A dynamic residual measure of inaccuracy based on varextropy

In this paper, we introduce a variance-based inaccuracy measure for order statistics based on the concept of varextropy. The proposed measure provides a framework for quantifying the variability of the inaccuracy function between an order statistic and its parent distribution. We establish a transformation property of the proposed measure under strictly increasing differentiable transformations. We establish theoretical upper and lower bounds for this measure. We further develop a dynamic residual version of the proposed inaccuracy measure and establish characterization results for the underlying distribution. Furthermore, we derive bounds for the dynamic residual inaccuracy measures based on extropy and varextropy. Finally, a nonparametric estimator of the proposed measure is developed and applied to real data to assess the goodness-of-fit of candidate distributions and facilitate model selection. 1.

Measures of inaccuracy based on Varextropy

Recently, varextropy has been introduced as a new dispersion index and a measure of information. In this article, we derive the generating function of extropy and present its infinite series representation. Furthermore, we propose new variability measures: the inaccuracy and weighted inaccuracy measures between two random variables based on varextropy and we investigate their properties. We also obtain lower bounds for the inaccuracy measure and compare them with each other. In addition, we introduce a discrimination measure based on varextropy and employ it both for comparing probability distributions and for assessing the goodness of fit of distributions to data model selection problems. The proposed measure is also compared with the dispersion index derived from the Kullback-Leibler divergence given in Balakrishnan et al. (2024).

Some results about varextropy and weighted varextropy functions

In this paper, we investigate several properties of the weighted varextropy measure and obtain it for specific distribution functions, such as the equilibrium and weighted distributions. We also obtain bounds for the weighted varextropy, as well as for weighted residual varextropy and weighted past varextropy. Additionally, we derive an expression for the varextropy of the lifetime of coherent systems. A new stochastic ordering, referred to as weighted varextopy orderind, is introduced, and some of its key properties are explored. Furtheremore, we propose two nonparametric estimators for the weighted varextropy function. A simulation study is conducted to evaluate the performance of these estimators in terms of mean squared error(MSE) and bias. Finally, we provide a characterization of the reciprocal distribution based on the weighted varextropy measure. Some tests for reciprocal distribution are constructed by using the proposed estimators and the powers of the tests are compared with the powers of Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS) test. application to real data is also reported.

Varextropy of doubly truncated random variable

Recently, there has been growing attention to study uncertainty measures for doubly truncated random variables. In this paper, the concept of varextropy for doubly truncated random variables is introduced. The changes of this measure under linear transforms are investigated. Also, lower and upper bounds for the interval varextropy under some conditions are obtained and some other properties for this measure are proved. In the following, three estimators for the interval varextropy are proposed. A simulation study has been carried out to investigate the behavior of estimators. At the end, an application for these estimators is proposed.
