The $L^p$ Neumann problem for the Stokes system in nonsmooth domains

We study the $L^p$ Neumann problem for the Stokes system on bounded Lipschitz domains in $\mathbb R^n$ with $n\ge 2$. Our main contribution is to introduce a nonlinear gradient quantity -- namely, the linear gradient weighted by a suitable power of the pair $(\nabla u,\phi)$ -- in place of the standard linear gradient used in previous work by Geng and Shen (2025). This new approach allows us to establish a global second-order estimate, which in turn yields an improved reverse H\"older inequality and extends the known range of solvability for convex domains, particularly improving the upper bound for $n\ge 3$. Beyond the convex setting, our method also applies to semi-convex domains. Moreover, for more general Lipschitz domains, we prove solvability under a smallness condition on the second fundamental form of the boundary, assuming the boundary has second-order derivatives in the weak-type Lorentz spaces $W^2L^{n-1,\infty}$ for $n\ge 3$, or $W^2L^{1,\infty}\log L$ for $n=2$. In particular, our results cover all $W^{2,q}$ domains with $q>n-1$.

Maximal Sobolev regularity of the stress tensor for the symmetric gradient p-Laplace system

The symmetric $p$-Laplace operator enters various models in mathematical physics, such as incompressible materials with power-type hardening and non-Newtonian fluids. In this work, second-order differentiability properties of solutions to the symmetric $p$-Laplace system are established. They are formulated as maximal Sobolev regularity of the nonlinear stress tensor for locally square integrable right-hand sides.

Regularity of stable radial solutions to semilinear elliptic equations in MEMS problems

This paper investigates the regularity of stable radial solutions to semilinear elliptic equations arising in MEMS problems, modeled by the Dirichlet problem $-\Delta u=f(u)$ in the unit ball $B_1$, where the nonlinearity $f\in C^1([0,1))$ is nonnegative and satisfies $\int^1_0f(s)\,ds=+\infty$. We focus on the case where $f$ blows up as $u\to 1^{-}$. Micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) are widely used devices in engineering and technology. Our main result establishes for dimensions $2\le n\le 6$, every stable radial solution is regular, meaning $\|u\|_{L^{\infty}(B_1)}<1$. This result gives a positive answer to an open problem posed by Bruera and Cabr\'e concerning the regularity of stable solutions for singular nonlinearities without requiring a Crandall-Rabinowitz type condition, at least in the radial case.

A nonlinear Calder\'on-Zygmund $ L^2$-theory for the Dirichlet problem involving $ -|Du|^{\gamma}\Delta^N_p u=f$

We establish a nonlinear Calder\'on-Zygmund $L^2$-theory to the Dirichlet problem $$-|Du|^{\gamma}\Delta^N_p u=f\in L^2(\Omega)\quad {\rm in}\quad \Omega; \quad u=0 \ \mbox{on $\partial\Omega$} $$ for $n\ge2$, $ p>1$ and a large range of $\gamma>-1$, in particular, for all $p>1$ and all $ \gamma>-1$ when $n=2$. Here $\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ is a bounded convex domain, or a bounded Lipschitz domain whose boundary has small weak second fundamental form in the sense of Cianchi-Maz'ya (2018). The proof relies on an extension of an Miranda-Talenti \& Cianchi-Maz'ya type inequality, that is, for any $v\in C^\infty_0(\Omega)$ in any bounded smooth domain $\Omega$, $\|D[(|Dv|^2+\epsilon)^{\frac\gamma 2}Dv]\|_{L^2(\Omega)}$ is bounded via $\|(|Dv|^2+\epsilon)^{\frac\gamma 2} \Delta^N_{p,\epsilon}v \|_{L^2(\Omega)}$, where $\Delta^N_{p,\epsilon}v$ is the $\epsilon$-regularization of normalized $p$-Laplacian. Our results extend the well-known Calder\'on-Zygmund $L^2$-estimate for the Poisson equation, a nonlinear global second order Sobolev estimate for inhomogeneous $p$-Laplace equation by Cianchi-Maz'ya (2018), and a local $W^{2,2}$-estimate for inhomogeneous normalized $p$-Laplace equation by Attouchi-Ruosteenoja (2018).

Regularity from $p$-harmonic potentials to $\infty$-harmonic potentials in convex rings

The exploration of shape metamorphism, surface reconstruction, and image interpolation raises fundamental inquiries concerning the $C^1$ and higher-order regularity of $\infty$-harmonic potentials -- a specialized category of $\infty$-harmonic functions. Additionally, it prompts questions regarding their corresponding approximations using $p$-harmonic potentials. It is worth noting that establishing $C^1$ and higher-order regularity for $\infty$-harmonic functions remains a central concern within the realm of $\infty$-Laplace equations and $L^\infty$-variational problems. In this study, we investigate the regularity properties from $p$-harmonic potentials to $\infty$-harmonic potentials within arbitrary convex ring domains $\Omega=\Omega_0\backslash \overline \Omega_1$ in $\mathbb R^n$. Here $\Omega_0$ is a bounded convex domain in $\mathbb R^n$ and $\overline\Omega_1\subset \Omega_0$ is a compact convex set. We prove the interior $C^1$ and some Sobolev regularity for $\infty$-harmonic potentials.

The boundedness of stable solutions to semilinear elliptic equations with linear lower bound on nonlinearities

Let $2\le n\le9$. Suppose that $f:R\to R$ is locally Lipschitz function satisfying $f(t)\ge A\min\{0,t\}-K$ for all $t\in R$ with some constant $A\ge0$ and $K\ge 0$. We establish an a priori interior H\"older regularity of $C^2$-stable solution to the semilinear elliptic equation $-\Delta u=f(u)$. If, in addition, $f$ is nondecreasing and convex, we obtain the interior H\"older regularity of $W^{1,2}$-stable solutions. Note that the dimension $n\le9$ is optimal.

Jacobian determinants for (nonlinear) gradient of planar $\infty$-harmonic functions and applications

In dimension 2, we introduce a distributional Jacobian determinant $\det DV_\beta(Dv)$ for the nonlinear complex gradient $(x_1,x_2)\mapsto |Dv|^\beta(v_{x_1},-v_{x_2})$ for any $\beta>-1$, whenever $v\in W^{1,2 }_{\text{loc}}$ and $\beta |Dv|^{1+\beta}\in W^{1,2}_{\text{loc}}$. Then for any planar $\infty$-harmonic function $u$, we show that such distributional Jacobian determinant is a nonnegative Radon measure with some quantitative local lower and upper bounds. We also give the following two applications. (i) Applying this result with $\beta=0$, we develop an approach to build up a Liouville theorem, which improves that of Savin [33]. Precisely, if $u$ is $\infty$-harmonic functions in whole ${\mathbb R}^2$ with $$ \liminf_{R\to\infty}\inf_{c\in\mathbb R}\frac1 {R^3}\int_{B(0,R)}|u(x)-c|\,dx<\infty,$$ then $u=b+a\cdot x$ for some $b\in{\mathbb R}$ and $a\in{\mathbb R}^2$. (ii) Denoting by $u_p$ the $p$-harmonic function having the same nonconstant boundary condition as $u$, we show that $\det DV_\beta(Du_p) \to \det DV_\beta(Du)$ as $p\to\infty$ in the weak-$\star$ sense in the space of Radon measure. Recall that $V_\beta(Du_p)$ is always quasiregular mappings, but $V_\beta(Du)$ is not in general.

A global second order Sobolev regularity for $p$-Laplacian type equations with variable coefficients in bounded domains

Let $\Omega\subset R^n$ be a bounded convex domain with $n\ge2$. Suppose that $A$ is uniformly elliptic and belongs to $W^{1,n}$ when $n\ge 3$ or $W^{1,q}$ for some $q>2$ when $n=2$. For $1<p<\infty$, we build up a global second order regularity estimate $$\|D[|Du|^{p-2} Du]\|_{L^2(\Omega)}+\|D[ |\sqrt{A}Du|^{p-2} A Du]\|_{L^2(\Omega)} \le C \|f\|_{L^2(\Omega)} $$ for inhomogeneous $p$-Laplace type equation \begin{equation} -\mathrm{div}\big(\langle A Du,Du\rangle ^{\frac{p-2}2} A Du\big)=f \quad\rm{in }\ \Omega \mbox{ with Dirichlet/Neumann $0$-boundary.} \end{equation} Similar result was also built up for certain bounded Lipschitz domain whose boundary is weakly second order differentiable and satisfies some smallness assumptions.

Interior H\"older regularity for stable solutions to semilinear elliptic equations up to dimension 5

Let $2\le n\le 5$. We establish an apriori interior H\"older regularity of $C^2$-stable solutions to the semilinear equation $-\Delta u=f(u)$ in any domain of $R^n$ for any nonlinearity $f\in C^{0,1}(R) $.If $f $ is nondecreasing and convex in addition,we obtain an interior H\"older regularity, and hence the local boundedness, of $W^{1,2}(\Omega)$-stable solutions by locally approximating them via $C^2(\Omega)$-stable solutions. In particular, we do not require any lower bound on $f$.

Optimal regularity & Liouville property for stable solutions to semilinear elliptic equations in $\mathbb R^n$ with $n\ge10$

Let $ 0\le f\in C^{0,1}(\mathbb R^n)$. Given a domain $\Omega\subset \mathbb R^n$, we prove that any stable solution to the equation $-\Delta u=f(u)$ in $\Omega$ satisfies a BMO interior regularity when $n=10$, and an Morrey $M^{p_n,4+2/(p_n-2)}$ interior regularity when $n\ge 11$, where $$p_n=\frac{2(n-2\sqrt{n-1}-2)}{n-2\sqrt{n-1}-4}. $$ This result is optimal as hinted by earlier results, and answers an open question raised by Cabr\'e, Figalli, Ros-Oton and Serra. As an application, we show a sharp Liouville property: Any stable solution $u \in C^2(\mathbb R^n)$ to $-\Delta u=f(u)$ in $\mathbb R^n$ satisfying the growth condition, i.e.\ $|u(x)|= o\left( \log|x| \right)$ as $|x|\to+\infty$ when $n=10$; or $|u(x)|= o\left( |x| ^{ -\frac n2+\sqrt{n-1}+2 }\right)$ as $x|\to+\infty$ when $n\ge 11$, must be a constant. This extends the well-known Liouville property for radial stable solutions obtained by Villegas.
