Density-driven reversal of flavour-entanglement anisotropy in the D3-D7 holographic conductor

We study the leading probe-flavour contribution to equal-time spatial entanglement entropy in a homogeneous 3+1-dimensional strongly coupled conductor at finite temperature and charge density, realised holographically by the D3-D7 system and driven by a constant DC electric field. We compare slab-shaped subregions that are extended in two spatial directions and have finite width parallel or transverse to the field. The difference between the corresponding entropy corrections isolates a homogeneous, spatially traceless response and exhibits a density-driven sign reversal. Over the investigated parameter range, the crossover density increases with the electric-field magnitude and decreases with the strip width. Mutual information shows the same qualitative reversal and provides an ultraviolet-finite check. We trace the effect to a radial sign competition in the full Dirac-Born-Infeld stress anisotropy. The reversal is a smooth response crossover rather than a thermodynamic phase transition.

Testing bare open-string-metric areas against flavour entanglement in finite-density D3-D7

We test whether bare codimension-two areas in the D7-brane open string metric (OSM) reproduce the leading probe-brane contribution to boundary entanglement entropy in the massless finite-density D3-D7 system at zero temperature. The established Chang-Karch-Uhlemann benchmark contains shape-dependent volume terms in a controlled probe regime. By contrast, the connected strip family terminates at a maximal width and the selected strip finite part saturates at the disconnected-reference value, while the lower-area spherical branch is area-like rather than volume-like at large radius. The OSM construction nevertheless detects the density-induced crossover scale, and its geometric landmarks occur at order-one multiples of a pole-defined longitudinal response length. A low-temperature regulator shows that no density-controlled horizon-volume term survives the zero-temperature limit. Bare OSM areas therefore diagnose open-sector crossover physics but do not, in general, compute flavour entanglement entropy.

Proper effective temperature and order parameters in relativistic non-equilibrium steady states

We examine the concept of temperature in non-equilibrium steady states. Using the D3-D5 model of gauge/gravity duality, we investigate spontaneous symmetry breaking in a relativistic (2+1)-dimensional defect moving at constant velocity within a (3+1)-dimensional heat bath. We find that the dependence of the order parameter on both the heat bath temperature and the defect velocity can be captured by a single variable -- the proper effective temperature -- for the moving defect. Our results suggest that the proper effective temperature is an essential parameter for a class of relativistic non-equilibrium steady states.
