OmniVBench: A Benchmark and Large-Scale Dataset for Omni Reference-to-Video Generation

Reference-to-video (R2V) generation is evolving toward increasingly general and versatile reference control, giving rise to the emerging paradigm of omni R2V generation. However, existing benchmarks fall short of these emerging capabilities: their test cases cover limited reference types and compositions, and their evaluation protocols largely assess holistic reference consistency, overlooking whether reference factors are properly preserved, disentangled, and routed. Meanwhile, the high cost of constructing omni R2V training data makes suitable training resources scarce. To address these gaps, we introduce OmniVBench and the Omni-R2V Dataset for evaluating and training omni R2V models. OmniVBench expands R2V evaluation across broader reference types, fine-grained control tasks, and richer reference compositions, covering 7 task families and 18 fine-grained tasks spanning content, motion, style, structure, narrative, and multi-reference settings. We introduce factor-grounded evaluation with 12,172 case-specific checklist items, assessing whether intended reference factors are faithfully preserved, correctly disentangled and bound to their targets, and properly realized according to the instruction. We further introduce the Omni-R2V Dataset, bringing industrial-grade training resources for diverse R2V tasks to the broader research community. Drawing primarily on a large-scale corpus of professional video footage, it comprises 340K processed training samples spanning diverse reference types and multi-reference compositions. We develop task-specific pipelines for reference-target pair construction, offering a practical and scalable recipe for omni R2V data construction. Extensive evaluation of advanced open- and closed-source R2V models reveals clear performance gaps across task families and evaluation dimensions on OmniVBench, highlighting remaining limitations of current R2V models.

PoEW:Encryption as Consensus and Enabling Data Compression Services?

Proof-of-Work (PoW) is a fundamental method in decentralized digital networks for establishing consensus on a shared ledger. By requiring network participants to solve a mathematical puzzle, PoW maintains network integrity. However, PoW has raised environmental concerns due to its significant energy consumption. This paper introduces Proof-of-Encryption-Work (PoEW), a novel PoW consensus mechanism that repurposes computational power to address the challenge of encryption-based data compression. PoEW uses an exhaustive key search as the PoW puzzle. Given a lengthy plaintext and a fixed ciphertext, the corresponding key is derived. Since the plain-text is much longer than both the key and the ciphertext, this process compresses the plaintext to the key. This data compression is computationally intensive, while decompression is straightforward.

An Empirical Study of JavaScript Inclusion Security Issues in Chrome Extensions

JavaScript, a scripting language employed to augment the capabilities of web browsers within web pages or browser extensions, utilizes code segments termed JavaScript inclusions. While the security aspects of JavaScript inclusions in web pages have undergone substantial scrutiny, a thorough investigation into the security of such inclusions within browser extensions remains absent, despite the divergent security paradigms governing these environments. This study presents a systematic measurement of JavaScript inclusions in Chrome extensions, employing a hybrid methodology encompassing static and dynamic analysis to identify these inclusions. The analysis of 36,324 extensions revealed 350,784 JavaScript inclusions. Subsequent security assessment indicated that, although the majority of these inclusions originate from local files within the extensions rather than external servers, 22 instances of vulnerable remote JavaScript inclusions were identified. These remote inclusions present potential avenues for malicious actors to execute arbitrary code within the extension's execution context. Furthermore, an analysis of JavaScript library utilization within Chrome extensions disclosed the prevalent use of susceptible and outdated libraries, notably within numerous widely adopted extensions.

Demystify Adult Learning: A Social Network and Large Language Model Assisted Approach

Adult learning is increasingly recognized as a crucial way for personal development and societal progress. It however is challenging, and adult learners face unique challenges such as balancing education with other life responsibilities. Collecting feedback from adult learners is effective in understanding their concerns and improving learning experiences, and social networks provide a rich source of real-time sentiment data from adult learners. Machine learning technologies especially large language models (LLMs) perform well in automating sentiment analysis. However, none of such models is specialized for adult learning with accurate sentiment understanding. In this paper, we present A-Learn, which enhances adult learning sentiment analysis by customizing existing general-purpose LLMs with domain-specific datasets for adult learning. We collect adult learners' comments from social networks and label the sentiment of each comment with an existing LLM to form labelled datasets tailored for adult learning. The datasets are used to customize A-Learn from several base LLMs. We conducted experimental studies and the results reveal A-Learn's competitive sentiment analysis performance, achieving up to 91.3% accuracy with 20% improvement over the base LLM. A-Learn is also employed for word cloud analysis to identify key concerns of adult learners. The research outcome of this study highlights the importance of applying machine learning with educational expertise for teaching improvement and educational innovations that benefit adult learning and adult learners.
