FilterGS: Traversal-Free Parallel Filtering and Adaptive Shrinking for Large-Scale LoD 3D Gaussian Splatting

3D Gaussian Splatting has revolutionized neural rendering with real-time performance. However, scaling this approach to large scenes using Level-of-Detail methods faces critical challenges: inefficient serial traversal consuming over 60\% of rendering time, and redundant Gaussian-tile pairs that incur unnecessary processing overhead. To address these limitations, we introduce FilterGS, featuring a parallel filtering mechanism with two complementary filters that select Gaussian elements efficiently without tree traversal. Additionally, we propose a novel GTC metric that quantifies the redundancy of Gaussian-tile key-value pairs. Based on this metric, we introduce a scene-adaptive Gaussian shrinking strategy that effectively reduces redundant pairs. Extensive experiments demonstrate that FilterGS achieves state-of-the-art rendering speeds while maintaining competitive visual quality across multiple large-scale datasets. Infant Cry Detection In Noisy Environment Using Blueprint Separable Convolutions and Time-Frequency Recurrent Neural Network

Infant cry detection is a crucial component of baby care system. In this paper, we propose a lightweight and robust method for infant cry detection. The method leverages blueprint separable convolutions to reduce computational complexity, and a time-frequency recurrent neural network for adaptive denoising. The overall framework of the method is structured as a multi-scale convolutional recurrent neural network, which is enhanced by efficient spatial attention mechanism and contrast-aware channel attention module, and acquire local and global information from the input feature of log Mel-spectrogram. Multiple public datasets are adopted to create a diverse and representative dataset, and environmental corruption techniques are used to generate the noisy samples encountered in real-world scenarios. Results show that our method exceeds many state-of-the-art methods in accuracy, F1-score, and complexity under various signal-to-noise ratio conditions. Infant Cry Emotion Recognition Using Improved ECAPA-TDNN with Multiscale Feature Fusion and Attention Enhancement

Infant cry emotion recognition is crucial for parenting and medical applications. It faces many challenges, such as subtle emotional variations, noise interference, and limited data. The existing methods lack the ability to effectively integrate multi-scale features and temporal-frequency relationships. In this study, we propose a method for infant cry emotion recognition using an improved Emphasized Channel Attention, Propagation and Aggregation in Time Delay Neural Network (ECAPA-TDNN) with both multi-scale feature fusion and attention enhancement. Experiments on a public dataset show that the proposed method achieves accuracy of 82.20%, number of parameters of 1.43 MB and FLOPs of 0.32 Giga. Moreover, our method has advantage over the baseline methods in terms of accuracy. The code is at https://github.com/kkpretend/IETMA.

FedLog: Personalized Federated Classification with Less Communication and More Flexibility

Federated representation learning (FRL) aims to learn personalized federated models with effective feature extraction from local data. FRL algorithms that share the majority of the model parameters face significant challenges with huge communication overhead. This overhead stems from the millions of neural network parameters and slow aggregation progress of the averaging heuristic. To reduce the overhead, we propose to share sufficient data summaries instead of raw model parameters. The data summaries encode minimal sufficient statistics of an exponential family, and Bayesian inference is utilized for global aggregation. It helps to reduce message sizes and communication frequency. To further ensure formal privacy guarantee, we extend it with differential privacy framework. Empirical results demonstrate high learning accuracy with low communication overhead of our method.

Federated Bayesian Neural Regression: A Scalable Global Federated Gaussian Process

In typical scenarios where the Federated Learning (FL) framework applies, it is common for clients to have insufficient training data to produce an accurate model. Thus, models that provide not only point estimations, but also some notion of confidence are beneficial. Gaussian Process (GP) is a powerful Bayesian model that comes with naturally well-calibrated variance estimations. However, it is challenging to learn a stand-alone global GP since merging local kernels leads to privacy leakage. To preserve privacy, previous works that consider federated GPs avoid learning a global model by focusing on the personalized setting or learning an ensemble of local models. We present Federated Bayesian Neural Regression (FedBNR), an algorithm that learns a scalable stand-alone global federated GP that respects clients' privacy. We incorporate deep kernel learning and random features for scalability by defining a unifying random kernel. We show this random kernel can recover any stationary kernel and many non-stationary kernels. We then derive a principled approach of learning a global predictive model as if all client data is centralized. We also learn global kernels with knowledge distillation methods for non-identically and independently distributed (non-i.i.d.) clients. Experiments are conducted on real-world regression datasets and show statistically significant improvements compared to other federated GP models.
