Magnetotransport and Carrier Dynamics in Quasi-One-Dimensional Antiferromagnet KMn$_6$Bi$_5$

Quasi-one-dimensional materials $A$Mn$_6$Bi$_5$ ($A$ = Na, K, Rb, Cs) exhibit unique electronic behaviors such as antiferromagnetism, charge density waves, and pressure-induced superconductivity. Thus, they serve as a suitable model system to investigate emergent quantum phenomena produced by the interactions among spin, charge, and lattice. Here we report the magnetotransport properties of KMn$_6$Bi$_5$, revealing a cascade of temperature-dependent carrier dynamics. Below 5 K, the system, despite its anisotropic electronic structure, could be effectively described by an isotropic two-band model and exhibits a large, non-saturating magnetoresistance ($\propto B^{1.8}$). Upon warming, a crossover to a single-band regime occurs around 20 K, driven by the suppression of a hole pocket. Electron density recovers as antiferromagnetic gap openings gradually close from 25 to 70 K which is just below the N$\mathrm{\acute{e}}$el temperature. Within this temperature range, field-quenched spin fluctuations suppress magnetoresistance. Furthermore, we attribute the low-temperature resistivity upturn to the scaling behavior of magnetoresistance. These findings provide crucial insights into the interplay of dimensionality, magnetism, and electron correlations in quasi-one-dimensional magnetic semimetals.

Large longitudinal and anomalous transverse Magneto-thermoelectric effect in kagome antiferromagnet FeGe

Topological Kagome magnets, characterized by nontrivial electronic band structures featuring flat band, Dirac cone and van Hove singularities, provide a new avenue for the realization of thermoelectric devices. Unlike the conventional longitudinal Seebeck effect, transverse thermoelectric (TE) effects like the Nernst effect have attracted growing interest due to their unique transverse geometry and potential advantages. Here, we report the observation of a significant transverse thermoelectric conductivity alpha A_zx of 15 A K-1m-1 at low temperatures, together with a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect in the Kagome antiferromagnet FeGe, which exhibits a charge density wave inside the antiferromagnetic (AFM) state. This value is the highest record among known AFM materials. Furthermore, the thermopower at 14 T increases by 102-104% around the canted-AFM (CAFM) transition temperature, Tcant, comparable to that of the well-known AFM thermoelectric materials. These effects are attributed to large Berry curvature arising from the non-collinear spin texture in FeGe, highlighting its potential for enhancing thermoelectric performance and its candidacy for magneto-TE applications in Kagome antiferromagnetic materials.

Weak low-temperature ferromagnetism and linear magnetoresistance in Lu$_{0.75}$Fe$_6$Sn$_6$ with a disordered HfFe$_6$Ge$_6$-type structure

We report the synthesis of Lu$_{0.75}$Fe$_6$Sn$_6$ single crystals with a Fe-kagome lattice using a self-flux method. The crystal structure, magnetic, thermodynamic and electrical transport properties were investigated. Structure refinement reveals that Lu$_{0.75}$Fe$_6$Sn$_6$ has a HfFe$_6$Ge$_6$-type structure as the major framework intergrown with a CoSn-type structure, leading to a vacancy of 25% on the Lu-site and disorder on the Sn-site. It exhibits a significant magnetic anisotropy with weak ferromagnetism in the ab-plane below 40 K and antiferromagnetic behavior along the c-axis. The weak ferromagnetism is due to the canted antiferromagnetism with magnetic moment deviating from the $c$-axis to the ab-plane. Besides, an anisotropic non-saturated linear magnetoresistance is also observed in Lu$_{0.75}$Fe$_6$Sn$_6$, probably resulting from the structural disorder in the sample.

Anisotropic transport properties and topological Hall effect in the annealed kagome antiferromagnet FeGe

Electron correlation often gives birth to various orders in quantum materials. Recently, a strongly correlated kagome antiferromagnet FeGe is discovered to undergo a charge density wave transition inside the A-type antiferromagnetic state, providing an opportunity to explore the interplay between charge order and magnetism. Here, we reported the observation of anisotropic resistivity and Hall effect, along with a topological Hall effect, in the annealed FeGe crystals. As the current flows along the \emph{ab}-plane, the temperature dependence of $\rho_{ab}$ exhibits a distinct resistivity loop related to a first-order transition at $T_{cdw}$. The applied magnetic fields do not alter $T_{cdw}$ but can induce a spin-flop transition at $H_{sf}$. Consequently, a field-induced large topological Hall effect is observed in the canting antiferromagnetic (CAFM) state below $T_{cant}$, which is possibly attributed to the non-trivial spin texture during the spin-flop process. Whereas, as current is parallel to \emph{c}-axis, both the field-induced transitions in $\rho_{c}$ and $\chi_{c}$ disappear. Instead, the Hall resistivity in the annealed FeGe significantly exhibits a deviation from the linear field-dependent. These findings provide valuable insight into revealing the interplay among magnetism, charge order and topology in the kagome magnets.

Charge density wave with suppressed long-range structural modulation in canted antiferromagnetic kagome FeGe

Kagome lattice can host abundant exotic quantum states such as superconductivity and charge density wave (CDW). Recently, successive orders of A-type antiferromagnetism (AFM), CDW and canted AFM have been manifested upon cooling in kagome FeGe. However, the mechanism of CDW and interaction with magnetism remains unclear. Here we investigate the evolution of CDW with temperature across the canted AFM by single-crystal x-ray diffraction, scanning tunneling microscope (STM) and resonant elastic x-ray scattering (REXS). Interestingly, CDW-induced superlattice reflections become weak after the canted AFM, although long-range CDW order is still detectable by STM and REXS. We uncover a novel long-range CDW order with suppressed structural modulation, likely due to the competition for the underlying crystal structure between CDW and canted AFM. Additionally, occupational modulations of Ge1 in the kagome plane and displacive modulations of all atoms were extracted. The results confirm Ge dimerization along the c axis and suggest a dynamic transformation between different CDW domains.

Annealing-induced long-range charge density wave order in magnetic kagome FeGe: fluctuations and disordered structure

Charge density wave (CDW) in kagome materials with the geometric frustration is able to carry unconventional characteristics. Recently, a CDW has been observed below the antiferromagnetic order in kagome FeGe, in which magnetism and CDW are intertwined to form an emergent quantum ground state. However, the CDW is only short-ranged and the structural modulation originating from it has yet to be determined experimentally. Here we realize a long-range CDW order by post-annealing process, and resolve the structure model through single crystal x-ray diffraction. Occupational disorder of Ge resulting from short-range CDW correlations above $T_\mathrm{CDW}$ is identified from structure refinements. The partial dimerization of Ge along the $c$ axis is unveiled to be the dominant distortion for the CDW. Occupational disorder of Ge is also proved to exist in the CDW phase due to the random selection of partially dimerized Ge sites. Our work provides useful insights for understanding the unconventional nature of the CDW in FeGe.

Spin and charge density waves in the quasi-one-dimensional KMn6Bi5

AMn6Bi5 materials (A = Na, K, Rb and Cs) consisting of unique Mn-cluster chains emerge as a new family of superconductors with the suppression of their antiferromagnetic (AFM) order under high pressures. Here, we report transverse incommensurate spin density waves (SDWs) for the Mn atoms with a propagating direction along the chain axes as a ground state for KMn6Bi5 by single crystal neutron diffraction. The SDWs have a refined amplitude of ~2.46 Bohr magnetons for the Mn atoms in the pentagons and ~0.29 Bohr magnetons with a large standard deviation for Mn atoms in the center between the pentagons. AFM dominate both the nearest-neighbor Mn-Mn interactions within the pentagon and next-nearest-neighbor Mn-Mn interactions out of the pentagon (along the propagating wave). The SDWs exhibit both local and itinerant characteristics probably formed by a cooperative interaction between local magnetic exchange and conduction electrons. A significant magnetoelastic effect during the AFM transition, especially along the chain direction, has been demonstrated by temperature-dependent x-ray powder diffraction. Single crystal x-ray diffraction below the AFM transition revealed satellite peaks originating from charge density waves along the chain direction with a q-vector twice as large as the SDW one, pointing to a strong real space coupling between them. Our work not only manifests a fascinating interplay among spin, charge, lattice and one dimensionality to trigger intertwined orders in KMn6Bi5 but also provides important piece of information for the magnetic structure of the parent compound to understand the mechanism of superconductivity in this new family.

Gastroscopic Panoramic View: Application to Automatic Polyps Detection under Gastroscopy

Endoscopic diagnosis is an important means for gastric polyp detection. In this paper, a panoramic image of gastroscopy is developed, which can display the inner surface of the stomach intuitively and comprehensively. Moreover, the proposed automatic detection solution can help doctors locate the polyps automatically, and reduce missed diagnosis. The main contributions of this paper are: firstly, a gastroscopic panorama reconstruction method is developed. The reconstruction does not require additional hardware devices, and can solve the problem of texture dislocation and illumination imbalance properly; secondly, an end-to-end multi-object detection for gastroscopic panorama is trained based on deep learning framework. Compared with traditional solutions, the automatic polyp detection system can locate all polyps in the inner wall of stomach in real time and assist doctors to find the lesions. Thirdly, the system was evaluated in the Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University. The results show that the average error of the panorama is less than 2 mm, the accuracy of the polyp detection is 95%, and the recall rate is 99%. In addition, the research roadmap of this paper has guiding significance for endoscopy-assisted detection of other human soft cavities.
