New insights into Gleason parts for an algebra of holomorphic functions

We study the structure of the spectrum of the algebra of uniformly continuous holomorphic functions on the unit ball of $\ell_p$. Our main focus is the relationship between \emph{Gleason parts} and \emph{fibers}. For every $z \in B_{\ell_p}$ with $1 < p < \infty$, we prove that the fiber over $z$ contains $2^{\mathfrak{c}}$ distinct Gleason parts. We also investigate some of the properties of these Gleason parts and show the existence of many strong boundary points in certain fibers. We then examine the case $p = 1$, where similar results on the abundance of Gleason parts within the fibers hold, although the arguments required are more involved. Our results extend and complete earlier work on the subject, providing answers to previously posed questions.

Characterization of multipliers on vector-valued Hardy spaces

This work characterizes the multipliers on vector-valued Hardy spaces over the infinite polydisk and the infinite polytorus, as well as in the context of Dirichlet series. Unlike the scalar-valued setting, where these frameworks are completely analogous reformulations of one another, there are significant differences in the vector-valued context. We prove that while the space of multipliers on the infinite polydisk is $H_\infty(\mathbb{D}^\infty_2, B(X))$, the situation on the infinite polytorus is distinct; assuming $X$ is separable, the multiplier space can be identified as $H_\infty^{sot}(\mathbb{T}^\infty, B(X))$, consisting of essentially bounded SOT-measurable functions. These spaces coincide when $X$ possesses the analytic Radon-Nikodym property. Finally, we extend these results to the associated Hardy spaces of Dirichlet series, $\mathcal{H}_p^+(X)$ and $\mathcal{H}_p(X)$, providing characterizations for their respective multiplier spaces.

Phase retrieval from short-time Fourier transform in LCA groups

We study the short-time Fourier transform phase retrieval problem in locally compact abelian groups. Using probabilistic methods, we show that for a large class of groups $G$ and compact subsets $K\subseteq G$ there exists a window function and a uniformly discrete set in $G\times \widehat{G}$ allowing phase retrieval in $L^2(K)$. We also study the obstructions for STFT phase retrieval on $L^2(G)$, motivating the restriction to compactly supported function spaces.

The fundamental functions of the canonical basis of Hardy spaces of Dirichlet series

Given a frequency $\lambda=(\lambda_n)$, we consider the Hardy spaces $ \mathcal{H}_p^\lambda$ of $\lambda$-Dirichlet series $ D = \sum_n a_n e^{-\lambda_n s}$ and study the asymptotic behavior of the upper and lower democracy functions of its canonical basis $\mathcal B=\{e^{-\lambda_ns}\}$. For the ordinary case, $\mathcal B=\{n^{-s}\}$, we give the correct asymptotic behavior of all such functions, while in the general case we give sharp lower and upper bounds for all possible behaviors. Moreover, for $p>2$ we present examples showing that any intermediate behavior (between the extreme bounds) can occur. We also study how different properties of the frequency $\lambda$ lead to particular behaviors of the corresponding fundamental functions. Finally, we apply our results to analyze greedy-type properties of $\mathcal B=\{e^{-\lambda_ns}\}$ for some particular $\lambda$'s.

Entropy numbers and box dimension of polynomials and holomorphic functions

We study entropy numbers and box dimension of (the image of) homogeneous polynomials and holomorphic functions between Banach spaces. First, we see that entropy numbers and box dimensions of subsets of Banach spaces are related. We show that the box dimension of the image of a ball under a homogeneous polynomial is finite if and only if it spans a finite-dimensional subspace, but this is not true for holomorphic functions. Furthermore, we relate the entropy numbers of a holomorphic function to those of the polynomials of its Taylor series expansion. As a consequence, if the box dimension of the image of a ball by a holomorphic function $f$ is finite, then the entropy numbers of the polynomials in the Taylor series expansion of $f$ at any point of the ball belong to $\ell_p$ for every $p>1$.

Hypercontractivity and strips of convergence in Hardy spaces of general Dirichlet series

For a general Dirichlet series $\sum a_n e^{-\lambda_n s}$ with frequency $\lambda=(\lambda_n)_n$, we study how horizontal translation (i.e. convolution with a Poisson kernel) improves its integrability properties. We characterize hypercontractive frequencies in terms of their additive structure answering some questions posed by Bayart. We also provide sharp bounds for the strips $S_p(\lambda)$ that encode the minimum translation necessary for series in the Hardy space $\mathcal{H}_p(\lambda)$ to have absolutely convergent coefficients.

Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund inequalities in variable Lebesgue spaces

We study $\ell^r$-valued extensions of linear operators defined on Lebesgue spaces with variable exponent. Under some natural (and usual) conditions on the exponents, we characterize $1\leq r\leq \infty$ such that every bounded linear operator $T\colon L^{q(\cdot)}(\Omega_2, \mu)\to L^{p(\cdot)}(\Omega_1, \nu)$ has a bounded $\ell^r$-valued extension. We consider both non-atomic measures and measures with atoms and show the differences that can arise. We present some applications of our results to weighted norm inequalities of linear operators and vector-valued extensions of fractional operators with rough kernel.

On sets of extreme functions for Fatou's theorem

Bounded holomorphic functions on the disk have radial limits in almost every direction, as follows from Fatou's theorem. Given a zero-measure set $E$ in the torus $\mathbb T$, we study the set of functions such that $\lim_{r \to 1^{-}} f(r \, w)$ fails to exist for every $w\in E$ (such functions were first constructed by Lusin). We show that the set of Lusin-type functions, for a fixed zero-measure set $E$, contain algebras of algebraic dimension $\mathfrak{c}$ (except for the zero function). When the set $E$ is countable, we show also in the several-variable case that the Lusin-type functions contain infinite dimensional Banach spaces and, moreover, contain plenty of $\mathfrak{c}$-dimensional algebras. We also address the question for functions on infinitely many variables.

Homomorphisms on algebras of analytic functions on non-symmetrically regular spaces

We study homomorphisms on the algebra of analytic functions of bounded type on a Banach space. When the domain space lacks symmetric regularity, we show that in every fiber of the spectrum there are evaluations (in higher duals) which do not coincide with evaluations in the second dual. We also consider the commutativity of convolutions between evaluations. We show that in some Banach spaces $X$ (for example, $X=\ell_1$) the only evaluations that commute with every other evaluation in $X''$ are those in $X$. Finally, we establish conditions ensuring the symmetry of the canonical extension of a symmetric multilinear operator (on a non-symmetrically regular space) and present some applications.

Splitting the Riesz basis condition for systems of dilated functions]{Splitting the Riesz basis condition for systems of dilated functions through Dirichlet series

Inspired by the work of Hedenmalm, Lindqvist and Seip, we consider different properties of dilations systems of a fixed function $\varphi \in L^2(0,1)$. More precisely, we study when the system $\{\varphi(nx)\}_n$ is a Bessel sequence, a Riesz sequence, or it satisfies the lower frame bound. We are able to characterize these properties in terms of multipliers of the Hardy space $\mathcal{H}^2$ of Dirichtet series and, also, in terms of Hardy spaces on the infinite polytorus. We also address the multivariate case.

Algebras and Banach spaces of Dirichlet series with maximal Bohr's strip

We study linear and algebraic structures in sets of Dirichlet series with maximal Bohr's strip. More precisely, we consider a set $\mathscr M$ of Dirichlet series which are uniformly continuous on the right half plane and whose strip of uniform but not absolute convergence has maximal width, i.e., $\frac{1}{2}$. Considering the uniform norm, we show that $\mathscr M$ contains an isometric copy of $\ell_1$ (except zero) and is strongly $\aleph_0$-algebrable. Also, there is a dense $G_\delta$ set such that any of its elements generates a free algebra contained in $\mathscr M\cup \{0\}$. Furthermore, we investigate $\mathscr{M}$ as a subset of the Hilbert space of Dirichlet series whose coefficients are square-summable. In this case, we prove that $\mathscr M$ contains an isometric copy of $\ell_2$ (except zero).

Decoupling inequalities with exponential constants

Decoupling inequalities disentangle complex dependence structures of random objects so that they can be analyzed by means of standard tools from the theory of independent random variables. We study decoupling inequalities for vector-valued homogeneous polynomials evaluated at random variables. We focus on providing geometric conditions ensuring decoupling inequalities with good constants depending only exponentially on the degree of the polynomial. Assuming the Banach space has finite cotype we achieve this for classical decoupling inequalities that compare the polynomials with their associated multilinear operators. Under stronger geometric assumptions on the involved Banach spaces, we also obtain decoupling inequalities between random polynomials and fully independent random sums of their coefficients. Finally, we present decoupling inequalities where in the multilinear operator just two independent copies of the random vector are involved (one repeated $m-1$ times).

Holomorphic functions with large cluster sets

We study linear and algebraic structures in sets of bounded holomorphic functions on the ball which have large cluster sets at every possible point (i.e., every point on the sphere in several complex variables and every point of the closed unit ball of the bidual in the infinite dimensional case). We show that this set is strongly c-algebrable for all separable Banach spaces. For specific spaces including lp or duals of Lorentz sequence spaces, we have strongly c-algebrability and spaceability even for the subalgebra of uniformly continuous holomorphic functions on the ball.

A note on the symmetry of sequence spaces

We give a self-contained treatment of symmetric Banach sequence spaces and some of their natural properties. We are particularly interested in the symmetry of the norm and the existence of symmetric linear functionals. Many of the presented results are known or commonly accepted but are not found in the literature.

Hausdorff-Young type inequalities for vector-valued Dirichlet series

We study Hausdorff-Young type inequalities for vector-valued Dirichlet series which allow to compare the norm of a Dirichlet series in the Hardy space $\mathcal{H}_{p} (X)$ with the $q$-norm of its coefficients. In order to obtain inequalities completely analogous to the scalar case, a Banach space must satisfy the restrictive notion of Fourier type/cotype. We show that variants of these inequalities hold for the much broader range of spaces enjoying type/cotype. We also consider Hausdorff-Young type inequalities for functions defined on the infinite torus $\mathbb{T}^{\infty}$ or the boolean cube $\{-1,1\}^{\infty}$.

Random unconditional convergence of vector-valued Dirichlet series

We study random unconditionality of Dirichlet series in vector-valued Hardy spaces $\mathcal H_p(X)$. It is shown that a Banach space $X$ has type 2 (respectively, cotype 2) if and only if for every choice $(x_n)_n\subset X$ it follows that $(x_n n^{-s})_n$ is Random unconditionally convergent (respectively, divergent) in $\mathcal H_2(X)$. The analogous question on $\mathcal H_p(X)$ spaces for $p\neq2$ is also explored. We also provide explicit examples exhibiting the differences between the unconditionality of $(x_n n^{-s})_n$ in $\mathcal H_p(X)$ and that of $(x_n z^n)_n$ in $H_p(X)$.

Unconditional Frames of Translates in $L_p(\mathbb{R}^d)$

We show that, for $1<p \le 2$, the space $L_p(\mathbb{R}^d)$ does not admit unconditional Schauder frames $\left\lbrace f_i,f_i'\right\rbrace_{i\in\mathbb{N}}$ where $\left\lbrace f_i\right\rbrace$ is a sequence of translates of finitely many functions and $\left\lbrace f_i'\right\rbrace$ is seminormalized. In fact, the only subspaces of $L_p(\mathbb{R}^d)$ admitting such Banach frames are those isomorphic to $\ell_p$. On the other hand, if $2<p<+\infty$ and $\left\lbrace \lambda_{i}\right\rbrace_{i\in\mathbb{N}}\subseteq \mathbb{R}^d$ is an unbounded sequence, there is a subsequence $\left\lbrace \lambda_{m_i}\right\rbrace_{i\in\mathbb{N}}$, a function $f\in L_p(\mathbb{R}^d)$, and a seminormalized sequence of bounded functionals $\left\lbrace f_i'\right\rbrace_{i\in\mathbb{N}}$ such that $\left\lbrace T_{\lambda_{m_i}}f,f_i'\right\rbrace_{i\in\mathbb{N}}$ is an unconditional Schauder frame for $L_p(\mathbb{R}^d)$.

The algebra of bounded type holomorphic functions on the ball

We study the spectrum $M_b(U)$ of the algebra of bounded type holomorphic functions on a complete Reinhardt domain in a symmetrically regular Banach space $E$ as an analytic manifold over the bidual of the space. In the case that $U$ is the unit ball of $\ell_p$, $1<p<\infty$, we prove that each connected component of $M_b(B_{\ell_p})$ naturally identifies with a ball of a certain radius. We also provide estimates for this radius and in many natural cases we have the precise value. As a consequence, we obtain that for connected components different from that of evaluations, these radii are strictly smaller than one, and can be arbitrarily small. We also show that for other Banach sequence spaces, connected components do not necessarily identify with balls.
