Open-UniMo: Towards Unified Motion-Language Understanding and Generation in the Open World

Unified motion generation and understanding is crucial for embodied AI systems that can both synthesize and interpret human actions in open-world environments. Existing motion-language models often treat motion as an auxiliary modality of a language model, leading to text-dominated representations and limited cross-modal interaction. Moreover, the next-token prediction paradigm is not naturally suited to long motion sequences, where autoregressive generation may accumulate prediction errors. To address these challenges, we propose Open-UniMo, a unified Large Motion-Language Model (LMLM) trained on million-scale open-world motion-language data. Open-UniMo promotes modality parity by extending Qwen's vocabulary of about 150K text tokens with 64K motion tokens, enabling motion and language to share a unified token space. We further introduce motion-consistent Chain-of-Thought reasoning as an intermediate representation to bridge language semantics and motion dynamics. Open-UniMo is trained with a two-stage pipeline, where supervised fine-tuning establishes CoT-guided bidirectional motion-language mapping and Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) improves semantic alignment while mitigating cumulative errors in autoregressive motion-token generation. To support comprehensive evaluation, we propose Open-MoBench, a VLM-guided benchmark for assessing text-to-motion (T2M) generation, motion-to-text (M2T) understanding, and bidirectional consistency. Extensive experiments show that Open-UniMo achieves state-of-the-art performance on both conventional metrics and Open-MoBench. Furthermore, ablation studies reveal that M2T understanding is not primarily limited by motion-token vocabulary size; instead, coupling M2T with the learnable T2M generation path yields stronger cross-modal representations, demonstrating that generation can facilitate understanding in AR-based motion-language modeling.

DIVA: Exploiting Cross-Step Conditional Propagation for Visual Jailbreaks in Discrete Diffusion Vision-Language Models

Large vision-language models (VLMs) are increasingly deployed in safety-critical settings, yet existing visual jailbreak research has focused almost exclusively on autoregressive architectures, leaving an important emerging family unstudied: multimodal discrete diffusion vision-language models (dVLMs). We identify a vulnerability specific to diffusion generation: because the visual embedding conditions every reverse denoising step rather than acting as a one-time prefix, adversarial visual semantics are repeatedly propagated and amplified across the generation trajectory, a phenomenon we term cross-step conditional propagation. We provide empirical evidence through stage-sensitivity analysis, prompt-level switch rates, and pairwise denoising-bin disagreement metrics, confirmed by bootstrap resampling. We propose DIVA (Discrete-diffusion Vision-language model Attack), a white-box visual jailbreak framework using cross-modal intent obfuscation and diffusion-aware multi-timestep adversarial optimization. Across three dVLMs, DIVA reaches 58.8%, 67.7%, and 69.1% HADES ASR under the Beaver reward-model metric, outperforming visual jailbreak baselines designed for autoregressive models. Hunyuan3D-Buffalo 1.0: A Unified Multimodal Model for Scalable 3D Generation, Understanding, and Editing

Recent advances in image generation have demonstrated the potential of unified multimodal models that integrate understanding, generation, and editing. However, unified 3D modeling remains constrained by scarce multimodal data, particularly the lack of large-scale and geometrically consistent editing data. To address this limitation, we propose Hunyuan3D-Buffalo 1.0, a unified framework supporting 3D understanding, text-to-3D generation, instruction-guided 3D editing, and text-grounded part generation within a single architecture. To enable scalable training, we construct an 87M-scale 3D multimodal corpus, comprising 25M understanding samples, 50M text-to-3D pairs, and 12M editing pairs generated using Nano3D-v2. Architecturally, the framework combines Hunyuan3D-VLM for semantic, structural, and spatial understanding with Hunyuan3D DiT for high-fidelity 3D synthesis. The VLM provides multimodal semantic conditions for generation, while editing and part generation additionally condition the diffusion process on the source object representation to preserve its overall structure and unedited regions. Extensive experiments show that Hunyuan3D-Buffalo 1.0 achieves state-of-the-art or leading performance on text-to-3D generation and 3D editing benchmarks, while exhibiting strong understanding and part-generation capabilities. Our analysis further shows that both generation and understanding improve editing, demonstrating the effectiveness of unified 3D multimodal training. UniMo: Unified Motion Generation and Understanding with Chain of Thought

Existing 3D human motion generation and understanding methods often exhibit limited interpretability, restricting effective mutual enhancement between these inherently related tasks. While current unified frameworks based on large language models (LLMs) leverage linguistic priors, they frequently encounter challenges in semantic alignment and task coherence. Moreover, the next-token prediction paradigm in LLMs is ill-suited for motion sequences, causing cumulative prediction errors. To address these limitations, we propose UniMo, a novel framework that integrates motion-language information and interpretable chain of thought (CoT) reasoning into the LLM via supervised fine-tuning (SFT). We further introduce reinforcement learning with Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) as a post-training strategy that optimizes over groups of tokens to enforce structural correctness and semantic alignment, mitigating cumulative errors in motion token prediction. Extensive experiments demonstrate that UniMo significantly outperforms existing unified and task-specific models, achieving state-of-the-art performance in both motion generation and understanding.

Towards Fine-Grained Human Motion Video Captioning

Generating accurate descriptions of human actions in videos remains a challenging task for video captioning models. Existing approaches often struggle to capture fine-grained motion details, resulting in vague or semantically inconsistent captions. In this work, we introduce the Motion-Augmented Caption Model (M-ACM), a novel generative framework that enhances caption quality by incorporating motion-aware decoding. At its core, M-ACM leverages motion representations derived from human mesh recovery to explicitly highlight human body dynamics, thereby reducing hallucinations and improving both semantic fidelity and spatial alignment in the generated captions. To support research in this area, we present the Human Motion Insight (HMI) Dataset, comprising 115K video-description pairs focused on human movement, along with HMI-Bench, a dedicated benchmark for evaluating motion-focused video captioning. Experimental results demonstrate that M-ACM significantly outperforms previous methods in accurately describing complex human motions and subtle temporal variations, setting a new standard for motion-centric video captioning.
