Explicit Burgess inequalities for cubefree moduli

Burgess proved that for $\chi_q$ a primitive Dirichlet character modulo $q$ with $q$ cubefree, $\sum_{M< n\le M+N}\chi_q(n)= O\left(N^{1-\frac{1}{r}}q^{\frac{r+1}{4r^2}+\epsilon}\right)$ for all integers $r\ge1.$ More recently, explicit versions with prime moduli $q$ were computed by Booker, McGown, Trevi\~{n}o, and Francis, with applications to finding the least $k$-th power residue, and bounding the size of Dirichlet $L$-functions just to name a few. Jain-Sharma, Khale, and Liu proved an explicit estimate for $r=2.$ We improve their explicit constant for $r = 2$ and compute an explicit Burgess bound for cubefree $q$ for $r\ge 3$.

Towards Keating-Snaith's conjecture for cubic Hecke $L$-functions over the Eisenstein field

A famous conjecture of Keating and Snaith asserts that central values of $L$-functions in a given family admit a log-normal distribution with a prescribed mean and variance depending on the symmetry type of the family. Based on a recent work of Radziwill and Soundararajan, we obtain a conditional lower bound towards Keating-Snaith's conjecture for a "thin" family of cubic Hecke $L$-functions over the Eisenstein field. A key new input is certain twisted estimates of the 1-level density of zeros of cubic Hecke $L$-functions, extending the previous work of David and G\"{u}lo\u{g}lu, under the Generalised Riemann Hypothesis.

EdgeSpotter: Multi-Scale Dense Text Spotting for Industrial Panel Monitoring

Text spotting for industrial panels is a key task for intelligent monitoring. However, achieving efficient and accurate text spotting for complex industrial panels remains challenging due to issues such as cross-scale localization and ambiguous boundaries in dense text regions. Moreover, most existing methods primarily focus on representing a single text shape, neglecting a comprehensive exploration of multi-scale feature information across different texts. To address these issues, this work proposes a novel multi-scale dense text spotter for edge AI-based vision system (EdgeSpotter) to achieve accurate and robust industrial panel monitoring. Specifically, a novel Transformer with efficient mixer is developed to learn the interdependencies among multi-level features, integrating multi-layer spatial and semantic cues. In addition, a new feature sampling with catmull-rom splines is designed, which explicitly encodes the shape, position, and semantic information of text, thereby alleviating missed detections and reducing recognition errors caused by multi-scale or dense text regions. Furthermore, a new benchmark dataset for industrial panel monitoring (IPM) is constructed. Extensive qualitative and quantitative evaluations on this challenging benchmark dataset validate the superior performance of the proposed method in different challenging panel monitoring tasks. Finally, practical tests based on the self-designed edge AI-based vision system demonstrate the practicality of the method. The code and demo will be available at https://github.com/vision4robotics/EdgeSpotter.

A Composite Fault Diagnosis Model for NPPs Based on Bayesian-EfficientNet Module

This article focuses on the faults of important mechanical components such as pumps, valves, and pipelines in the reactor coolant system, main steam system, condensate system, and main feedwater system of nuclear power plants (NPPs). It proposes a composite multi-fault diagnosis model based on Bayesian algorithm and EfficientNet large model using data-driven deep learning fault diagnosis technology. The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of automatic deep learning-based large model technology through transfer learning in nuclear power plant scenarios.

Quartic Gauss sums over primes and metaplectic theta functions

We improve 1987 estimates of Patterson for sums of quartic Gauss sums over primes. Our Type-I and Type-II estimates feature new ideas, including use of the quadratic large sieve over $\mathbb{Q}(i)$, and Suzuki's evaluation of the Fourier-Whittaker coefficients of quartic theta functions at squares. We also conjecture asymptotics for certain moments of quartic Gauss sums over primes.

One-level density of zeros of Dirichlet $L$-functions over function fields

We compute the one-level density of zeros of order $\ell$ Dirichlet $L$-functions over function fields $\mathbb{F}_q[t]$ for $\ell=3,4$ in the Kummer setting ($q\equiv1\pmod{\ell}$) and for $\ell=3,4,6$ in the non-Kummer setting ($q\not\equiv1\pmod{\ell}$). In each case, we obtain a main term predicted by Random Matrix Theory (RMT) and lower order terms not predicted by RMT. We also confirm the symmetry type of the families is unitary, supporting Katz and Sarnak's philosophy.

SoGCN: Second-Order Graph Convolutional Networks

Graph Convolutional Networks (GCN) with multi-hop aggregation is more expressive than one-hop GCN but suffers from higher model complexity. Finding the shortest aggregation range that achieves comparable expressiveness and minimizes this side effect remains an open question. We answer this question by showing that multi-layer second-order graph convolution (SoGC) is sufficient to attain the ability of expressing polynomial spectral filters with arbitrary coefficients. Compared to models with one-hop aggregation, multi-hop propagation, and jump connections, SoGC possesses filter representational completeness while being lightweight, efficient, and easy to implement. Thereby, we suggest that SoGC is a simple design capable of forming the basic building block of GCNs, playing the same role as $3 \times 3$ kernels in CNNs. We build our Second-Order Graph Convolutional Networks (SoGCN) with SoGC and design a synthetic dataset to verify its filter fitting capability to validate these points. For real-world tasks, we present the state-of-the-art performance of SoGCN on the benchmark of node classification, graph classification, and graph regression datasets.

Wireless Energy Transmission Channel Modeling in Resonant Beam Charging for IoT Devices

Power supply for Internet of Things (IoT) devices is one of the bottlenecks in IoT development. To provide perpetual power supply to IoT devices, resonant beam charging (RBC) is a promising safe, long-range and high-power wireless power transfer solution. How long distance can RBC reach and how much power can RBC transfer? In this paper, we analyze the RBC's consistent and steady operational conditions, which determine the maximum power transmission distance. Moreover, we study the power transmission efficiency within the operational distance, which determines the deliverable power through the RBC energy transmission channel. Based on this energy transmission channel modeling, we numerically evaluate its impacts on the RBC system performance in terms of the transmission distance, the transmission efficiency, and the output electrical power. The analysis leads to the guidelines for the RBC system design and implementation, which can deliver multi-Watt power over multi-meter distance wirelessly for IoT devices.

First-principles studies of the Optical anisotropy of R3 space group chalcogenides crystal AX2MQ6

In order to explain the reason that all the sythesised \ce{AX2MQ6} chalcogenides compounds are phase-matching while isomorphic chalcogenides compounds \ce{AX4M5Q12} are not phase-matched materials. The linear optical property birefringence and non-linear optical property of $R3$ space group crystals \ce{AX2MQ6} have been calculated to compare with \ce{AX4M5Q12}. Their Electron Localization Function(ELF) was calculated to show that the acentricity of the bonds on $sp^3$ hybridization \ce{Q^2-} ions is the main origin of optical anisotropy. To quantificat the acentricity, a geometric parameter dihedral angle between tetrahedral undersides and xy-planes was defined. We find theoretically the birefringence depend on the defined geometric parameter and ion radius. This relation between birefringence and structure resonalbly explain the abnormal difference of birefringence of isostructural \ce{AX2MQ6} and \ce{AX4M5Q12} and useful for exploring new phase-matching IR-NLO crystals.
