A Hamiltonian action of the Schrödinger-Virasoro algebra on a space of periodic time-dependent Schrödinger operators in $(1+1)$-dimensions

Let ${\cal S}^{lin}:=\{a(t)(-2\II \partial_t-\partial_r^2+V(t,r) | a\in C^{\infty}(\R/2π\Z), V\in C^{\infty}(\R/2π\Z\times\R)\}$ be the space of Schrödinger operators in $(1+1)$-dimensions with periodic time-dependent potential. The action on ${\cal S}^{lin}$ of a large infinite-dimensional reparametrization group $SV$ with Lie algebra $\sv$ \cite{RogUnt06,Unt08}, called the Schrödinger-Virasoro group and containing the Virasoro group, is proved to be Hamiltonian for a certain Poisson structure on ${\cal S}^{lin}$. More precisely, the infinitesimal action of $\sv$ appears to be part of a coadjoint action of a Lie algebra of pseudo-differential symbols, $\g$, of which $\sv$ is a quotient, while the Poisson structure is inherited from the corresponding Kirillov-Kostant-Souriau form.

Extensions and contractions of the Lie algebra of q-pseudodifferential symbols

We construct cocycles on the Lie algebra of pseudo- and q-pseudodifferential symbols of one variable and on their close relatives: the sine-algebra and the Poisson algebra on two-torus. A ``quantum'' Godbillon-Vey cocycle on (pseudo)-differential operators appears in this construction as a natural generalization of the Gelfand-Fuchs 3-cocycle on periodic vector fields. We describe a nontrivial embedding of the Virasoro algebra into (a completion of) q-pseudodifferential symbols, and propose q-analogs of the KP and KdV-hierarchies admitting an infinite number of conserved charges.

Looped cotangent Virasoro algebra and non-linear integrable systems in dimension 2+1

We consider a Lie algebra generalizing the Virasoro algebra to the case of two space variables. We study its coadjoint representation and calculate the corresponding Euler equations. In particular, we obtain a bi-Hamiltonian system that leads to an integrable non-linear partial differential equation. This equation is an analogue of the Kadomtsev--Petviashvili (of type B) equation.

The Schrödinger-Virasoro Lie group and algebra: from geometry to representation theory

This article is concerned with an extensive study of an infinite-dimensional Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sv}$, introduced in the context of non-equilibrium statistical physics, containing as subalgebras both the Lie algebra of invariance of the free Schrödinger equation and the central charge-free Virasoro algebra $Vect(S^1)$. We call $\mathfrak{sv}$ the Schrödinger-Virasoro algebra. We choose to present $\mathfrak{sv}$ from a Newtonian geometry point of view first, and then in connection with conformal and Poisson geometry. We turn afterwards to its representation theory: realizations as Lie symmetries of field equations, coadjoint representation, coinduced representations in connection with Cartan's prolongation method (yielding analogues of the tensor density modules for $Vect(S^1)$), and finally Verma modules with a Kac determinant formula. We also present a detailed cohomological study, providing in particular a classification of deformations and central extensions; there appears a non-local cocycle.
