10-plectic formulation of gravity and Cartan connections

We give a Hamiltonian formulation of %the first order Weyl--Einstein--Cartan gravity which is covariant from the viewpoint of the geometry of the principal fiber bundle. The connection is represented by a $1$-form with values in the Poincar\'{e} Lie algebra, which is defined on the total space of the orthonormal frame bundle fibered over the space-time. Within the $10$-plectic framework we discover that the local equivariance property of the Cartan connection is a consequence of the Hamilton equations.

Curved space-times by crystallization of liquid fiber bundles

Motivated by the search for a Hamiltonian formulation of Einstein equations of gravity which depends in a minimal way on choices of coordinates, nor on a choice of gauge, we develop a multisymplectic formulation on the total space of the principal bundle of orthonormal frames on the 4-dimensional space-time. This leads quite naturally to a new theory which takes place on 10-dimensional manifolds. The fields are pairs of $((\alpha,\omega),\varpi)$, where $(\alpha,\omega)$ is a 1-form with coefficients in the Lie algebra of the Poincar\'e group and $\varpi$ is an 8-form with coefficients in the dual of this Lie algebra. The dynamical equations derive from a simple variational principle and imply that the 10-dimensional manifold looks locally like the total space of a fiber bundle over a 4-dimensional base manifold. Moreover this base manifold inherits a metric and a connection which are solutions of a system of Einstein--Cartan equations.

Multisymplectic formulation of vielbein gravity. De Donder-Weyl formulation, Hamiltonian (n-1)-forms

We consider the De Donder-Weyl (DW) Hamiltonian formulation of the Palatini action of vielbein gravity formulated in terms of the solder form and spin connection, which are treated as independent variables. The basic geometrical constructions necessary for the DW Hamiltonian theory of vielbein gravity are presented. We reproduce the DW Hamilton equations in the multisymplectic and pre-multisymplectic formulations. We also give basic examples of Hamiltonian (n-1)-forms and related Poisson brackets.

$n$-plectic Maxwell Theory

This note provides a detailed treatment of the Multisymplectic Maxwell theory through the general setting developed in [24] [26] [27]. In particular we explore the DeDonder-Weyl theory, the question of algebraic and dynamical observable forms, the copolarization process related to the good search of canonical forms. Finally, we give - for the two dimensional case - some indications for the construction of the higher Lepage-Dedecker correspondence, in the context of the underlying Grassmannian viewpoint.

The notion of Observables in Multisymplectic Geometry

This note provides an overview of the notion of observable within the setting of multisymplectic geometry. We essentially follow the ideas described by F. H\'elein and J. Kouneiher [17] [18] [19] and in particular in keeping with the approach developed in [16]. The following discussion should be considered as a synthesis of the principal motives and results presented in those writings. This note is a contribution to the Frontiers of Fundamental Physics (FFP11) Conference Proceedings.
