Fractional resonances and prethermal states in Floquet systems

In periodically-driven quantum systems, resonances can induce exotic nonequilibrium behavior and new phases of matter without static analog. We report on the emergence of fractional and integer resonances in a broad class of many-body Hamiltonians with a modulated hopping with a frequency that is either a fraction or an integer of the on-site interaction. We contend that there is a fundamental difference between these resonances when interactions bring the system to a Floquet prethermal state. Second-order processes dominate the dynamics in the fractional resonance case, leading to less entanglement and more localized quantum states than in the integer resonance case dominated by first-order processes. We demonstrate the dominating emergence of fractional resonances using the Magnus expansion of the effective Hamiltonian and quantify their effects on the many-body dynamics via quantum states' von Neumann entropy and Loschmidt echo. Our findings reveal novel features of the nonequilibrium quantum many-body system, such as the coexistence of Floquet prethermalization and localization, that may allow to development of quantum memories for quantum technologies and quantum information processing.

On reducible non-Weierstrass semigroups

Weierstrass semigroups are well-known along the literature. We present a new family of non-Weierstrass semigroups which can be written as an intersection of Weierstrass semigroups. In addition, we provide methods for calculating non-Weierstrass semigroups with genus as large as desired.

Spin Triplet Pairing for Superconductivity

A generalization of the Cooper pairing mechanism is proposed which allows for a triplet state of lower energy. This is achieved by incorporating spin into the canonical commutation relations and by modifying the $δ$ potential contact interaction. The gap equation contain as solutions both singlet and triplet states. It is shown that the triplet state is lower in energy than the singlet state which may explain the spin-triplet superconductivity observed in heavy fermion compound UPt3 and in Sr$_2$RuO$_4$.

Near orders and codes

Hoholdt, van Lint and Pellikaan used order functions to construct codes by means of Linear Algebra and Semigroup Theory only. However, Geometric Goppa codes that can be represented by this method are mainly those based on just one point. In this paper we introduce the concept of near order function with the aim of generalize this approach in such a way that a of wider family of Geometric Goppa codes can be studied on a more elementary setting.

Experimental evidence of the dependence of spin tunnelling on the concentration of dislocations in Mn12 crystals

We present experimental results on resonant spin tunnelling in a single crystal of Mn$_{12}$-2Cl benzoate with different concentration of dislocations. The time evolution of the magnetisation follows the stretched exponential over a few time decades. The values of parameters of stretched exponential deduced from experiment have been used to determine the concentration of dislocations before and after the cooling-annealing process, using the algorithm recently suggested by Garanin and Chudnovsky.

Crystal defects and spin tunneling in single crystals of Mn12 clusters

The question addressed in this paper is that of the influence of the density of dislocations on the spin tunneling in Mn12 clusters. We have determined the variation in the mosaicity of the crystal structure of fresh and thermally treated single crystals of Mn12 by analyzing the widening of low angle X-ray diffraction peaks. It has also been well established from both isothermal magnetization and relaxation experiments that there is a broad distribution of tunneling rates which is shifted to higher rates when increases the density of dislocations.

Giant and time-dependent magnetocaloric effect in high-spin molecular magnets

We have measured and calculated the magnetocaloric effect in macroscopic samples of oriented high-spin molecular clusters like Mn12 and Fe8 as a function of the temperature and both the intensity and the sweeping rate of the applied magnetic field. We have observed a high magnetic entropy variation around the blocking temperature of the magnetic moment of molecules and calculated the shift of the entropy variation and cooling temperature, with the sweeping rate of the magnetic field.

On complete arcs arising from plane curves

We show that the set of F_q-rational points of either certain Fermat curves or certain F_q-Frobenius non-classical plane curves is a complete (k,d)-arc in P^2(F_q), where k and d are respectively the number of F_q-rational points and the degree of the underlying curve.

On curves covered by the Hermitian curve, II

We classify, up to isomorphism, maximal curves covered by the Hermitian curve \mathcal H by a prime degree Galois covering. We also compute the genus of maximal curves obtained by the quotient of \mathcal H by several automorphisms groups. Finally we discuss the value for the third largest genus that a maximal curve can have.

On curves covered by the Hermitian curve

For each proper divisor d of (r^2-r+1), r being a power of a prime, maximal curves over a finite field with r^2 elements covered by the Hermitian curve of genus 1/2((r^2-r+1)/d-1) are constructed.

On plane maximal curves

The genus of a maximal curve over a finite field with r^2 elements is either g_0=r(r-1)/2 or less than or equal to g_1=(r-1)^2/4. Maximal curves with genus g_0 or g_1 have been characterized up to isomorphism. A natural genus to be studied is g_2=(r-1)(r-3)/8, and for this genus there are two non-isomorphism maximal curves known when r \equiv 3 (mod 4). Here, a maximal curve with genus g_2 and a non-singular plane model is characterized as a Fermat curve of degree (r+1)/2.
