TS-P$^2$CL: Plug-and-Play Dual Contrastive Learning for Vision-Guided Medical Time Series Classification

Medical time series (MedTS) classification is pivotal for intelligent healthcare, yet its efficacy is severely limited by poor cross-subject generation due to the profound cross-individual heterogeneity. Despite advances in architectural innovations and transfer learning techniques, current methods remain constrained by modality-specific inductive biases that limit their ability to learn universally invariant representations. To overcome this, we propose TS-P$^2$CL, a novel plug-and-play framework that leverages the universal pattern recognition capabilities of pre-trained vision models. We introduce a vision-guided paradigm that transforms 1D physiological signals into 2D pseudo-images, establishing a bridge to the visual domain. This transformation enables implicit access to rich semantic priors learned from natural images. Within this unified space, we employ a dual-contrastive learning strategy: intra-modal consistency enforces temporal coherence, while cross-modal alignment aligns time-series dynamics with visual semantics, thereby mitigating individual-specific biases and learning robust, domain-invariant features. Extensive experiments on six MedTS datasets demonstrate that TS-P$^2$CL consistently outperforms fourteen methods in both subject-dependent and subject-independent settings.

Association and Consolidation: Evolutionary Memory-Enhanced Incremental Multi-View Clustering

Incremental multi-view clustering aims to achieve stable clustering results while addressing the stability-plasticity dilemma (SPD) in view-incremental scenarios. The core challenge is that the model must have enough plasticity to quickly adapt to new data, while maintaining sufficient stability to consolidate long-term knowledge. To address this challenge, we propose a novel Evolutionary Memory-Enhanced Incremental Multi-View Clustering (EMIMC), inspired by the memory regulation mechanisms of the human brain. Specifically, we design a rapid association module to establish connections between new and historical views, thereby ensuring the plasticity required for learning new knowledge. Second, a cognitive forgetting module with a decay mechanism is introduced. By dynamically adjusting the contribution of the historical view to optimize knowledge integration. Finally, we propose a knowledge consolidation module to progressively refine short-term knowledge into stable long-term memory using temporal tensors, thereby ensuring model stability. By integrating these modules, EMIMC achieves strong knowledge retention capabilities in scenarios with growing views. Extensive experiments demonstrate that EMIMC exhibits remarkable advantages over existing state-of-the-art methods.

Fabry-Perot resonance modes in a MoS$_2$-based vertical stacking cavity for strong light-matter coupling and topological phase singularity

Rich dielectric properties in atomic transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) enhance light-matter interactions and contribute to a variety of optical phenomena. The direct transfer of TMDs onto photonic crystals facilitates optical field confinement and modifies photon dispersion through the generation of polaritons. However, light-matter interaction is severely limited by this stacking method. This limitation can be significantly improved by constructing a vertical stacking cavity with alternating layers of dielectric material and monolayer MoS$_2$. This multilayer structure is proven to be a compact, versatile, and customizable platform for controlling Fabry-Perot cavity resonance mode. Angle-resolved reflectance further aids in studying resonance mode dispersion. Moreover, the strong light-matter interaction results in multiple perfect absorptions, with the monolayer MoS$_2$ significantly contributing to the absorption in this system, as schematically revealed by the electric field distribution. The multiple perfect absorptions produce an unusual amounts of phase singularities with topological pairs, whose generation, evolution, and annihilation can be controlled by adjusting cavity parameters. Our findings provide a flexible and consistent framework for optimizing light-matter interactions and supporting further studies on wavefront shaping, optical vortices, and topological variants.

Extremely long transverse optical needle focus for reflective metalens enabled by monolayer MoS$_2$

Line-scan mode facilitates fast-speed and high-throughput imaging with developing a suitable optical transverse needle focus. Metasurface with periodic structures such as diffractive rings, ellipses, and gratings could enable discrete focus evolving into line focus under momentum conservation, but still face the challenge of extremely low light power utilization brought by inevitably multiple high-order diffractions. In addition, the designed focus requires the selection of particular optical functional materials. High dielectric constants in atomic transition metal dichalcogenides make significant phase modulation by bringing phase singularity at zero-reflection possible. However, no light power is available for use at zero-reflection and a balance between phase and amplitude modulation is needed. In this work, above issues are simultaneously solved by designing a monolayer MoS2 based Fresnel strip structure. An optical needle primary focus with a transverse length of 40 {\mu}m (~80 {\lambda}) is obtained, which is the longest value recorded so far, together with a sub-diffraction-limited lateral spot and a broad working wavelength range. This specially developed structure not only concentrates light power in primary diffraction by breaking restriction of momentum conservation, but also guarantees a consistent phase across different strips. The novel optical manipulation way provided here together with the longer focus length for flat optics will show promising applications in biology, oncology, nanofabrication, energy harvesting, and optical information processing.

Robust and Efficient Boosting Method using the Conditional Risk

Well-known for its simplicity and effectiveness in classification, AdaBoost, however, suffers from overfitting when class-conditional distributions have significant overlap. Moreover, it is very sensitive to noise that appears in the labels. This article tackles the above limitations simultaneously via optimizing a modified loss function (i.e., the conditional risk). The proposed approach has the following two advantages. (1) It is able to directly take into account label uncertainty with an associated label confidence. (2) It introduces a "trustworthiness" measure on training samples via the Bayesian risk rule, and hence the resulting classifier tends to have finite sample performance that is superior to that of the original AdaBoost when there is a large overlap between class conditional distributions. Theoretical properties of the proposed method are investigated. Extensive experimental results using synthetic data and real-world data sets from UCI machine learning repository are provided. The empirical study shows the high competitiveness of the proposed method in predication accuracy and robustness when compared with the original AdaBoost and several existing robust AdaBoost algorithms.

Direct and full-scale experimental verifications towards ground-satellite quantum key distribution

Quantum key distribution (QKD), provides the only intrinsically unconditional secure method for communication based on principle of quantum mechanics. Compared with fiber-based demonstrations-, free-space links could provide the most appealing solution for much larger distance. Despite of significant efforts, so far all realizations rely on stationary sites. Justifications are therefore extremely crucial for applications via a typical Low Earth Orbit Satellite (LEOS). To achieve direct and full-scale verifications, we demonstrate here three independent experiments with a decoy-state QKD system overcoming all the demanding conditions. The system is operated in a moving platform through a turntable, a floating platform through a hot-air balloon, and a huge loss channel, respectively, for substantiating performances under rapid motion, attitude change, vibration, random movement of satellites and in high-loss regime. The experiments cover expanded ranges for all the leading parameters of LEOS. Our results pave the way towards ground-satellite QKD and global quantum communication network.
