BLARM: Animating 3D Objects from Video via Blending Latent Rigid Motion Primitives

We introduce BLARM, a feed-forward method for video-driven 3D mesh animation. Given a monocular video and a static object mesh, BLARM predicts a temporally coherent animated mesh whose motion follows the video. Rather than relying on explicit rigs or directly regressing high-dimensional vertex motion, we represent animation using a compact set of learned, time-varying rigid motion components and time-invariant vertex-to-component skinning weights. This yields a low-dimensional deformation space without requiring skeletons, cages, skinning weights, or rig annotations. Our architecture conditions geometry-derived deformation latents on video features through factorized spatial-temporal attention, then decodes rigid transformations blended by predicted skinning weights. Trained with trajectory reconstruction, entropy regularization, and motion-aware contrastive learning, BLARM produces accurate and temporally stable animations while recovering compact, interpretable motion structure from monocular video.

A Geodesic Cut-Cell Prior for Neural Skinning

We introduce cut-cell skinning, a geometric prior designed to augment data-driven skinning weight generation. While data-driven methods show promise in producing high-quality skinning weights, they often lack the generalizability of classic geometric approaches. To bridge this gap, we propose a geometric prior that can be robustly computed for in-the-wild meshes and is efficient for large-scale machine learning workflows. The key idea of our cut-cell skinning is a fast graph-based approximation of the volumetric geodesics distances, motivated by their importance in classic skinning weight computation. Our method achieves orders of magnitude speedup compared to optimization-based solvers and remains resilient to topological artifacts common in cage- or voxel-based alternatives. We demonstrate the efficacy of the cut-cell skinning prior by integrating it into recent neural skinning models, showing consistent improvements across existing methods and achieving state-of-the-art results. Closing the Loop: Training-Free Revisit Consistency for Autoregressive Generative Rendering

Recent conditional video generation models have shown promising potentials to transform 3D engine renderings, such as depth maps and untextured geometry, into photorealistic videos for gaming and immersive content creation. These applications require long-horizon auto-regressive generation that continuously synthesizes new frames while preserving a persistent 3D world. Auto-regressive generators synthesize video chunk by chunk with a bounded KV cache, so when the camera revisits a location after its context has been evicted, the model often regenerates inconsistent appearance, even though the conditioning renderings (e.g., depth) remain perfectly aligned with the underlying geometry. We address this revisit inconsistency without any post-training by exploiting correspondences the 3D engine already provides: temporal correspondence retrieves pose-matched historical latent chunks into the KV cache as loop-closure memory, while spatial correspondence from camera pose and depth reprojection biases token-level attention toward geometrically corresponding regions of the retrieved chunks. We demonstrate our method on loop-closure trajectories mined from TartanAir and TartanGround dataset to mirror complicate real-world application scenarios, where it outperforms existing training-free baselines on revisit consistency without losing overall video quality. RoMo: A Large-Scale, Richly Organized Dataset and Semantic Taxonomy for Human Motion Generation

Success in generative modeling across language, image, and video demonstrates that large, well-curated datasets are the key driver for building capable models. 3D Human motion, however, has lagged behind, constrained by an unsatisfying choice between small, high-fidelity motion capture datasets and large-scale in-the-wild collections dominated by static or low-quality sequences. We introduce RoMo, a rich, large-scale, carefully curated dataset of in-the-wild human motions that resolves these tradeoffs. To ensure quality, we introduce a taxonomy-aware filtering pipeline that aggressively removes static and artifact-prone sequences. Every sequence is annotated with detailed captions and organized by a novel three-level semantic taxonomy. This hierarchical structure enables fine-grained, per-category evaluation, that reveals model strengths and weaknesses obscured by global metrics. We demonstrate that models trained on RoMo achieve state-of-the-art fidelity and diversity while gaining a superior understanding of complex, subtle text prompts. Finally, we release the Motion Toolbox to standardize metrics, data conversion, and visualization, establishing a foundation for reproducible and interpretable motion generation research.

RigAnyFace: Scaling Neural Facial Mesh Auto-Rigging with Unlabeled Data

In this paper, we present RigAnyFace (RAF), a scalable neural auto-rigging framework for facial meshes of diverse topologies, including those with multiple disconnected components. RAF deforms a static neutral facial mesh into industry-standard FACS poses to form an expressive blendshape rig. Deformations are predicted by a triangulation-agnostic surface learning network augmented with our tailored architecture design to condition on FACS parameters and efficiently process disconnected components. For training, we curated a dataset of facial meshes, with a subset meticulously rigged by professional artists to serve as accurate 3D ground truth for deformation supervision. Due to the high cost of manual rigging, this subset is limited in size, constraining the generalization ability of models trained exclusively on it. To address this, we design a 2D supervision strategy for unlabeled neutral meshes without rigs. This strategy increases data diversity and allows for scaled training, thereby enhancing the generalization ability of models trained on this augmented data. Extensive experiments demonstrate that RAF is able to rig meshes of diverse topologies on not only our artist-crafted assets but also in-the-wild samples, outperforming previous works in accuracy and generalizability. Moreover, our method advances beyond prior work by supporting multiple disconnected components, such as eyeballs, for more detailed expression animation. Cube: A Roblox View of 3D Intelligence

Foundation models trained on vast amounts of data have demonstrated remarkable reasoning and generation capabilities in the domains of text, images, audio and video. Our goal at Roblox is to build such a foundation model for 3D intelligence, a model that can support developers in producing all aspects of a Roblox experience, from generating 3D objects and scenes to rigging characters for animation to producing programmatic scripts describing object behaviors. We discuss three key design requirements for such a 3D foundation model and then present our first step towards building such a model. We expect that 3D geometric shapes will be a core data type and describe our solution for 3D shape tokenizer. We show how our tokenization scheme can be used in applications for text-to-shape generation, shape-to-text generation and text-to-scene generation. We demonstrate how these applications can collaborate with existing large language models (LLMs) to perform scene analysis and reasoning. We conclude with a discussion outlining our path to building a fully unified foundation model for 3D intelligence.

SmoothCache: A Universal Inference Acceleration Technique for Diffusion Transformers

Diffusion Transformers (DiT) have emerged as powerful generative models for various tasks, including image, video, and speech synthesis. However, their inference process remains computationally expensive due to the repeated evaluation of resource-intensive attention and feed-forward modules. To address this, we introduce SmoothCache, a model-agnostic inference acceleration technique for DiT architectures. SmoothCache leverages the observed high similarity between layer outputs across adjacent diffusion timesteps. By analyzing layer-wise representation errors from a small calibration set, SmoothCache adaptively caches and reuses key features during inference. Our experiments demonstrate that SmoothCache achieves 8% to 71% speed up while maintaining or even improving generation quality across diverse modalities. We showcase its effectiveness on DiT-XL for image generation, Open-Sora for text-to-video, and Stable Audio Open for text-to-audio, highlighting its potential to enable real-time applications and broaden the accessibility of powerful DiT models.

Learning the image processing pipeline

Many creative ideas are being proposed for image sensor designs, and these may be useful in applications ranging from consumer photography to computer vision. To understand and evaluate each new design, we must create a corresponding image processing pipeline that transforms the sensor data into a form that is appropriate for the application. The need to design and optimize these pipelines is time-consuming and costly. We explain a method that combines machine learning and image systems simulation that automates the pipeline design. The approach is based on a new way of thinking of the image processing pipeline as a large collection of local linear filters. We illustrate how the method has been used to design pipelines for novel sensor architectures in consumer photography applications.
