L-Learning : A Lyapunov-Based Approach Leveraging Lagrangian Mechanics for Efficient and Stable Robot Tracking

This paper presents L-Learning, a novel data-driven control framework for robotics that integrates Lyapunov stability theory with Lagrangian mechanics to enhance trajectory tracking performance. While traditional control methods often suffer from performance degradation in dynamic and uncertain environments, data-driven approaches, while more adaptable, are frequently limited by high sample complexity and a lack of rigorous stability guarantees. L-Learning mitigates these challenges by explicitly learning the system's energy function from data, thereby optimizing performance while ensuring closed-loop stability intrinsically. Characterized by superior control accuracy, theoretical stability guarantees, and high sample efficiency, L-Learning represents a promising solution for practical robotic applications.

FuXi-Nowcast: Environment-conditioned deep learning for severe convection nowcasting

Severe convection produces localized hazards that often require warnings before radar echoes fully reveal storm development. Convective initiation and the maintenance of intense convection remain challenging for radar-only nowcasting because pre-convective signals may be absent from recent radar observations and strong echoes often decay rapidly in forecasts. Here we present FuXi-Nowcast, an environment-conditioned deep learning system that combines high-resolution observations with three-dimensional atmospheric forecasts to predict composite reflectivity, precipitation, wind gusts, and surface variables up to 12 h ahead. In April--July 2024 evaluations over East China, FuXi-Nowcast outperforms operational numerical, persistence and extrapolation baselines for reflectivity and precipitation. Case studies, diagnostics, and ablation experiments suggest that atmospheric moisture information and explicit preservation of strong convective signals contribute to forecasts of convective initiation and maintenance. These results show that environmental conditioning can mitigate important failure modes of radar-only nowcasting for high-impact convective weather.

Fill the GAP: A Granular Alignment Paradigm for Visual Reasoning in Multimodal Large Language Models

Visual latent reasoning lets a multimodal large language model (MLLM) create intermediate visual evidence as continuous tokens, avoiding external tools or image generators. However, existing methods usually follow an output-as-input latent paradigm and yield unstable gains. We identify evidence for a feature-space mismatch that can contribute to this instability: dominant visual-latent models build on pre-norm MLLMs and reuse decoder hidden states as predicted latent inputs, even though these states occupy a substantially different norm regime from the input embeddings the model was trained to consume (Xie et al., 2025; Li et al., 2026; Team et al., 2026). This mismatch can make direct latent feedback unreliable. Motivated by this diagnosis, we propose GAP, a Granular Alignment Paradigm for visual latent modeling. GAP aligns visual latent reasoning at three levels: feature-level alignment maps decoder outputs into input-compatible visual latents through a lightweight PCA-aligned latent head; context-level alignment grounds latent targets with inspectable auxiliary visual supervision; and capacity-guided alignment assigns latent supervision selectively to examples where the base MLLM struggles. On Qwen2.5-VL 7B, the resulting model achieves the best mean aggregate perception and reasoning performance among our supervised variants. Inference-time intervention probing further suggests that generated latents provide task-relevant visual signal beyond merely adding token slots.

Rethinking VLM Representation for VLA Initialization

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models widely adopt pretrained Vision-Language Models (VLMs) as policy backbones, yet it remains unclear what kind of pretrained VLM representation is useful as a VLA initialization. In this paper, we study VLA initialization as a controlled representation-design problem along three axes: capability-level embodied VQA supervision, parameter-update strategy, and robot-data pretraining. Our experiments show that the original pretrained VLM representation is a key source of action performance. However, embodied VQA adaptation does not yield uniform gains: its benefit depends on downstream bottlenecks, and gains from different capability domains are not simply additive. For update strategy, LoRA provides a more reliable initialization than Full Finetune, indicating that overly reshaping the pretrained representation can weaken VLA initialization. Robot-data pretraining further improves VLA initialization, with the strongest variant obtained by staged LoRA-based training. Together, these findings suggest that effective VLM-to-VLA adaptation should inject action-relevant embodied and robot-trajectory signals while preserving the pretrained VLM representation that remains useful for action learning.

Re-evaluation of bottleneck effect via a coupled monolayer WS_2/photonic crystal heterostructure

Exciton-polariton condensates is an important type of Bose-Einstein condensate whose realization requires efficient relaxation of polaritons to the band-energy minima. However, this process is often obstructed by bottleneck effect near the anticrossing region of polariton dispersion. Although the exciton-polariton bottleneck effect has been extensively observed in various polariton system, but there is no a unified views of physical origin. Here, we construct an exciton-trion-photon coupling system in monolayer WS_2/photonic-crystal slab heterostructures. Momentum-resolved photoluminescence reveals the anticrossing polariton dispersions for the exciton resonance with a ~57 meV Rabi splitting and there is no characteristic anticrossing for trion resonance with a ~5 meV splitting at ~12 K. Enhanced polariton emission is observed around the trion-polariton crossing with elevating temperature. We attributes this exotic phenomenon to bottleneck effect and indicating that small Rabi splitting is the unified origin of bottleneck effect in polariton systems.

Echo4DIR: 4D Implicit Heart Reconstruction from 2D Echocardiography Videos

Reconstructing 4D (3D+t) cardiac geometry from sparse 2D echocardiography is highly desirable yet fundamentally challenged by geometric ambiguity and temporal discontinuity. To tackle these issues, we propose Echo4DIR, a novel test-time 4D implicit reconstruction framework. Specifically, we learn robust 3D shape priors from statistical shape models (SSMs) via a cardiac conditional SDF, constructing an Epipolar Mask Encoder module with epipolar cross attention to effectively fuse multi-view features. To bridge the synthetic-to-real domain gap, we introduce a self-supervised SDF-tailored differentiable rendering strategy for patient-specific 3D shape adaptation using uncalibrated clinical masks without requiring 3D ground truth. Crucially, the inherent continuity of implicit representation overcomes sparse observations, enabling anatomically reliable geometry at arbitrary resolutions. Furthermore, to empower our framework with physically continuous 4D extension, we introduce a Radial SDF Alignment strategy that strictly locks shape evolution to the predicted velocity field, fundamentally eliminating mesh drift. Extensive experiments on synthetic benchmarks and real clinical datasets demonstrate that Echo4DIR achieves state-of-the-art 4D cardiac mesh reconstruction, notably yielding an impressive clinical overlap of up to 98.35% Dice and 96.75% IoU.

Building a physics-aware AI ecosystem for solid-state hydrogen storage materials

Hydrogen storage remains a central bottleneck for scalable hydrogen energy systems due to the multiscale and coupled nature of the thermodynamics, kinetics, and microstructural evolution of hydrogen storage materials (HSMs). Although artificial intelligence (AI) has accelerated materials discovery, current approaches remain constrained by fragmented data, limited physical consistency, and weak integration with experimental validation. Here, we propose a unified framework that integrates coherent data infrastructure, physics-grounded modeling, and AI-driven inverse design within a closed-loop discovery paradigm. By embedding physical constraints and experimental feedback, this approach enables adaptive, physically consistent optimization, thereby establishing a pathway toward autonomous, digital-twin-enabled discovery of HSMs.

Lance: Unified Multimodal Modeling by Multi-Task Synergy

We present Lance, a lightweight native unified model supporting multimodal understanding, generation, and editing for both images and videos. Rather than relying on model capacity scaling or text-image-dominant designs, Lance explores a practical paradigm for unified multimodal modeling via collaborative multi-task training. It is grounded in two core principles: unified context modeling and decoupled capability pathways. Specifically, Lance is trained from scratch and employs a dual-stream mixture-of-experts architecture on shared interleaved multimodal sequences, enabling joint context learning while decoupling the pathways for understanding and generation. We further introduce modality-aware rotary positional encoding to mitigate interference among heterogeneous visual tokens and boost cross-task alignment. During training, Lance adopts a staged multi-task training paradigm with capability-oriented objectives and adaptive data scheduling to strengthen both semantic comprehension and visual generation performance. Experimental results demonstrate that Lance substantially outperforms existing open-source unified models in image and video generation, while retaining strong multimodal understanding capabilities. RePCM: Region-Specific and Phenotype-Adaptive Bi-Ventricular Cardiac Motion Synthesis

Cardiac motion over a cardiac cycle is crucial for quantifying regional function and is strongly affected by cardiovascular diseases. Since temporally dense mesh sequences are difficult to obtain in practice, we focus on leveraging the more accessible end-diastolic frame to infer a full-cycle sequence. Due to strong regional and disease-specific differences, traditional methods often oversmooth the data by relying on generative models that are optimized for global patterns. To address this problem, we propose Region-Aware and Phenotype-Adaptive Bi-Ventricular Cardiac Motion Synthesis (RePCM) for single frame Bi-ventricular mesh motion completion. In Stage I, a reconstruction network learns vertex wise motion descriptors and clustering yields a data driven functional partition, providing an explicit motion derived region structure. In Stage II, a Region-Specific Injection Module enforces masked, synchronized region exchange within a conditional VAE, preserving localized specific dynamics and restricting cross-region mixing. A Phenotype-Adaptive Mixture-of-Experts prior conditioned on ED shape uses anatomy-guided cues to model latent motion trends and capture inter-disease variability. Experiments on three datasets covering different cardiovascular diseases show consistent gains in geometric and functional metrics and improved preservation of region specific dynamics.

Beyond Extrapolation: Knowledge Utilization Paradigm with Bidirectional Inspiration for Time Series Forecasting

Time-series forecasting is critical in various scenarios, such as energy, transportation, and public health. However, most existing forecasters rely primarily on one-way inference, \textit{i.e.}, mapping \textbf{history} to \textbf{target}, and overlook the structural information provided by a revised natural chain (``\textbf{history} (model input) -- \textbf{target} (ground-truth output) -- \textbf{post-target continuation}''). The post-target continuation records how trajectories evolve after the target, which can help stabilize forecasting, but it is not observable at inference time. In this work, we aim to obtain an approximate proxy of the post-target continuation for the current input, providing structural knowledge for bidirectional forecasting. This idea is instantiated as KUP-BI (Knowledge Utilization Paradigm with Bidirectional Inspiration), a new time-series modeling paradigm that distills continuation-style knowledge (as an approximate post-target continuation proxy) from a \emph{train-only} historical library and integrates it into standard forecasting backbones. The input stream and the continuation-proxy stream are fused via a lightweight feature-level gating module. This design does not introduce information beyond what is already contained in the training trajectories; instead, it provides a structured inductive bias that helps backbones exploit typical continuation patterns rather than relying solely on parametric extrapolation. Experimental results on six public datasets show that KUP-BI consistently improves the forecasting performance of state-of-the-art models, with small additional overhead.

Agentic Discovery of Cryomicroneedle Formulations

Cryomicroneedles offer a route to minimally invasive intradermal delivery of living cells, but their cryogenic formulations must reconcile cell protection with constraints on toxicity and device fabrication. Here we report an AI-assisted, closed-loop workflow for cryomicroneedle cryoprotectant discovery that combines literature curation, Gaussian-process surrogate modelling, Bayesian optimization, and sequential wet-lab validation. A curated dataset of 198 mesenchymal stem-cell cryopreservation formulations from 42 studies was converted into 21 ingredient features and used to train an uncertainty-aware literature prior. This model captured moderate structure in the literature data but failed prospectively, motivating iterative wet-lab correction. Across ten validation iterations and 106 wet-lab observations, the model progressively adapted to cryomicroneedle-specific outcomes: batch RMSE decreased from 41.21 to 6.86 percentage points, later-stage rank correlations became consistently positive, and the cumulative wet-lab predicted-versus-measured summary reached $R^2 = 0.942$. The best validated formulation achieved 95.15\% post-thaw viability with low DMSO, ectoin, ethylene glycol, and fetal bovine serum. However, high viability alone did not ensure intact cryomicroneedle formation, highlighting the need for future multi-objective optimization. These results demonstrate that agent-assisted computational infrastructure can make data-efficient formulation discovery more accessible to labs with minimal data expertise in-house. SIPO: Stabilized and Improved Preference Optimization for Aligning Diffusion Models

Preference learning has garnered extensive attention as an effective technique for aligning diffusion models with human preferences in visual generation. However, existing alignment approaches such as Diffusion-DPO suffer from two fundamental challenges: training instability caused by high gradient variances at various timesteps and high parameter sensitivities, and off-policy bias arising from the discrepancy between the optimization data and the policy models' distribution. Our first contribution is a systematic analysis of diffusion trajectories across different timesteps, identifying that the instability primarily originates from early timesteps with low importance weights. To address these issues, we propose \textbf{SIPO}, a \textbf{S}tabilized and \textbf{I}mproved \textbf{P}reference \textbf{O}ptimization framework for aligning diffusion models with human preferences. Concretely, a key gradient, \emph{i.e.,} DPO-C\&M is introduced to stabilize training by clipping and masking uninformative timesteps. This is followed by a timestep-aware importance-reweighting paradigm to mitigate off-policy bias and emphasize informative updates throughout the alignment process. Extensive experiments on various baseline models including image generation models on SD1.5, SDXL, and video generation models CogVideoX-2B/5B, Wan2.1-1.3B, demonstrate that our SIPO consistently promotes stabilized training and outperforms existing alignment methods that with meticulous adjustments on parameters.Overall, these results suggest the importance of timestep-aware alignment and provide valuable guidelines for improved preference optimization in aligning diffusion models.

Integrated time-bin entangled quantum light source on a 4H-SiC microring chip

Integrated time-bin-entangled photon-pair source with cavity-enhanced nonlinear optical processes is essential for quantum information technologies. However, microcavities with a high quality factor inherently introduce a trade-off between generation efficiency and photon bandwidth, which hinders the development of high-speed quantum networks with an integrated source. Here, we address this challenge by optimizing the nonlinearity property of the material and the geometry of the integrated microring resonator with a 4H-silicon carbide platform. Operating at a loaded quality factor of 1.9 $\times$ 10^5 - spectral bandwidth of 1.0 GHz and pumped with 300-ps double pulses separated by 1.25 ns at a repetition rate of 160 MHz, the device achieves a time-bin-entangled photon-pair generation rate of 1.35 $\times$ 10^7 s^-1 mW^-2. A raw visibility of 95.55 $\pm$ 0.18% is measured, showing a violation of Bell's inequality by more than 138 standard deviations, and a fidelity of 94.37 $\pm$ 0.22% is obtained by quantum state tomography. These results provide a scalable pathway to an efficient and broadband time-bin entangled quantum light source, overcoming intrinsic limitations of cavity-based designs and advancing integrated platforms for future quantum communication networks.

Handling Control System Uncertainty

Control science is a core representative of the third industrial revolution and is so important to modern civilization. Control systems are the main subject of control science and may involve many aspects of consideration, such as hardware consideration, software consideration, operation consideration, maintenance consideration, economy consideration, society consideration. However, besides all such aspects of consideration, one aspect that is most essential to the control system is methodology consideration in mathematical sense, knowledge on which is what we refer to as control theory. Besides its importance from the mathematical perspective, control theory is even more charming as it is deeply rooted in practical applications. Charms of control theory consist in both know-why and know-how and it is the fusion of control theory and practical applications that highlights such charms. Control theory for practical applications, especially when somewhat with so-called ``advanced'' flavour, involves several fundamental aspects. This article introduces the Handling Control System Uncertainty aspect of Advanced Control Theory for Practical Applications.

Dynamic Aspects of Bumblebee Gravity: Post-Newtonian Approach

In this work, we investigate the dynamic aspects of Bumblebee gravity via the parameterized post-Newtonian method. We find that the PPN framework is self-consistent up to 1.5PN order if and only if $λ= -ξ/2$, which corresponds to a direct coupling between the Bumblebee field $B_μ$ and the Einstein tensor. The requirement of tachyonic stability restricts the Bumblebee potential to satisfy $V''(0)=0$. In the specific case where $λ= -ξ/2$, the resulting PPN metric yields non-vanishing values for the parameters $α_1$ and $α_2$, as well as a novel PPN potential $U_B$ that exhibits a logarithmic asymptotic growth. The vanishing of the potential $U_B$ necessitates the additional constraints $ξ= κ/2$ or $V^{(3)}(0) = 0$. These results signify the presence of preferred-frame effects, a direct consequence of the Lorentz symmetry breaking in the model. In the limit of small $\ell$, we obtain $α_2 \simeq -\ell_2$, which yields a constraint of $|\ell| \lesssim 1.6\times 10^{-9}$ based on pulsar timing observations.

AgentKernelArena: Generalization-Aware Benchmarking of GPU Kernel Optimization Agents

GPU kernel optimization is increasingly critical for efficient deep learning systems, but writing high-performance kernels still requires substantial low-level expertise. Recent AI coding agents can iteratively read code, invoke compilers and profilers, and refine implementations, yet existing kernel benchmarks evaluate single LLM calls rather than full agent workflows, and none include both kernel-to-kernel optimization and unseen-configuration generalization testing. We present AgentKernelArena, an open-source benchmark for measuring AI coding agents on GPU kernel optimization. The benchmark contains 196 tasks spanning HIP-to-HIP optimization, Triton-to-Triton optimization, and PyTorch-to-HIP translation, and evaluates complete agent workflows in isolated workspaces using gated compilation, correctness, and performance checks, centralized scoring and an unseen-configuration generalization protocol that tests whether optimizations transfer to input configurations the agent never observed. Across production agents including Cursor Agent, Claude Code, and Codex Agent, we find near-perfect compilation and high correctness rates on most task categories, with the strongest configurations achieving mean speedups of up to 6.89x on PyTorch-to-HIP, 6.69x on HIP-to-HIP, and 2.13x on Triton-to-Triton tasks. Our unseen-configuration evaluation shows that HIP-to-HIP and Triton-to-Triton optimizations largely transfer to unseen input shapes, while PyTorch-to-HIP exhibits substantial correctness drops, indicating that agents generating kernels from scratch frequently hardcode shape-specific assumptions. AgentKernelArena is designed as a modular, extensible framework for rigorous evaluation of agentic GPU kernel optimization across agents, tasks, and hardware targets.

LUIVITON: Learned Universal Interoperable VIrtual Try-ON

To enable large-scale reuse of real-world 3D assets, where garments and characters rarely share skeletons, templates, or dense correspondences, we present a fully automated virtual try-on system that dresses complex, multi-layer garments onto diverse, arbitrarily posed humanoids. Our key idea is to use SMPL as an intermediate proxy and decompose clothing-to-body transfer into two correspondence tasks with distinct challenges: (1) clothing-to-SMPL (partial-to-complete alignment) and (2) body-to-SMPL (large pose/shape variation and stylization). We address clothing-to-SMPL using a geometry-driven correspondence model, and introduce a diffusion-based body-to-SMPL correspondence approach that leverages multi-view consistent appearance features together with a pretrained 2D foundation model. Using these correspondences, we register SMPL/SMPL+D (Displacement) to the garment and target body and then perform simulator-driven fitting by transferring the garment along a smooth SMPL-to-SMPL+D transition, producing physically plausible draping on the target. Our system handles complex garment topology (including non-manifold meshes) and generalizes to a wide range of humanoid characters (e.g., humans, robots, cartoons, and creatures) while remaining computationally practical. Upon draping, our system also supports fast customization of clothing size. We show that our system can produce high-quality 3D clothing fittings without any human labor, even when 2D clothing sewing patterns are not available. From Pairs to Sequences: Track-Aware Policy Gradients for Keypoint Detection

Keypoint-based matching is a fundamental component of modern 3D vision systems, such as Structure-from-Motion (SfM) and SLAM. Most existing learning-based methods are trained on image pairs, a paradigm that fails to explicitly optimize for the long-term trackability of keypoints across sequences under challenging viewpoint and illumination changes. In this paper, we reframe keypoint detection as a sequential decision-making problem. We introduce TraqPoint, a novel, end-to-end Reinforcement Learning (RL) framework designed to optimize the \textbf{Tra}ck-\textbf{q}uality (Traq) of keypoints directly on image sequences. Our core innovation is a track-aware reward mechanism that jointly encourages the consistency and distinctiveness of keypoints across multiple views, guided by a policy gradient method. Extensive evaluations on sparse matching benchmarks, including relative pose estimation and 3D reconstruction, demonstrate that TraqPoint significantly outperforms some state-of-the-art (SOTA) keypoint detection and description methods. The code will be available at https://github.com/xiaomi-research/traqpoint.
