Robust Transceiver Design for RIS Enhanced Dual-Functional Radar-Communication with Movable Antenna

Movable antennas (MAs) have demonstrated significant potential in enhancing the performance of dual-functional radar-communication (DFRC) systems. In this paper, we explore an MA-aided DFRC system that utilizes a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) to enhance signal coverage for communications in dead zones. To enhance the radar sensing performance in practical DFRC environments, we propose a unified robust transceiver design framework aimed at maximizing the minimum radar signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) in a cluttered environment. Our approach jointly optimizes transmit beamforming, receive filtering, antenna placement, and RIS reflecting coefficients under imperfect channel state information (CSI) for both sensing and communication channels. To deal with the channel uncertainty-constrained issue, we leverage the convex hull method to transform the primal problem into a more tractable form. We then introduce a two-layer block coordinate descent (BCD) algorithm, incorporating fractional programming (FP), successive convex approximation (SCA), S-Lemma, and penalty techniques to reformulate it into a series of semidefinite program (SDP) subproblems that can be efficiently solved. We provide a comprehensive analysis of the convergence and computational complexity for the proposed design framework. Simulation results demonstrate the robustness of the proposed method, and show that the MA-based design framework can significantly enhance the radar SINR performance while achieving an effective balance between the radar and communication performance.

A3: Android Agent Arena for Mobile GUI Agents with Essential-State Procedural Evaluation

The advancement of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) has catalyzed the development of mobile graphic user interface (GUI) AI agents, which is designed to autonomously perform tasks on mobile devices. However, a significant gap persists in mobile GUI agent evaluation, where existing benchmarks predominantly rely on either static frame assessments such as AndroidControl or offline static apps such as AndroidWorld and thus fail to capture agent performance in dynamic, real-world online mobile apps. To address this gap, we present Android Agent Arena (A3), a novel "essential-state" based procedural evaluation system for mobile GUI agents. A3 introduces a benchmark of 100 tasks derived from 20 widely-used, dynamic online apps across 20 categories from the Google Play Store, ensuring evaluation comprehension. A3 also presents a novel "essential-state" based procedural evaluation method that leverages MLLMs as reward models to progressively verify task completion and process achievement. This evaluation approach address the limitations of traditional function based evaluation methods on online dynamic apps. Furthermore, A3 includes a toolkit to streamline Android device interaction, reset online environment and apps and facilitate data collection from both human and agent demonstrations. The complete A3 system, including the benchmark and tools, will be publicly released to provide a robust foundation for future research and development in mobile GUI agents.

A Comprehensive Survey of 3GPP Release 19 ISAC Channel Modeling: From Empirical Features to Unified Methodology and Standardized Simulator

Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) has been identified as a key 6G application by ITU and 3GPP. Channel measurement and modeling is a prerequisite for ISAC system design and has attracted widespread attention from both academia and industry. 3GPP Release 19 initiated the ISAC channel study item in December 2023 and finalized its modeling specification in May 2025 after extensive technical discussions. However, a comprehensive survey that provides a systematic overview, from empirical channel features to modeling methodologies and standardized simulators, remains unavailable. In this paper, the key requirements and challenges in ISAC channel research are first analyzed, followed by a structured overview of the standardization workflow throughout the 3GPP Release 19 process. Then, critical aspects of ISAC channels, including physical objects, target channels, and background channels, are examined in depth, together with additional features such as spatial consistency, environment objects, Doppler characteristics, and shared clusters, supported by measurement-based analysis. To establish a unified ISAC channel modeling framework, an Extended Geometry-based Stochastic Model (E-GBSM) is proposed, incorporating all the aforementioned ISAC channel characteristics. Finally, a standardized simulator is developed based on E-GBSM, and a two-phase calibration procedure aligned with 3GPP Release 19 is conducted to validate both the model and the simulator, demonstrating close agreement with industrial reference results. Overall, this paper provides a systematic survey of 3GPP Release 19 ISAC channel standardization and offers insights into best practices for new feature characterization, unified modeling methodology, and standardized simulator implementation, which can effectively supporting ISAC technology evaluation and future 6G standardization.

A Novel Multi-Reference-Point Modeling Framework for Monostatic Background Channel: Toward 3GPP ISAC Standardization

Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) has been identified as a key 6G application by ITU and 3GPP. A realistic, standard-compatible channel model is essential for ISAC system design. To characterize the impact of Sensing Targets (STs), 3GPP defines ISAC channel as a combination of target and background channels, comprising multipath components related to STs and those originating solely from the environment, respectively. Although the background channel does not carry direct ST information, its accurate modeling is critical for evaluating sensing performance, especially in complex environments. Existing communication standards characterize propagation between separated transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx). However, modeling background channels in the ISAC monostatic mode, where the Tx and Rx are co-located, remains a pressing challenge. In this paper, we firstly conduct ISAC monostatic background channel measurements for an indoor scenario at 28 GHz. Realistic channel parameters are extracted, revealing pronounced single-hop propagation and discrete multipath distribution. Inspired by these properties, a novel stochastic model is proposed to characterizing the ISAC monostatic background channel as the superposition of sub-channels between the monostatic Tx&Rx and multiple communication Rx-like Reference Points (RPs). This model is compatible with standardizations, and a 3GPP-extended implementation framework is introduced. Finally, a genetic algorithm-based method is proposed to extract the optimal number and placement of multi-RPs. The optimization approach and modeling framework are validated by comparing measured and simulated channel parameters. Results demonstrate that the proposed model effectively captures monostatic background channel characteristics, addresses a critical gap in ISAC channel modeling, and supports 6G standardization.

Active Next-Best-View Optimization for Risk-Averse Path Planning

Safe navigation in uncertain environments requires planning methods that integrate risk aversion with active perception. In this work, we present a unified framework that refines a coarse reference path by constructing tail-sensitive risk maps from Average Value-at-Risk statistics on an online-updated 3D Gaussian-splat Radiance Field. These maps enable the generation of locally safe and feasible trajectories. In parallel, we formulate Next-Best-View (NBV) selection as an optimization problem on the SE(3) pose manifold, where Riemannian gradient descent maximizes an expected information gain objective to reduce uncertainty most critical for imminent motion. Our approach advances the state-of-the-art by coupling risk-averse path refinement with NBV planning, while introducing scalable gradient decompositions that support efficient online updates in complex environments. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework through extensive computational studies.

Character Mixing for Video Generation

Imagine Mr. Bean stepping into Tom and Jerry--can we generate videos where characters interact naturally across different worlds? We study inter-character interaction in text-to-video generation, where the key challenge is to preserve each character's identity and behaviors while enabling coherent cross-context interaction. This is difficult because characters may never have coexisted and because mixing styles often causes style delusion, where realistic characters appear cartoonish or vice versa. We introduce a framework that tackles these issues with Cross-Character Embedding (CCE), which learns identity and behavioral logic across multimodal sources, and Cross-Character Augmentation (CCA), which enriches training with synthetic co-existence and mixed-style data. Together, these techniques allow natural interactions between previously uncoexistent characters without losing stylistic fidelity. Experiments on a curated benchmark of cartoons and live-action series with 10 characters show clear improvements in identity preservation, interaction quality, and robustness to style delusion, enabling new forms of generative storytelling.Additional results and videos are available on our project page: https://tingtingliao.github.io/mimix/.

6G Channel Modeling: Requirement, Measurement, Methodology and Simulator

Sixth-generation (6G) mobile communications have attracted substantial attention in the global research community of information and communication technologies (ICTs). 6G systems are expected to support not only extended 5G usage scenarios but also new usage scenarios, such as integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), integrated artificial intelligence (AI) and communication, and communication and ubiquitous connectivity. To achieve this goal, channel characteristics must be comprehensively studied and properly exploited to promote the design, standardization, and optimization of 6G systems. In this paper, we first summarize the requirements and challenges in 6G channel research. Our focus is on channels for six promising technologies enabling 6G, including ISAC, extremely large-scale MIMO (XL-MIMO), mid-band and terahertz (THz) technologies, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs), and space-air-ground integrated networks (SAGINs). A survey of the progress in 6G channel research regarding the above six promising technologies is presented in terms of the latest measurement campaigns, new characteristics, modeling methods, and research prospects. To support testing, optimization and evaluation, existing 6G channel simulators are summarized. Then, BUPTCMCCCMG-IMT2030 is introduced as an example of a simulator that was developed on the basis of the ITU/3GPP 3D geometry-based stochastic model (GBSM) methodology. We also address open issues covering standardization activities, AI-enabled methods, and system performance analysis in the context of 6G channel research. This paper offers in-depth, hands-on insights into the best practices of channel measurements, modeling, and simulations for the evaluation of 6G technologies, the development of 6G standards, and the implementation and optimization of 6G systems.

Robust Optimization for Movable Antenna-aided Cell-Free ISAC with Time Synchronization Errors

The cell-free integrated sensing and communication (CF-ISAC) system, which effectively mitigates intra-cell interference and provides precise sensing accuracy, is a promising technology for future 6G networks. However, to fully capitalize on the potential of CF-ISAC, accurate time synchronization (TS) between access points (APs) is critical. Due to the limitations of current synchronization technologies, TS errors have become a significant challenge in the development of the CF-ISAC system. In this paper, we propose a novel CF-ISAC architecture based on movable antennas (MAs), which exploits spatial diversity to enhance communication rates, maintain sensing accuracy, and reduce the impact of TS errors. We formulate a worst-case sensing accuracy optimization problem for TS errors to address this challenge, deriving the worst-case Cramér-Rao lower bound (CRLB). Subsequently, we develop a joint optimization framework for AP beamforming and MA positions to satisfy communication rate constraints while improving sensing accuracy. A robust optimization framework is designed for the highly complex and non-convex problem. Specifically, we employ manifold optimization (MO) to solve the worst-case sensing accuracy optimization problem. Then, we propose an MA-enabled meta-reinforcement learning (MA-MetaRL) to design optimization variables while satisfying constraints on MA positions, communication rate, and transmit power, thereby improving sensing accuracy. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed robust optimization algorithm significantly improves the accuracy of the detection and is strong against TS errors. Moreover, compared to conventional fixed position antenna (FPA) technologies, the proposed MA-aided CF-ISAC architecture achieves higher system capacity, thus validating its effectiveness.

FlightPatchNet: Multi-Scale Patch Network with Differential Coding for Flight Trajectory Prediction

Accurate multi-step flight trajectory prediction plays an important role in Air Traffic Control, which can ensure the safety of air transportation. Two main issues limit the flight trajectory prediction performance of existing works. The first issue is the negative impact on prediction accuracy caused by the significant differences in data range. The second issue is that real-world flight trajectories involve underlying temporal dependencies, and most existing methods fail to reveal the hidden complex temporal variations and extract features from one single time scale. To address the above issues, we propose FlightPatchNet, a multi-scale patch network with differential coding for flight trajectory prediction. Specifically, FlightPatchNet first utilizes differential coding to encode the original values of longitude and latitude into first-order differences and generates embeddings for all variables at each time step. Then, global temporal attention is introduced to explore the dependencies between different time steps. To fully explore the diverse temporal patterns in flight trajectories, a multi-scale patch network is delicately designed to serve as the backbone. The multi-scale patch network exploits stacked patch mixer blocks to capture inter- and intra-patch dependencies under different time scales, and further integrates multi-scale temporal features across different scales and variables. Finally, FlightPatchNet ensembles multiple predictors to make direct multi-step prediction. Extensive experiments on ADS-B datasets demonstrate that our model outperforms the competitive baselines.

Transmission With Machine Language Tokens: A Paradigm for Task-Oriented Agent Communication

The rapid advancement in large foundation models is propelling the paradigm shifts across various industries. One significant change is that agents, instead of traditional machines or humans, will be the primary participants in the future production process, which consequently requires a novel AI-native communication system tailored for agent communications. Integrating the ability of large language models (LLMs) with task-oriented semantic communication is a potential approach. However, the output of existing LLM is human language, which is highly constrained and sub-optimal for agent-type communication. In this paper, we innovatively propose a task-oriented agent communication system. Specifically, we leverage the original LLM to learn a specialized machine language represented by token embeddings. Simultaneously, a multi-modal LLM is trained to comprehend the application task and to extract essential implicit information from multi-modal inputs, subsequently expressing it using machine language tokens. This representation is significantly more efficient for transmission over the air interface. Furthermore, to reduce transmission overhead, we introduce a joint token and channel coding (JTCC) scheme that compresses the token sequence by exploiting its sparsity while enhancing robustness against channel noise. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach reduces transmission overhead for downstream tasks while enhancing accuracy relative to the SOTA methods.

Digital Twin Channel-Enabled Online Resource Allocation for 6G: Principle, Architecture and Application

Emerging applications such as holographic communication, autonomous driving, and the industrial Internet of Things impose stringent requirements on flexible, low-latency, and reliable resource allocation in 6G networks. Conventional methods, which rely on statistical modeling, have proven effective in general contexts but may fail to achieve optimal performance in specific and dynamic environments. Furthermore, acquiring real-time channel state information (CSI) typically requires excessive pilot overhead. To address these challenges, a digital twin channel (DTC)-enabled online optimization framework is proposed, in which DTC is employed to predict CSI based on environmental sensing. The predicted CSI is then utilized by lightweight game-theoretic algorithms to perform online resource allocation in a timely and efficient manner. Simulation results based on a digital replica of a realistic industrial workshop demonstrate that the proposed method achieves throughput improvements of up to 11.5\% compared with pilot-based ideal CSI schemes, validating its effectiveness for scalable, low-overhead, and environment-aware communication in future 6G networks.

Meta-Reinforcement Learning Optimization for Movable Antenna-aided Full-Duplex CF-DFRC Systems with Carrier Frequency Offset

By enabling spectrum sharing between radar and communication operations, the cell-free dual-functional radar-communication (CF-DFRC) system is a promising candidate to significantly improve spectrum efficiency in future sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks. However, in wideband scenarios, synchronization errors caused by carrier frequency offset (CFO) can severely reduce both communication capacity and sensing accuracy. To address this challenge, this paper integrates movable antennas (MAs) into the CF-DFRC framework, leveraging their spatial flexibility and adaptive beamforming to dynamically mitigate CFO-induced impairments. To fully exploit the advantages of MAs in wideband scenarios with CFO, we aim to maximize the worst-case sum-rate of communication and sensing by jointly optimizing MA positions, {beamforming}, and CFO parameters, subject to transmit power and MA positioning constraints. Due to the non-convex nature of the problem, we propose a robust meta reinforcement learning (MRL)-based two-stage alternating optimization strategy. In the first stage, we employ manifold optimization (MO) with penalty dual decomposition (PDD) to solve the CFO-robust worst-case subproblem. In the second stage, we adopt to jointly optimize {the MA positions and beamforming vectors} in a data-driven manner {for dynamic wireless environments}. Simulation results show that the proposed MRL approach significantly outperforms conventional deep reinforcement learning (DRL) schemes in both communication and sensing performance under CFO impairments. Furthermore, compared to fixed-position antennas (FPAs), the MA-aided CF-DFRC system exhibits

Distortion-Aware Hybrid Beamforming for Integrated Sensing and Communication

This paper investigates a practical partially-connected hybrid beamforming transmitter for integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) with distortion from nonlinear power amplification. For this ISAC system, we formulate a communication rate and sensing mutual information maximization problem driven by our distortion-aware hybrid beamforming design. To address this non-convex problem, we first solve for a fully digital beamforming matrix by alternatively solving three sub-problems using manifold optimization (MO) and our derived closed-form solutions. The analog and digital beamforming matrices are then obtained through a decomposition algorithm. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can improve overall ISAC performance compared to traditional beamforming methods.

Far-Field vs. Near-Field Propagation Channels: Key Differences and Impact on 6G XL-MIMO Performance Evaluation

Extremely large-scale multiple-input multiple-output (XL-MIMO) is regarded as a promising technology for next-generation communication systems. However, this will expand the near-field (NF) range, rendering more users more likely to be located in the NF region. In this paper, we aim to answer two questions: What are the new characteristics of the NF channel? Is it necessary to develop new transciver techniques to maintain system performance within the NF region? To this end, we first review current NF channel models and analyze the differences between the existing 3GPP TR 38.901 channel model and the NF channel model, including the spherical wavefront and spatially non-stationarity. Then, we provide examples on how these differences affect the XL-MIMO system performance in terms of beamforming gain and achievable rate. Simulation results demonstrate that, when using far-field (FF) technique under the NF channel, the maximum normalized beam gain loss is less than 3 dB for most users in the NF region defined by Rayleigh distance. Moreover, the achievable rate loss of beam training is less than 3% compared to that realized by NF technique. Finally, we demonstrate the necessity of employing NF transceiver techniques based on simulation results.

Near-Field Propagation and Spatial Non-Stationarity Channel Model for 6-24 GHz (FR3) Extremely Large-Scale MIMO: Adopted by 3GPP for 6G

Next generation cellular deployments are expected to exploit the 6-24 GHz frequency range 3 (FR3) and extremely large-scale multiple-input multiple-output (XL-MIMO) to enable ultra-high data rates and reliability. However, the significantly enlarged antenna apertures and higher carrier frequencies render the far-field and spatial stationarity assumptions in the existing 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) channel models invalid, giving rise to new features such as near-field propagation and spatial non-stationarity (SNS). Despite extensive prior research, incorporating these new features within the standardized channel modeling framework remains an open issue. To address this, this paper presents a channel modeling framework for XL-MIMO systems that incorporates both near-field and SNS features, adopted by 3GPP. For the near-field propagation feature, the framework models the distances from the base station (BS) and user equipment to the spherical-wave sources associated with clusters. These distances are used to characterize element-wise variations of path parameters, such as nonlinear changes in phase and angle. To capture the effect of SNS at the BS side, a stochastic-based approach is proposed to model SNS caused by incomplete scattering, by establishing power attenuation factors from visibility probability and visibility region to characterize antenna element-wise path power variation. In addition, a physical blocker-based approach is introduced to model SNS effects caused by partial blockage. Finally, a simulation framework for near-field and SNS is developed within the structure of the existing 3GPP channel model. Performance evaluations demonstrate that the near-field model captures higher channel capacity potential compared to the far-field model. Coupling loss results indicate that SNS leads to more pronounced propagation fading relative to the spatial stationary model.

Theoretical Analysis of Near-Field MIMO Channel Capacity and Mid-Band Experimental Validation

With the increase of multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) array size and carrier frequency, near-field MIMO communications will become crucial in 6G wireless networks. Due to the increase of MIMO near-field range, the research of near-field MIMO capacity has aroused wide interest. In this paper, we focus on the theoretical analysis and empirical study of near-field MIMO capacity. First, the near-field channel model is characterized from the electromagnetic information perspective. Second, with the uniform planar array (UPA), the channel capacity based on effective degree of freedom (EDoF) is analyzed theoretically, and the closed-form analytical expressions are derived in detail. Finally, based on the numerical verification of near-field channel measurement experiment at 13 GHz band, we reveal that the channel capacity of UPA-type MIMO systems decreases continuously with the communication distance increasing. It can be observed that the near-field channel capacity gain is relatively obvious when large-scale MIMO is adopted at both receiving and transmitter ends, but the near-field channel capacity gain may be limited in the actual communication system with the small antenna array at receiving end. This work will give some reference to the near-field communication systems.
