The Friedrichs Model and its use in resonance phenomena

We present here a relation of different types of Friedrichs models and their use in the description and comprehension of resonance phenomena. We first discuss the basic Friedrichs model and obtain its resonance in the case that this is simple or doubly degenerated. Next, we discuss the model with $N$ levels and show how the probability amplitude has an oscillatory behavior. Two generalizations of the Friedrichs model are suitable to introduce resonance behavior in quantum field theory. We also discuss a discrete version of the Friedrichs model and also a resonant interaction between two systems both with continuous spectrum. In an Appendix, we review the mathematics of rigged Hilbert spaces.

Spectrum Generating Algebras for the free motion in $S^3$

We construct the spectrum generating algebra (SGA) for a free particle in the three dimensional sphere $S^3$ for both, classical and quantum descriptions. In the classical approach, the SGA supplies time-dependent constants of motion that allow to solve algebraically the motion. In the quantum case, the SGA include the ladder operators that give the eigenstates of the free Hamiltonian. We study this quantum case from two equivalent points of view.

On the Various Aspects of Hamiltonian Description of the Mechanics of Continuous Media

We consider a general approach to the theory of continuous media starting from Lagrangian formalism. This formalism which uses the trajectories if constituents of media is very convenient for taking into account different types of interaction between particles typical for different media. Building the Hamiltonian formalism we discuss some issues which is not very well known, such as relation of famous Thompson theorem with the symmetry with respect to volume preserving diffeomorphisms. We also discuss the relation between Euler and Lagrange description and present similar to Euler $C^2$ formulation of continuous mechanics. In these general frameworks we consider as examples the theory of plasma and gravitating gas.

Quantum superintegrable system for arbitrary spin

In [1] was considered the superintegrable system which describes the magnetic dipole with spin 1/2 (neutron) in the field of linear current. Here we present its generalization for any spin which preserves superintegrability. The dynamical symmetry stays the same as it is for spin 1/2.

Flat rotational curves without dark matter

We consider the singular configurations of gravitating gas [1] which could be used as a model for disk galaxies. The simplest steady configuration, which corresponds to rotation of stars around center gives flat rotational curve, provided the density distrubution has a tail, decaying as 1/r. This result based exclusively on Newtonian gravity and does not involve dark matter.

C^{2} formulation of Euler fluid

The Hamiltonian formalism for the continuous media is constructed using the representation of Euler variables in $\mathcal{C}^{2}\times \infty$ phase space.

Soliton in Gravitating Gas. Hoag's Object

We explore the possibility of creating of solitons in gravitating gas. It is shown that the virial arguments does not put an obstacle for the existence of localized static solutions. The simplest toroidal soliton of gravitating gas could be the explanation of the peculiar galaxy named Hoag's object.

Zeno era and non-decaying subspaces for multilevel Friedrichs model

We study the short-time and medium-time behavior of the survival probability of decaying states in the framework of the $N$-level Friedrichs model. The degenerated and nearly degenerated systems are discussed in detail. We show that in these systems decay can be considerably slowed down or even stopped by appropriate choice of initial conditions. We analyze the behaviour of the multilevel system within the so-called Zeno era. We examine and compare two different definitions of the Zeno time. We demonstrate that the Zeno era can be considerably enlarged by proper choice of the system parameters.

Oscillating decay of an unstable system

We study the short-time and medium-time behavior of the survival probability in the frame of the $N$-level Friedrichs model. The time evolution of an arbitrary unstable initial state is determined. We show that the survival probability may oscillate significantly during the so-called exponential era. This result explains qualitatively the experimental observations of the NaI decay.

Quantum Zeno and anti-Zeno effects in the Friedrichs model

We analyze the short-time behavior of the survival probability in the frame of the Friedrichs model for different formfactors. We have shown that this probability is not necessary analytic at the time origin. The time when the quantum Zeno effect could be observed is found to be much smaller than usually estimated. We have also studied the anti-Zeno era and have estimated its duration.

Relativistic Toda chain

Investigated is the relativistic periodic Toda chain, to each site of which the ultra-local Weyl algebra is associated. Weyl's $q$ we are considering here is restricted to be inside the unit circle. Quantum Lax operators of the model are intertwined by six vertex $R$-matrix. Both independent Baxter's $Q$-operators are constructed explicitly as seria over local Weyl generators. The operator-valued wronskian of $Q$-s is also calculated.

Causality, delocalization and positivity of energy

In a series of interesting papers G. C. Hegerfeldt has shown that quantum systems with positive energy initially localized in a finite region, immediately develop infinite tails. In our paper Hegerfeldt's theorem is analysed using quantum and classical wave packets. We show that Hegerfeldt's conclusion remains valid in classical physics. No violation of Einstein's causality is ever involved. Using only positive frequencies, complex wave packets are constructed which at $t = 0$ are real and finitely localized and which, furthemore, are superpositions of two nonlocal wave packets. The nonlocality is initially cancelled by destructive interference. However this cancellation becomes incomplete at arbitrary times immediately afterwards. In agreement with relativity the two nonlocal wave packets move with the velocity of light, in opposite directions.
