Interstellar Object 3I/ATLAS Observed from Mars by China's Tianwen-1 Spacecraft

China's Tianwen-1 Mars orbiter successfully imaged the third interstellar object, 3I/ATLAS, during its close encounter with Mars using the onboard HiRIC CMOS camera. This is China's first deep-space observation of an astronomical object. These observations constitute the first imaging of this object from a vantage point significantly out of its orbital plane, providing a unique constraint on dust dynamics. Three observing epochs between 2025 September 30 and October 3 reveal clear changes in coma and tail morphology driven by the rapidly evolving viewing geometry. Comparison with Finson-Probstein dust dynamical models indicates that the coma is dominated by large grains with solar radiation pressure parameter $\beta \approx 10^{-3} $ - $10^{-2}$, corresponding to grain sizes of a few 100s $\mu$m. The extent of the sunward coma implies dust ejection velocities of $3$ - $10$ m s$^{-1}$. Despite the morphological evolution, the azimuthally averaged surface brightness profile remains nearly unchanged through the three epochs, transitioning from a radial slope near -1 close to the nucleus to slightly steeper than -1.5 at larger cometocentric distances, consistent with steady-state dust outflow accelerated by solar radiation pressure. Photometry yields an average $Af\rho \sim (2.0\pm0.2)\times10^4$ cm and a corresponding dust mass loss rate of $\dot{M} \sim 10^3$ kg s$^{-1}$.

Absence of Andreev Bound States in Noncentrosymmetric Superconductor PbTaSe$_2$ under Hydrostatic Pressures

Noncentrosymmetric superconductor PbTaSe$_2$, hosting bulk nodal-line fermions (Phys. Rev. B. 89, 020505) and spin-helical surface states (Nature Communication 7, 10556), represents a prime candidate for realizing topological superconductivity and Majorana bound states (MBS). However, the definitive experimental signature of MBS in this system has thus far remained elusive. Here we provide a comprehensive investigation of its superconducting properties under hydrostatic pressure. Combining Andreev reflection spectroscopy and temperature-dependent resistance measurements, we identify a separated surface-like superconductivity from the bulk one at a critical pressure $P_c$. The superconducting surface state demonstrate an $s$-wave pairing state with a strong coupling strength. Under magnetic fields, the absence of zero-bias conductance peak in the pressurized point-contact Andreev reflection spectrum. Our findings imposes a constraint on the theoretical proposals for realizing Majorana bound states in noncentrosymmetric superconductors.

A Strongly Anisotropic Superconducting Gap in the Kagome Superconductor CsV$_3$Sb$_5$: A Study of Directional Point-Contact Andreev Reflection Spectroscopy

In the recently discovered V-based kagome superconductors AV$_3$Sb$_5$ (A = K, Rb, and Cs), superconductivity is intertwined with an unconventional charge density wave (CDW) order, raising a fundamental concern on the superconducting gap structure of such kagome superconductors in the presence of CDW orders. Here, we report directional soft point-contact Andreev reflection (SPCAR) spectroscopy measurements on the kagome superconductor CsV$_3$Sb$_5$, revealing compelling evidence for the existence of a strongly anisotropic superconducting gap pairing state. The SPCAR spectra measured with current injected parallel to the $ab$-plane exhibit an in-gap single conductance peak, in contrast to those of SPCAR spectra: a double-peak structure in the perpendicular direction. These spectra are well described by an anisotropic single-gap BTK model. The extracted superconducting gaps comprise an isotropic large gap and a strongly anisotropic gap, originating from different Fermi surface sheets. Quantitative analysis reveals an anisotropy around $\ sim$70\% with a gap minimum of about 0.15 meV. These results shed new light on the unconventional multiband pairing states in kagome superconductors.

Topological Surface Superconductivity Induced by Hydrostatic Pressure-Enhanced Antisymmetric Spin-Orbit Coupling in Non-Centrosymmetric Superconductor PbTaSe2

A notable characteristic of PbTaSe$_2$, a prototypical noncentrosymmetric (NCS) superconductor, is that its superconductivity can be modulated through a structural transition under hydrostatic pressure [Phys. Rev. B 95, 224508 (2017)]. Here we report on simultaneous pressure-sensitive point-contact Andreev reflection (PCAR) spectroscopy and bulk resistance measurements on PbTaSe$_2$, to elucidate the nature of the surface and bulk superconductivity and their evolution with hydrostatic pressure. It is found that in high pressure region the superconducting gap opening temperature $T_c^A$ is significantly lower that the bulk resistive transition temperature $T_c^R$, revealing a clear experimental signature of surface-bulk separation associated with enhanced antisymmetric spin-orbit coupling (ASOC). The PCAR spectra, reflecting the superconducting surface state, are analyzed with the Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk theory, yielding an isotropic $s$-wave full BCS-gap in the strong coupling regime. Analysis based on a modified McMillan formula indicates a sizable coupling strength contributed from ASOC for the superconducting surface state. These results suggest the coexistence of full gap $s$-wave superconductivity and topological surface states in PbTaSe$_2$, indicating that this NSC with significantly enhanced ASOC may offer a solid platform to investigate the topological aspect in the superconducting condensate.

Topological Phase Transition and Chiral-Anomaly Driven Negative Magneto-Resistance in Bulk Black Phosphorus

We report the anisotropic magneto-transport measurement on a non-compound band semiconductor black phosphorus (BP) with magnetic field B up to 16 Tesla applied in both perpendicular and parallel to electric current I under hydrostatic pressures. The BP undergoes a topological Lifshitz transition from band semiconductor to a zero-gap Dirac semimetal state, characterized by a weak localization-weak antilocaliation transition at low magnetic fields and the emergence of a nontrivial Berry Phase of detected by SdH magneto-oscillations in magnetoresistance curves. In the transition region, we observe a pressure-dependent negative MR only in the B//I configuration. This negative longitudinal MR is attributed to the Adler-Bell-Jackiw anomaly (topological E$\cdot$B term) in the presence of weak antilocalization corrections.

Electronic specific heat in BaFe$_{2-x}$Ni$_x$As$_2$

We have systematically studied the low-temperature specific heat of the BaFe$_{2-x}$Ni$_x$As$_2$ single crystals covering the whole superconducting dome. Using the nonsuperconducting heavily overdoped x = 0.3 sample as a reference for the phonon contribution to the specific heat, we find that the normal-state electronic specific heats in the superconducting samples may have a nonlinear temperature dependence, which challenges previous results in the electron-doped Ba-122 iron-based superconductors. A model based on the presence of ferromagnetic spin fluctuations may explain the data between x = 0.1 and x = 0.15, suggesting the important role of Fermi-surface topology in understanding the normal-state electronic states.

Nematic Quantum Critical Fluctuations in BaFe$_{2-x}$Ni$_x$As$_2$

We have systematically studied the nematic fluctuations in the electron-doped iron-based superconductor BaFe$_{2-x}$Ni$_x$As$_2$ by measuring the in-plane resistance change under uniaxial pressure. While the nematic quantum critical point can be identified through the measurements along the (110) direction as studied previously, quantum and thermal critical fluctuations cannot be distinguished due to similar Curie-Weiss-like behaviors. Here we find that a sizable pressure-dependent resistivity along the (100) direction is present in all doping levels, which is against the simple picture of an Ising-type nematic model. The signal along the (100) direction becomes maximum at optimal doping, suggesting that it is associated with nematic quantum critical fluctuations. Our results indicate that thermal fluctuations from striped antiferromagnetic order dominate the underdoped regime along the (110) direction. We argue that either there is a strong coupling between the quantum critical fluctuations and the fermions, or more exotically, a higher symmetry may be present around optimal doping.

Evidence for Half-Metallicity in n-type HgCr2Se4

High quality HgCr$_2$Se$_4$ single crystals have been investigated by magnetization, electron transport and Andreev reflection spectroscopy. In the ferromagnetic ground state, the saturation magnetic moment of each unit cell corresponds to an integer number of electron spins (3 $\mu_B$/Cr$^{3+}$), and the Hall effect measurements suggest n-type charge carriers. Spin polarizations as high as $97\%$ were obtained from fits of the differential conductance spectra of HgCr$_2$Se$_4$/Pb junctions with the modified Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk (BTK) theory. The temperature and bias-voltage dependencies of the sub-gap conductance are consistent with recent theoretical calculations based on spin active scatterings at a superconductor/half metal interface. Our results suggest that n-HgCr$_2$Se$_4$ is a half metal, in agreement with theoretical calculations that also predict undoped HgCr$_2$Se$_4$ is a magnetic Weyl semimetal.

The spectroscopic signature of Kondo screening on single adatoms in Na(Fe0.96Co0.03Mn0.01)As

The electronic states of surface adatoms in Na(Fe0.96Co0.03Mn0.01)As have been studied by low temperature scanning tunneling spectroscopy. The spectra recorded on the adatoms display both superconducting coherence peaks and an asymmetric resonance in a larger energy scale. The Fano-type line shape of the spectra points towards a possible Kondo effect at play. The apparent energy position of the resonance peak shifts about 5 meV to the Fermi level when measured across the critical temperature, supporting that the Bogoliubov quasiparticle is responsible for the Kondo screening in the superconducting state. The tunneling spectra do not show the subgap bound states, which is explained as the weak pair breaking effect given by the weak and broad scattering potential after the Kondo screening.

Evidence of a spin resonance mode in the iron-based superconductor Ba$_{0.6}$K$_{0.4}$Fe$_{2}$As$_{2}$ from scanning tunneling spectroscopy

We used high-resolution scanning tunneling spectroscopy to study the hole-doped iron pnictide superconductor Ba$_{0.6}$K$_{0.4}$Fe$_{2}$As$_{2}$ ($T_c=38$ K). Features of a bosonic excitation (mode) are observed in the measured quasiparticle density of states. The bosonic features are intimately associated with the superconducting order parameter and have a mode energy of $\sim$14 meV, similar to the spin resonance measured by inelastic neutron scattering. These results indicate a strong electron-spin excitation coupling in iron pictnide superconductors, similar to that in high-$T_c$ copper oxide superconductors.

Vortex images on Ba{1-x}KxFe2As2 observed directly by the magnetic force microscopy

The vortex states on optimally doped Ba0.6K0.4Fe2As2 and underdoped Ba0.77K0.23Fe2As2 single crystals are imaged by magnetic force microscopy at various magnetic fields below 100 Oe. Local triangular vortex clusters are observed in optimally doped samples. The vortices are more ordered than those in Ba(Fe{1-x}Co{x})2As2, and the calculated pinning force per unit length is about 1 order of magnitude weaker than that in optimally Co-doped 122 at the same magnetic field, indicating that the Co doping at the Fe sites induces stronger pinning. The proportion of six-neighbored vortices to the total amount increases quickly with increasing magnetic field, and the estimated value reaches 100% at several tesla. Vortex chains are also found in some local regions, which enhance the pinning force as well as the critical current density. Lines of vortex chains are observed in underdoped samples, and they may have originated from the strong pinning near the twin boundaries arising from the structural transition.

Multiple Magnetization Peaks and New Type of Vortex Phase Transitions in Ba0.6K0.4Fe2As2

Magnetization and its relaxation have been measured on Ba0.6K0.4Fe2As2 single crystals with Tc = 39 K. The magnetization hysteresis loops (MHLs) exhibit flux jumps in the low temperature region, and a second peak-effect in the intermediate temperature region, especially when the field sweeping rate is low. Interestingly a third magnetization peak can be easily observed on the MHLs in the high temperature region. Further analysis find that the first magnetization peak is very sharp, which is associated with the strong vortex pinning. However the first dip of the MHL corresponds to a moderate relaxation rate, then a second peak appears accompanied by a vanishing vortex motion. Finally a third magnetization peak emerges and the vortex motion becomes drastic beyond this threshold. The novel features accompanying the second magnetization peak suggest a new type of vortex phase transition.

Transport properties and asymmetric scattering in Ba$_{1-x}$K$_x$Fe$_2$As$_2$ single crystals compared to the electron doped counterparts Ba(Fe$_{1-x}$Co$_{x}$)$_{2}$As$_{2}$}

Resistivity, Hall effect and magnetoresistance have been investigated systematically on single crystals of Ba$_{1-x}$K$_x$Fe$_2$As$_2$ ranging from undoped to optimally doped regions. A systematic evolution of the quasiparticle scattering has been observed. It is found that the resistivity in the normal state of Ba$_{1-x}$K$_x$Fe$_2$As$_2$ is insensitive to the potassium doping concentration, which is very different from the electron doped counterpart Ba(Fe$_{1-x}$Co$_{x}$)$_{2}$As$_{2}$, where the resistivity at 300 K reduces to half value of the undoped one when the system is optimally doped. In stark contrast, the Hall coefficient R$_H$ changes suddenly from a negative value in the undoped sample to a positive one with slight K-doping, and it keeps lowering with further doping. We interpret this dichotomy due to the asymmetric scattering rate in the hole and the electron pockets with much higher mobility of the latter. The magnetoresistivity shows also a non-monotonic doping dependence indicating an anomalous feature at about 80 K to 100 K, even in the optimally doped sample, which is associated with a possible pseudogap feature. In the low temperature region, it seems that the resistivity has the similar values when superconductivity sets in disregarding the different T$_c$ values, which indicates a novel mechanism of the superconductivity. A linear feature of resistivity $\rho_{ab}$ vs. $T$ was observed just above $T_c$ for the optimally doped sample, suggesting a quantum criticality.

Gap Anisotropy in Iron-Based Superconductors: A Point-Contact Andreev Reflection Study of BaFe$_{2-x}$Ni$_{x}$As$_2$ Single Crystals

We report a systematic investigation on c-axis point-contact Andreev reflection (PCAR) in BaFe$_{2-x}$Ni$_x$As$_2$ superconducting single crystals from underdoped to overdoped regions (0.075 $\leq x\leq 0.15$). At optimal doping ($x=0.1$) the PCAR spectrum feature the structures of two superconducting gap and electron-boson coupling mode. In the $s\pm$ scenario, quantitative analysis using a generalized Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk (BTK) formalism with two gaps: one isotropic and another angle dependent, suggest a nodeless state in strong-coupling limit with gap minima on the Fermi surfaces. Upon crossing above the optimal doping ($x > 0.1$), the PCAR spectrum show an in-gap sharp narrow peak at low bias, in contrast to the case of underdoped samples ($x < 0.1$), signaling the onset of deepened gap minima or nodes in the superconducting gap. This result provides evidence of the modulation of the gap amplitude with doping concentration, consistent with the calculations for the orbital dependent pair interaction mediated by the antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations.

Low Temperature Specific Heat of Optimally Doped BaFe$_{2-x}$$TM_x$As$_{2}$ ($TM$ = Co and Ni) Single Crystals: Constraint on the Pairing Gap

Low temperature specific heat has been measured in optimally doped and highly overdoped non-superconducting BaFe$_{2-x}$TM$_x$As$_{2}$ ($TM$ = Co and Ni) single crystals. By using the data of the overdoped samples, we successfully removed the phonon contribution of the optimally doped ones, and derived the electronic specific heat coefficient $\gamma_e$. Remarkably, we found a continuing temperature dependent $\gamma_e(T)$ which follows the quadratic relation $\gamma_e=\gamma_0+\alpha T^2$ in the low temperature limit. Together with the very small residual term $\gamma_0$, linear magnetic field dependence of $\gamma_e$, it is concluded that there are either small segments of nodal lines, or point-like nodes in these samples.

Observation of Lattice and Andreev Bound States of Vortices in Ba0.6K0.4Fe2As2 Single Crystals with Scanning Tunneling Microscopy/Spectroscopy

For a type-II superconductor, when the applied magnetic field is higher than the lower critical value Hc1, the magnetic flux will penetrate into the superconductor and form quantized vortices, which usually are arranged in an Abrikosov lattice. For the newly discovered iron pnictide superconductors, previous measurements have shown that, in electron-doped BaFe2As2, the vortices form a highly disordered structure. In addition, the density of states (DOS) within the vortex cores1 do not exhibit the Andreev bound states in conventional superconductors. In this Letter, we report the observation of a triangular vortex lattice and the Andreev bound states in hole-doped BaFe2As2 by using a low temperature scanning tunneling microscope (STM). Detailed study of the vortex cores reveals that the spectrum of the Andreev bound states inside the vortex core exhibits a distinct spatial evolution: at the center of the vortex core, it appears as a single peak at 0.5 mV below the Fermi-energy; away from the core center, it gradually evolves into two sub-peaks and they eventually fade out. The drastic differences between the vortex cores of the electron-doped and hole-doped counterparts are illusive to the pairing mechanism of the iron pnictide superconductors.

Flux dynamics and vortex phase diagram in $Ba(Fe_{1-x}Co_x)_2As_2$ single crystals revealed by magnetization and its relaxation

Magnetization and its relaxation have been measured in $Ba(Fe_{1-x}Co_x)_2As_2$ single crystals at various doping levels ranging fromvery underdoped to very overdoped regimes. Sizable magnetization relaxation rate has been observed in all samples, indicating a moderate vortex motion and relatively small characteristic pinning energy. Detailed analysis leads to the following conclusions: (1) A prominent second-peak (SP) effect was observed in the samples around the optimal doping level (x $\approx$ 0.08), but it becomes invisible or very weak in the very underdoped and overdoped samples; (2) The magnetization relaxation rate is inversely related to the transient superconducting current density revealing the non-monotonic field and temperature dependence through the SP region; (3) A very sharp magnetization peak was observed near zero field which corresponds to a much reduced relaxation rate; (4) A weak temperature dependence of relaxation rate or a plateau was found in the intermediate temperature region. Together with the treatment of the Generalized-Inversion-Scheme, we suggest that the vortex dynamics is describable by the collective pinning model. Finally, vortex phase diagrams were drawn for all the samples showing a systematic evolution of vortex dynamics.

Specific-Heat Measurement of Residual Superconductivity in the Normal State of Underdoped Cuprate Superconductors

We have measured the magnetic field and temperature dependence of specific heat on $Bi_2Sr_{2-x}La_xCuO_{6+\delta}$ single crystals in wide doping and temperature regions. The superconductivity related specific heat coefficient $\gamma_{sc}$ and entropy $S_{sc}$ are determined. It is found that $\gamma_{sc}$ has a hump-like anomaly at $T_c$ and behaves as a long tail which persists far into the normal state for the underdoped samples, but for the heavily overdoped samples the anomaly ends sharply just near $T_c$. Interestingly, we found that the entropy associated with superconductivity is roughly conserved when and only the long tail part in the normal state is taken into account for the underdoped samples, indicating the residual superconductivity above T$_c$.
