase of its mean value, which leads to a similar trend of the flow fluctuations. For a simultaneous description of the 2- and 4- particle cumulants within the hydrodynamic framework, it is required to have significant improvements on initial condition for pp collisions, which is still lacking of knowledge at the moment.

Universal scaling of non-equilibrium critical fluctuations from Langevin dynamics of model A

Within the framework of the Kibble-Zurek Mechanism, we investigate the universal behavior of the non-equilibrium critical fluctuations, using the Langevin dynamics of model A. With properly located typical time, length and angle scales, $τ_{\mbox{KZ}}$, $l_{\mbox{KZ}}$, and $θ_{\mbox{KZ}}$, the constructed functions $\bar{f}_n((τ-τ_c)/τ_{\mbox{KZ}},θ_{\mbox{KZ}})$ (n=1...4) for the cumulants of the sigma field show universal behavior near the critical point, which are independent from some non-universal factors, such as the relaxation time or the evolution trajectory.

Enhancements of high order cumulants across the 1st order phase transition boundary

In this proceeding, we investigate the dynamical evolution of the $σ$ field with a trajectory across the 1st order phase transition boundary, using Langevin dynamics from the linear sigma model. We find the high order cumulants of the $σ$ field are largely enhanced during the dynamical evolution, compared with the equilibrium values, due to the supercooling effect of the first order phase transition.

Non-critical fluctuations of (net) charges and (net) protons from iEBE-VISHNU hybrid model

In this paper, we investigate the non-critical fluctuations of (net) charges and (net) protons in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 7.7, 39 and 200 GeV, using iEBE-VISHNU hybrid model with Poisson fluctuations added in the particle event generator between hydrodynamics and UrQMD. Various effects, such as volume fluctuations hadronic evolution and scatterings, resonance decays, as well as realistic centrality cuts and acceptance cuts have been embedded in our model calculations. With properly tuned parameters, iEBE-VISHNU roughly describe the centrality dependent moments and cumulants of (net) charges and (net) protons measured in experiment. Further comparison simulations show that the volume fluctuation is the dominant factor to influence the multiplicity fluctuations, which makes the higher moments of (net) charges largely deviate from the Poison baselines. We also find that the effects from hadronic evolutions and resonance decays are pretty small or even negligible for the multiplicity fluctuations of both (net) charges and (net) protons.

Dynamical fluctuations in critical regime and across the 1st order phase transition

In this proceeding, we study the dynamical evolution of the sigma field within the framework of Langevin dynamics. We find that, as the system evolves in the critical regime, the magnitudes and signs of the cumulants of sigma field, $C_{3}$ and $C_{4}$, can be dramatically different from the equilibrated ones due to the memory effects near $T_c$. For the dynamical evolution across the 1st order phase transition boundary, the supercooling effect leads the sigma field to be widely distributed in the thermodynamical potential, which largely enhances the cumulants $C_3, \ C_4$, correspondingly.

Collective flow in 2.76 A TeV and 5.02 A TeV Pb+Pb collisions

In this paper, we study and predict flow observables in 2.76 A TeV and 5.02 A TeV Pb +Pb collisions, using the iEBE-VISHNU hybrid model with TRENto and AMPT initial conditions and with different forms of the QGP transport coefficients. With properly chosen and tuned parameter sets, our model calculations can nicely describe various flow observables in 2.76 A TeV Pb +Pb collisions, as well as the measured flow harmonics of all charged hadrons in 5.02 A TeV Pb +Pb collisions. We also predict other flow observables, including $v_n(p_T)$ of identified particles, event-by-event $v_n$ distributions, event-plane correlations, (Normalized) Symmetric Cumulants, non-linear response coefficients and $p_T$-dependent factorization ratios, in 5.02 A TeV Pb+Pb collisions. We find many of these observables remain approximately the same values as the ones in 2.76 A TeV Pb+Pb collisions. Our theoretical studies and predictions could shed light to the experimental investigations in the near future.

Static critical fluctuations on the freeze-out surface

In this proceeding, we summarize the main results of our recent paper, which introduces a freeze-out scheme to the dynamical models near the QCD critical point. Within such framework of static critical fluctuations, the Beam Energy Scan (BES) data of $C_4$ and $κσ^2$ for net protons within different $p_T$ ranges can be roughly described. Besides, the momentum acceptance dependence of higher cumulants at lower collision energies can also be qualitatively described. However, $C_2$ and $C_3$ are always over-predicted due to the positive static critical fluctuations.

Investigating the correlations of flow harmonics in 2.76A TeV Pb--Pb collisions

This proceeding briefly summarizes our recent investigations on the correlations of flow harmonics in 2.76A TeV Pb--Pb collisions with viscous hydrodynamics {\tt VISH2+1}. We calculated both the symmetric cumulants $SC^{v}(m, n)$ and the normalized symmetric cumulants $NSC^{v}(m, n)$, and found $v_{2}$ and $v_{4}$, $v_{2}$ and $v_{5}$, $v_{3}$ and $v_{5}$ are correlated, $v_{2}$ and $v_{3}$, $v_{3}$ and $v_{4}$ are anti-correlated. We also found $NSC^{v}(3, 2)$ are insensitive to the QGP viscosity, which are mainly determined by the initial conditions.

Correlations of flow harmonics in 2.76A TeV Pb--Pb collisions

Using the event-by-event viscous hydrodynamics VISH2+1 with MC-Glauber, MC-KLN, and AMPT initial conditions, we investigate the correlations of flow harmonics, including the symmetric cumulants $SC^{v}(m, n)$, the normalized symmetric cumulants $NSC(m, n)$, and the Pearson correlation coefficients $C(v_{m}^{2}, v_{n}^{2})$ in 2.76A TeV Pb--Pb collisions. We find $SC^{v}(m, n)$ is sensitive to both initial conditions and the specific shear viscosity $η/s$. A comparison with the recent ALICE data show that our hydrodynamic calculations can qualitatively describe the data of $SC^{v}(3, 2)$ and $SC^{v}(4, 2)$ for various initial conditions, which demonstrate that $v_2$, $v_4$ are correlated and $v_2$, $v_3$ are anti-correlated. Meanwhile, the predicted symmetric cumulants $SC^{v}(5, 2)$, $SC^{v}(5, 3)$, and $SC^{v}(4, 3)$ reveal that $v_2$ and $v_5$, $v_3$ and $v_5$ are correlated, $v_3$ and $v_4$ are anti-correlated in most centrality classes. We also find $NSC^{v}(3, 2)$ and $C(v_{3}^{2}, v_{2}^{2})$, which are insensitive to $η/s$, are mainly determined by corresponding $NSC^{\varepsilon}(3, 2)$ and $C(\varepsilon_{3}^{2}, \varepsilon_{2}^{2})$ correlators from the initial state. In contrast, other $NSC^{v}(m, n)$ and $C(v_{m}^{2}, v_{n}^{2})$ correlators are influenced by both initial conditions and $η/s$, which illustrates the non-linear mode couplings in higher flow harmonics with $n \geq 4$.

Multiplicity fluctuations of net protons on the hydrodynamic freeze-out surface

This proceeding briefly summarizes our recent work on calculating the correlated fluctuations of net protons on the hydrodynamic freeze-out surface near the QCD critical point. For both Poisson and Binomial baselines, our calculations could roughly reproduce the energy dependent cumulant $C_4$ and $κσ^2$ of net protons, but always over-predict $C_2$ and $C_3$ due to the positive contributions from the static critical fluctuations.

Correlated fluctuations near the QCD critical point

In this paper, we introduce a freeze-out scheme for the dynamical models near the QCD critical point through coupling the decoupled classical particles with the order parameter field. With a modified distribution function that satisfies specific static fluctuations, we calculate the correlated fluctuations of net protons on the hydrodynamic freeze-out surface. A comparison with recent STAR data shows that our model calculations could roughly reproduce energy dependent cumulant $C_4$ and $κσ^2$ of net protons through tuning the related parameters. However, the calculated $C_2$ and $C_3$ with both Poisson and Binomial baselines are always above the experimental data due to the positive contributions from the static critical fluctuations. In order to qualitatively and quantitatively describe the experimental data, the dynamical critical fluctuations and more realistic non-critical fluctuation baselines should be investigated in the near future.

High order flow harmonics of identified hadrons in 2.76 A TeV Pb+Pb collisions

Using iEBE-VISHNU hybrid model with the AMPT initial conditions, we study the higher order flow harmonics of identified hadrons in 2.76 A TeV Pb+Pb collisions. Comparison with the recent ALICE measurements at 20-30\% centrality shows that our calculations nicely describe the data below 2 GeV, especially for the $v_2$, $v_3$ and $v_4$ mass-orderings among pions, kaons and protons. We also extended the calculations to other centrality bins, which presents similar mass-ordering patterns for these flow harmonics as the ones observed at 20-30\% centrality. In the later part of this article, we explore the development of $v_n$ mass ordering/splitting during the hadronic evolution through the comparison runs from iEBE-VISHNU hybrid model and pure hydrodynamics with different decoupling temperatures.

Physics perspectives of heavy-ion collisions at very high energy

Heavy-ion collisions at very high colliding energies are expected to produce a quark-gluon plasma (QGP) at the highest temperature obtainable in a laboratory setting. Experimental studies of these reactions can provide an unprecedented range of information on properties of the QGP at high temperatures. We report theoretical investigations of the physics perspectives of heavy-ion collisions at a future high-energy collider. These include initial parton production, collective expansion of the dense medium, jet quenching, heavy-quark transport, dissociation and regeneration of quarkonia, photon and dilepton production. We illustrate the potential of future experimental studies of the initial particle production and formation of QGP at the highest temperature to provide constraints on properties of strongly interaction matter.
