STAGE: Stateful Translation to Agentic Graph Execution with Policy-Scoped Context and Deterministic Control

Policy-governed agents must interpret case evidence while reliably following authorized procedures. We present STAGE, an executable-graph framework that confines model judgment to policy-scoped nodes while placing procedural control in deterministic code. We evaluate STAGE on three public policy-following benchmarks and Smart Dispute, a proprietary banking benchmark. Compared with monolithic full-policy execution, STAGE improves task success and repeated-run reliability, with its largest observed gains on the deeper workflows. On $τ^2$-bench Telecom and Smart Dispute, $\mathrm{Pass}^{3}$ improves by up to 55.0 and 65.7 percentage points, respectively. These results demonstrate the value of combining localized policy reasoning with deterministic procedural control for enterprise use.

Entanglement distillation based on polarization and frequency hyperentanglement

Entanglement distillation has many applications in quantum information processing and is an important tool for improving the quality and efficiency of quantum communication, cryptography, computing, and simulation. We propose an entanglement distillation scheme using only one pair of polarization-frequency hyperentangled photons, which can be equivalently viewed as containing two pairs of entangled logical qubits: a pair of polarization-entangled qubits and a pair of frequency-entangled qubits. To perform the required CNOT operation between the two qubits we consider the use of a polarization-dependent frequency converter. Compared to past methods of entanglement distillation that relied on polarization and spatial-mode/energy-time degree of freedom, the utilization of frequency-encoded qubits offers an advantage in that it is immune to bit-flip errors when the channel is linear. After distillation, the fidelity of polarization entanglement can be significantly improved by sacrificing the frequency degree of freedom. Through simulation, we show that high fidelity gains, large yield, and high distillation rate can be achieved. Our distillation scheme is simple to implement with current technologies, compatible with existing telecommunication fiber networks, and is a promising approach for achieving efficient quantum communication.

Telecom-band Hyperentangled Photon Pairs from a Fiber-based Source

Hyperentanglement, the simultaneous and independent entanglement of quantum particles in multiple degrees of freedom, is a powerful resource that can be harnessed for efficient quantum information processing. In photonic systems, the two degrees of freedom (DoF) often used to carry quantum and classical information are polarization and frequency, thanks to their robustness in transmission, both in free space and in optical fibers. Telecom-band hyperentangled photons generated in optical fibers are of particular interest because they are compatible with existing fiber-optic infrastructure, and can be distributed over fiber networks with minimal loss. Here, we experimentally demonstrate the generation of telecom-band biphotons hyperentangled in both the polarization and frequency DoFs using a periodically-poled silica fiber and observe entanglement concurrences above 0.95 for both polarization and frequency DOFs. Furthermore, by concatenating a Hong-Ou-Mandel interference test for frequency entanglement and full state tomography for polarization entanglement in a single experiment, we can demonstrate simultaneous entanglement in both the polarization and frequency DOFs. The states produced by our hyperentanglement source can enable protocols such as dense coding and high-dimensional quantum key distribution.

Broadband Fiber-based Entangled Photon Pair Source at Telecom O-band

In this letter, we report a polarization-entangled photon-pair source based on type-II spontaneous parametric down conversion at telecom O-band in periodically poled silica fiber (PPSF). The photon-pair source exhibits more than 130 nm (~24 THz) emission bandwidth centered at 1306.6 nm. The broad emission spectrum results in a short biphoton correlation time and we experimentally demonstrate a Hong-Ou-Mandel interference dip with a full width of 26.6 fs at half maximum. Owing to the low birefringence of the PPSF, the biphotons generated from type-II SPDC are polarization-entangled over the entire emission bandwidth, with a measured fidelity to a maximally entangled state greater than 95.4%. The biphoton source provides the broadest bandwidth entangled biphotons at O-band to our knowledge.

Recovering the full dimensionality of hyperentanglement in collinear photon pairs

Exploiting hyperentanglement of photon pairs, that is, simultaneous entanglement in multiple degrees of freedom(DOFs), increases the dimensionality of Hilbert spaces for quantum information processing. However, generation of hyperentangled photon pairs collinearlly, while produces high brightness, results in a smaller Hilbert space due to the two photons being in the same spatial mode. In this letter, we point out that one can recover the full dimensionality of such hyperentanglement through a simple interference set up, similar to the time-reversed Hong-Ou-Mandel (TR-HOM) process. Different from the standard TR-HOM, we point out a critical phase condition has to be satisfied in order to recover the hyperentanglement. We theoretically analyze the realization of this approach and discuss the feasibility of generating truly hyperentangled photon pairs. Our proposed approach does not require post-selection and hence enables efficient hyper-entangled photon pairs generation for high-dimensional quantum applications.

Biphoton shaping with cascaded entangled-photon sources

Quantum entanglement is an integral part of quantum optics and has been exploited in areas such as computation, cryptography and metrology. The entanglement between photons can be present in various degrees of freedom (DOFs), and even the simplest bi-partite systems can occupy a large Hilbert space. Therefore, it is desirable to exploit this multi-dimensional space for various quantum applications by fully controlling the properties of the entangled photons in multiple DOFs. While current entangled-photon sources are capable of generating entanglement in one or more DOFs, there is currently a lack of practical techniques that can shape and control the entanglement properties in multiple DOFs. Here we show that cascading two or more entangled-photon sources with tunable linear media in between allows us to generate photon-pairs whose entanglement properties can be tailored and shaped in the frequency and polarisation domains. We first develop a quantum mechanical model to study the quantum state generated from the cascade structure with special considerations paid to the effects of pump temporal coherence, linear dispersion, and in-structure polarisation transformation applied between the entangled-photon sources. We then experimentally generate photon-pairs with tunable entanglement properties by manipulating the dispersion and birefringence properties of the linear medium placed in between two entangled-photon sources. This is done in an all-fibre, phase stable, and alignment-free configuration. Our results show that the cascade structure offers a great deal of flexibility in tuning the properties of entangled photons in multiple DOFs, opening up a new avenue in engineering quantum light sources.

Alignment-free dispersion measurement with interfering biphotons

Measuring the dispersion of photonic devices with small dispersion-length products is challenging due to the phase-sensitive, and alignment-intensive nature of conventional methods. In this letter, we demonstrate a quantum technique to extract the second-, and third-order chromatic dispersion of a short single-mode fiber using a fiber-based quantum nonlinear interferometer. The interferometer consists of two cascaded fiber-based biphoton sources, with each source acting as a nonlinear beamsplitter. A fiber under test is placed in between these two sources, and introduces a frequency-dependent phase that is imprinted upon the biphoton spectrum (interferogram) at the output of the interferometer. This interferogram contains within it the dispersion properties of the test fiber. Our technique has three novel features: (1) The broadband nature of the biphoton sources used in our setup allows accurate dispersion measurements on test devices with small dispersion-length products; (2) our all-fiber common-path interferometer requires no beam alignment or phase stabilization; (3) multiple phase-matching processes supported in our biphoton sources enables dispersion measurements at different wavelengths, which yields the third-order dispersion, achieved for the first time using a quantum optical technique.

Turn-Key Diode-Pumped All-Fiber Broadband Polarization-Entangled Photon Source

In this letter, we report a compact, low-power laser diode-pumped, all-fiber polarization-entangled photon pair source based on periodically-poled silica fiber technology. The all-fiber source offers room-temperature, alignment-free, turn-key operation, with low power consumption, and is packaged into a fanless, portable enclosure. It features a broad biphoton spectrum of more than 100nm with a concurrence that is greater than 0.96 for polarization entanglement. The source is stable over at least 10 hours of continuous operation, achieving coincidence-to-accidental ratios of more than 2000 consistently over this time period.

Buffer Map Message Compression Based on Relevant Window in P2P Streaming Media System

Popular peer to peer streaming media systems such as PPLive and UUSee rely on periodic buffer-map exchange between peers for proper operation. The buffer-map exchange contains redundant information which causes non-negligible overhead. In this paper we present a theoretical framework to study how the overhead can be lowered. Differentiating from the traditional data compression approach, we do not treat each buffer-map as an isolated data block, but consider the correlations between the sequentially exchanged buffer-maps. Under this framework, two buffer-map compression schemes are proposed and the correctness of the schemes is proved mathematically. Moreover, we derive the theoretical limit of compression gain based on probability theory and information theory. Based on the system parameters of UUSee (a popular P2P streaming platform), our simulations show that the buffer-map sizes are reduced by 86% and 90% (from 456 bits down to only 66 bits and 46 bits) respectively after applying our schemes. Furthermore, by combining with the traditional compression methods (on individual blocks), the sizes are decreased by 91% and 95% (to 42 bits and 24 bits) respectively. Our study provides a guideline for developing practical compression algorithms.

Compression and Quantitative Analysis of Buffer Map Message in P2P Streaming System

BM compression is a straightforward and operable way to reduce buffer message length as well as to improve system performance. In this paper, we thoroughly discuss the principles and protocol progress of different compression schemes, and for the first time present an original compression scheme which can nearly remove all redundant information from buffer message. Theoretical limit of compression rates are deduced in the theory of information. Through the analysis of information content and simulation with our measured BM trace of UUSee, the validity and superiority of our compression scheme are validated in term of compression ratio.

Fingerprint for Network Topologies

A network's topology information can be given as an adjacency matrix. The bitmap of sorted adjacency matrix(BOSAM) is a network visualisation tool which can emphasise different network structures by just looking at reordered adjacent matrixes. A BOSAM picture resembles the shape of a flower and is characterised by a series of 'leaves'. Here we show and mathematically prove that for most networks, there is a self-similar relation between the envelope of the BOSAM leaves. This self-similar property allows us to use a single envelope to predict all other envelopes and therefore reconstruct the outline of a network's BOSAM picture. We analogise the BOSAM envelope to human's fingerprint as they share a number of common features, e.g. both are simple, easy to obtain, and strongly characteristic encoding essential information for identification.

Initial Offset Placement in p2p Live Streaming Systems

Initial offset placement in p2p streaming systems is studied in this paper. Proportional placement (PP) scheme is proposed. In this scheme, peer places the initial offset as the offset reported by other reference peer with a shift proportional to the buffer width or offset lag of this reference peer. This will introduce a stable placement that supports larger buffer width for peers and small buffer width for tracker. Real deployed placement method in PPLive is studied through measurement. It shows that, instead of based on offset lag, the placement is based on buffer width of the reference peer to facilitate the initial chunk fetching. We will prove that, such a PP scheme may not be stable under arbitrary buffer occupation in the reference peer. The required average buffer width then is derived. A simple good peer selection mechanism to check the buffer occupation of reference peer is proposed for a stable PP scheme based on buffer width

Fetching Strategy in the Startup Stage of p2p Live Streaming

A protocol named Threshold Bipolar (TB) is proposed as a fetching strategy at the startup stage of p2p live streaming systems. In this protocol, chunks are fetched consecutively from buffer head at the beginning. After the buffer is filled into a threshold, chunks at the buffer tail will be fetched first while keeping the contiguously filled part in the buffer above the threshold even when the buffer is drained at a playback rate. High download rate, small startup latency and natural strategy handover can be reached at the same time by this protocol. Important parameters in this protocol are identified. The buffer progress under this protocol is then expressed as piecewise lines specified by those parameters. Startup traces of peers measured from PPLive are studied to show the real performance of TB protocol in a real system. A simple design model of TB protocol is proposed to reveal important considerations in a practical design.

Gnutella: Topology Dynamics On Phase Space

In this paper, the topology dynamic of Gnutella is studied through phase space. The dynamic changes in peer degree are studied as a time series in two dimensional phase space which is defined as the number of connected leaves and the number of connected ultras. The reported degrees are concentrated in three special Software related regions that we named as Ultra Stable Region, Leaf Stable Region and Transition Belt. A method is proposed to classify degree traces in phase space into different classes. Connection churn then is studied along with the churn in degree. It shows that the topological structure of Gnutella is rather stable in its connection degree but not the topology itself. The connection drop rate is estimated and the live time of connections is inferred afterwards. M/M/m/m loss queue system is introduced to model the degree keeping process in Gnutella. This model revealed that the degree stable is ensured by large new connection efforts. In other words the stable in topological structure of Gnutella is a results of essential unstable in its topology. That opens a challenge to the basic design philosophy of this network.
