ConsistNav: Closing the Action Consistency Gap in Zero-Shot Object Navigation with Semantic Executive Control

Zero-shot object navigation has advanced rapidly with open-vocabulary detectors, image--text models, and language-guided exploration. However, even after current methods detect a plausible target hypothesis, the agent may still oscillate between exploration and pursuit, or abandon the object near success. We identify this failure mode as an action consistency gap: semantic evidence is repeatedly reinterpreted at each step without persistent commitment across the episode. We introduce ConsistNav, a training-free zero-shot ObjectNav framework built around a semantic executive composed of three coordinated modules: Finite-State Executive Controller stages target pursuit through guarded semantic phases; Persistent Candidate Memory accumulates cross-frame target evidence into stable object hypotheses; and Stability-Aware Action Control suppresses rotational stagnation, ineffective pursuit, and unverified stopping. This design changes neither the detector nor the low-level planner; instead, it controls when semantic evidence should influence navigation and when it should be suppressed or revisited. We conduct extensive experiments on HM3D and MP3D, where ConsistNav achieves state-of-the-art results among compared zero-shot ObjectNav methods and improves SR by 11.4% and SPL by 7.9% over the controlled baseline on MP3D. Ablation studies and real-world deployment experiments further demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed executive mechanism.

AgroCoT: A Chain-of-Thought Benchmark for Evaluating Reasoning in Vision-Language Models for Agriculture

Recent advancements in Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have significantly impacted various industries. In agriculture, these multimodal capabilities hold great promise for applications such as precision farming, crop monitoring, pest detection, and environmental sustainability. However, while several Visual Question Answering (VQA) datasets and benchmarks have been developed to assess VLM performance, they often fail to effectively evaluate the critical reasoning and problem-solving skills needed in complex agricultural contexts. To address this gap, we introduce AgroCoT, a VQA dataset that integrates Chain-of-Thought (CoT) reasoning, specifically designed to evaluate the reasoning capabilities of VLMs. With 4,759 carefully curated samples, AgroCoT provides a comprehensive and robust evaluation of reasoning abilities, particularly in zero-shot scenarios, focusing on the models' ability to engage in logical reasoning and effective problem-solving. Our evaluation of 30 representative VLMs, including both proprietary and open-source models, reveals a gap in their reasoning capabilities, which underscores the importance of incorporating CoT for assessments. Our dataset is available at https://huggingface.co/datasets/AgroCoT/AgroCoT.

Progress of the TianQin project

TianQin is a future space-based gravitational wave observatory targeting the frequency window of $10^{-4}$ Hz $\sim 1$ Hz. A large variety of gravitational wave sources are expected in this frequency band, including the merger of massive black hole binaries, the inspiral of extreme/intermediate mass ratio systems, stellar-mass black hole binaries, Galactic compact binaries, and so on. TianQin will consist of three Earth orbiting satellites on nearly identical orbits with orbital radii of about $10^5$ km. The satellites will form a normal triangle constellation whose plane is nearly perpendicular to the ecliptic plane. The TianQin project has been progressing smoothly following the ``0123" technology roadmap. In step ``0", the TianQin laser ranging station has been constructed and it has successfully ranged to all the five retro-reflectors on the Moon. In step ``1", the drag-free control technology has been tested and demonstrated using the TianQin-1 satellite. In step ``2", the inter-satellite laser interferometry technology will be tested using the pair of TianQin-2 satellites. The TianQin-2 mission has been officially approved and the satellites will be launched around 2026. In step ``3", i.e., the TianQin-3 mission, three identical satellites will be launched around 2035 to form the space-based gravitational wave detector, TianQin, and to start gravitational wave detection in space.

Effect of Earth-Moon's gravity on TianQin's range acceleration noise

TianQin is a proposed space gravitational-wave detection mission using circular high Earth orbits. The geocentric concept has raised questions about the disturbing effect of the nearby gravity field of the Earth-Moon system on the highly-sensitive intersatellite ranging measurements. Here we examine the issue through high precision numerical orbit simulation with detailed gravity-field models. By evaluating range accelerations between distant free-falling test masses, the study shows that the majority of the Earth-Moon's gravity disturbances are not in TianQin's detection frequency band above $10^{-4}$ Hz, and hence present no showstoppers to the mission.

Optimizing orbits for TianQin

TianQin is a geocentric space-based gravitational-wave observatory mission consisting of three drag-free controlled satellites in an equilateral triangle with an orbital radius of $ 10^{5}$ km. The constellation faces the white-dwarf binary RX J0806.3+1527 located slightly below the ecliptic plane, and is subject to gravitational perturbations that can distort the formation. In this study, we present combined methods to optimize the TianQin orbits so that a set of 5-year stability requirements can be met. Moreover, we discuss slow long-term drift of the detector pointing due to orbital precession, and put forward stable orbits with six other pointings along the lunar orbital plane. Some implications of the findings are pointed out.
