Coding Agents Have Converged: Why the SWE-bench Leaderboard Can No Longer Order Its Top Entries, and What to Measure Instead

Small differences on coding-agent leaderboards are often read as an ordering of systems. We audit whether the published verdicts support this reading, using 254 SWE-bench submissions across four splits without running models. On Verified, the leading two entries each resolve 396 of 500 instances. The top ten share 285 successes and 51 failures, leaving 164 instances that distinguish their outcomes. Frontier solution sets have median nesting 0.935 against a score-implied baseline of 0.774, indicating strongly shared successes. Scores also depend on the evaluated model-scaffold pair: observed within-model scaffold ranges reach 29.8 percentage points, compared with the 8.8-point spread of the top thirty. Six of nine cell-mean interaction tests remain significant after Holm correction, although this observational design does not identify causal scaffold effects. Exact paired McNemar tests separate none of the 29 adjacent Verified top-thirty pairs at alpha=0.05, while the larger Test split separates 14 of 23. A stated leader-based rule yields three descriptive tiers, or two after Holm correction; non-rejection does not establish equivalence. We release the partition and a five-step audit protocol that profiles shared outcomes, tests paired differences, reports grouping sensitivity, and estimates the instance budget needed for resolution. The results motivate reporting comparison-set-specific resolution and model-scaffold provenance instead of interpreting small aggregate gaps as established rank differences.

MSCoD: An Enhanced Bayesian Updating Framework with Multi-Scale Information Bottleneck and Cooperative Attention for Structure-Based Drug Design

Structure-Based Drug Design (SBDD) is a powerful strategy in computational drug discovery, utilizing three-dimensional protein structures to guide the design of molecules with improved binding affinity. However, capturing complex protein-ligand interactions across multiple scales remains challenging, as current methods often overlook the hierarchical organization and intrinsic asymmetry of these interactions. To address these limitations, we propose MSCoD, a novel Bayesian updating-based generative framework for structure-based drug design. In our MSCoD, Multi-Scale Information Bottleneck (MSIB) was developed, which enables semantic compression at multiple abstraction levels for efficient hierarchical feature extraction. Furthermore, a multi-head cooperative attention (MHCA) mechanism was developed, which employs asymmetric protein-to-ligand attention to capture diverse interaction types while addressing the dimensionality disparity between proteins and ligands. Empirical studies showed that MSCoD outperforms state-of-the-art methods on the benchmark dataset. Its real-world applicability is confirmed by case studies on difficult targets like KRAS G12D (7XKJ). Additionally, the MSIB and MHCA modules prove transferable, boosting the performance of GraphDTA on standard drug target affinity prediction benchmarks (Davis and Kiba). Superconducting diode effect under time reversal symmetry

In noncentrosymmetric superconductors, superconducting and normal conductions can interchange based on the current flow direction. This effect is termed a superconducting diode effect (SDE), which is a focal point of recent research. The broken inversion and time reversal symmetry is believed to be the requirements of SDE but their intrinsic role has remained elusive. Here, we report strain-controlled SDEs in a layered trigonal superconductor, PbTaSe2. The SDE was found exclusively in a strained device with its absence in an unstrained device, despite that it is allowed in unstrained trigonal structure. Moreover, the zero-field or magnetic field-even (magnetic field-odd) SDE is observed when the strain and current are along armchair (zigzag) direction The results unambiguously demonstrate the intrinsic SDE under time-reversal symmetry and the critical role of strain-induced electric polarization.
