Observables in the equivariant A-model

We discuss observables of an equivariant extension of the A-model in the framework of the AKSZ construction. We introduce the A-model observables, a class of observables that are homotopically equivalent to the canonical AKSZ observables but are better behaved in the gauge fixing. We discuss them for two different choices of gauge fixing: the first one is conjectured to compute the correlators of the A-model with target the Marsden-Weinstein reduced space; in the second one we recover the topological Yang-Mills action coupled with A-model so that the A-model observables are closed under supersymmetry.

Quantization of Poisson manifolds from the integrability of the modular function

We discuss a framework for quantizing a Poisson manifold via the quantization of its symplectic groupoid, that combines the tools of geometric quantization with the results of Renault's theory of groupoid C*-algebras. This setting allows very singular polarizations. In particular we consider the case when the modular function is "multiplicatively integrable", i.e. when the space of leaves of the polarization inherits a groupoid structure. If suitable regularity conditions are satisfied, then one can define the quantum algebra as the convolution algebra of the subgroupoid of leaves satisfying the Bohr-Sommerfeld conditions. We apply this procedure to the case of a family of Poisson structures on CP_n, seen as Poisson homogeneous spaces of the standard Poisson-Lie group SU(n+1). We show that a bihamiltoniam system on CP_n defines a multiplicative integrable model on the symplectic groupoid; we compute the Bohr-Sommerfeld groupoid and show that it satisfies the needed properties for applying Renault theory. We recover and extend Sheu's description of quantum homogeneous spaces as groupoid C*-algebras.

The quantization of the symplectic groupoid of the standard Podles sphere

We give an explicit form of the symplectic groupoid that integrates the semiclassical standard Podles sphere. We show that Sheu's groupoid, whose convolution C*-algebra quantizes the sphere, appears as the groupoid of the Bohr-Sommerfeld leaves of a (singular) real polarization of the symplectic groupoid. By using a complex polarization we recover the convolution algebra on the space of polarized sections. We stress the role of the modular class in the definition of the scalar product in order to get the correct quantum space.

On the integration of Poisson homogeneous spaces

We study a reduction procedure for describing the symplectic groupoid of a Poisson homogeneous space obtained by quotient of a coisotropic subgroup. We perform it as a reduction of the Lu-Weinstein symplectic groupoid integrating Poisson Lie groups, that is suitable even for the non complete case.

Quantum even spheres Sigma_q^2n from Poisson double suspension

We define even dimensional quantum spheres Sigma_q^2n that generalize to higher dimension the standard quantum two-sphere of Podle's and the four-sphere Sigma_q^4 obtained in the quantization of the Hopf bundle. The construction relies on an iterated Poisson double suspension of the standard Podle's two-sphere. The Poisson spheres that we get have the same symplectic foliation consisting of a degenerate point and a symplectic plane and, after quantization, have the same C^*-algebraic completion. We investigate their K-homology and K-theory by introducing Fredholm modules and projectors.

Controlling strong scarring for quantized ergodic toral automorphisms

We show that in the semi-classical limit the eigenfunctions of quantized ergodic symplectic toral automorphisms can not concentrate in measure on a finite number of closed orbits of the dynamics. More generally, we show that, if the pure point component of the limit measure has support on a finite number of such orbits, then the mass of this component must be smaller than two thirds of the total mass. The proofs use only the algebraic (i.e. not the number theoretic) properties of the toral automorphisms together with the exponential instability of the dynamics and therefore work in all dimensions.

Noncommutative Instantons on the 4-Sphere from Quantum Groups

We describe an approach to the noncommutative instantons on the 4-sphere based on quantum group theory. We quantize the Hopf bundle S^7 --> S^4 making use of the concept of quantum coisotropic subgroups. The analysis of the semiclassical Poisson--Lie structure of U(4) shows that the diagonal SU(2) must be conjugated to be properly quantized. The quantum coisotropic subgroup we obtain is the standard SU_q(2); it determines a new deformation of the 4-sphere Sigma^4_q as the algebra of coinvariants in S_q^7. We show that the quantum vector bundle associated to the fundamental corepresentation of SU_q(2) is finitely generated and projective and we compute the explicit projector. We give the unitary representations of Sigma^4_q, we define two 0-summable Fredholm modules and we compute the Chern-Connes pairing between the projector and their characters. It comes out that even the zero class in cyclic homology is non trivial.

Exponential mixing and log h time scales in quantized hyperbolic maps on the torus

We study the behaviour, in the simultaneous limits \hbar going to 0, t going to \infty, of the Husimi and Wigner distributions of initial coherent states and position eigenstates, evolved under the quantized hyperbolic toral automorphisms and the quantized baker map. We show how the exponential mixing of the underlying dynamics manifests itself in those quantities on time scales logarithmic in \hbar. The phase space distributions of the coherent states, evolved under either of those dynamics, are shown to equidistribute on the torus in the limit \hbar going to 0, for times t between |\log\hbar|/(2γ) and |\log|\hbar|/γ, where γis the Lyapounov exponent of the classical system. For times shorter than |\log\hbar|/(2γ), they remain concentrated on the classical trajectory of the center of the coherent state. The behaviour of the phase space distributions of evolved position eigenstates, on the other hand, is not the same for the quantized automorphisms as for the baker map. In the first case, they equidistribute provided t goes to \infty as \hbar goes to 0, and as long as t is shorter than |\log\hbar|/γ. In the second case, they remain localized on the evolved initial position at all such times.

The coisotropic subgroup structure of SL_q(2,R)

We study the coisotropic subgroup structure of standard SL_q(2,R) and the corresponding embeddable quantum homogeneous spaces. While the subgroups S^1 and R_+ survive undeformed in the quantization as coalgebras, we show that R is deformed to a family of quantum coisotropic subgroups whose coalgebra can not be extended to an Hopf algebra. We explicitly describe the quantum homogeneous spaces and their double cosets.

Unitarity of induced representations from coisotropic quantum groups

We study unitarity of the induced representations from coisotropic quantum subgroups which were introduced in math.QA/9804138. We define a real structure on coisotropic subgroups which determines an involution on the homogeneous space. We give general invariance properties for functionals on the homogeneous space which are sufficient to build a unitary representation starting from the induced one. We present the case of the one-dimensional quantum Galilei group, where we have to use in all enerality our definition of quasi-invariant functional.

Induced representations of the one dimensional quantum Galilei group

We study the representations of the quantum Galilei group by a suitable generalization of the Kirillov method on spaces of non commutative functions. On these spaces we determine a quasi-invariant measure with respect to the action of the quantum group by which we discuss unitary and irreducible representations. The latter are equivalent to representations on \ell^2, i.e. on the space of square summable functions on a one dimensional lattice.

Cohomological Properties of Differential Calculi on Hopf Algebras

In this report we give an intrinsic treatment of the results we developed in a previous work connecting the differential calculi on Hopf algebras to the Drinfeld double. In the first place we recover that bicovariant bimodules are in one to one correspondence with the Drinfeld double representations; we then introduce a Hochschild cohomology of the algebra of functions and discuss the main result stating that each differential calculus is associated to a 1-cocycle satisfying an additional invariance condition with respect to a natural action. Defining a Hochschild cohomology of the double, the above invariance becomes a condition with respect to the enveloping algebra component of the double that must be added to the 1-cocycle relation.

A new class of deformed special functions from quantum homogeneous spaces

We study the most elementary aspects of harmonic analysis on a homogeneous space of a deformation of the two-dimensional Euclidean group, admitting generalizations to dimensions three and four, whose quantum parameter has the physical dimensions of a length. The homogeneous space is recognized as a new quantum plane and the action of the Euclidean quantum group is used to determine an eigenvalue problem for the Casimir operator, that constitutes the analogue of the Schroedinger equation in the presence of such deformation. The solutions are given in the plane wave and in the angular momentum bases and are expressed in terms of hypergeometric series with non commuting parameters

Quantum Double and Differential Calculi

We show that bicovariant bimodules as defined by Woronowicz are in one to one correspondence with the Drinfeld quantum double representations. We then prove that a differential calculus associated to a bicovariant bimodule of dimension n is connected to the existence of a particular (n+1)--dimensional representation of the double. An example of bicovariant differential calculus on the non quasitriangular quantum group E_q(2) is developed. The construction is studied in terms of Hochschild cohomology and a correspondence between differential calculi and 1-cocycles is proved. Some differences of calculi on quantum and finite groups with respect to Lie groups are stressed.

Free q-Schrodinger Equation from Homogeneous Spaces of the 2-dim Euclidean Quantum Group

After a preliminary review of the definition and the general properties of the homogeneous spaces of quantum groups, the quantum hyperboloid qH and the quantum plane qP are determined as homogeneous spaces of Fq(E(2)). The canonical action of Eq(2) is used to define a natural q-analog of the free Schro"dinger equation, that is studied in the momentum and angular momentum bases. In the first case the eigenfunctions are factorized in terms of products of two q-exponentials. In the second case we determine the eigenstates of the unitary representation, which, in the qP case, are given in terms of Hahn-Exton functions. Introducing the universal T-matrix for Eq(2) we prove that the Hahn-Exton as well as Jackson q-Bessel functions are also obtained as matrix elements of T, thus giving the correct extension to quantum groups of well known methods in harmonic analysis.

Deformation Quantization of the Heisenberg Group

A *-product compatible with the comultiplication of the Hopf algebra of the functions on the Heisenberg group is determined by deforming a coboundary Lie-Poisson structure defined by a classical r-matrix satisfying the modified Yang-Baxter equation. The corresponding quantum group is studied and its R-matrix is explicitly calculated.

Exponential mapping for non semisimple quantum groups

The concept of universal T matrix, recently introduced by Fronsdal and Galindo in the framework of quantum groups, is here discussed as a generalization of the exponential mapping. New examples related to inhomogeneous quantum groups of physical interest are developed, the duality calculations are explicitly presented and it is found that in some cases the universal T matrix, like for Lie groups, is expressed in terms of usual exponential series.
