Bounded-orbit wandering domains do not exist

This paper establishes that transcendental entire functions do not have wandering Fatou components whose forward orbit is bounded. This settles a long-standing question in transcendental dynamics. A stronger statement is proved using the same method: the orbit of every point in a wandering domain of a transcendental meromorphic function is unbounded. In particular, transcendental meromorphic functions do not admit orbitally bounded wandering domains. The proofs rely mostly on uniform estimates for hyperbolic area, following the approach of Ye [arXiv:2609.23834v1].

On the geometry of unbounded wandering domains

We study the geometry of unbounded wandering domains of entire functions using Arakelian approximation. First, we show that, given a uniformly accessible closed set contained in a strip, the connected components of its interior can be realized as escaping or oscillating wandering domains of some entire function. The iterates of the function are univalent on these wandering domains, and any unbounded wandering domain remains unbounded under iteration. Next, we construct escaping or oscillating wandering domains by lifting bounded wandering domains with prescribed geometry via the exponential map. In particular, there exists an entire function that has a half-plane as a wandering domain. Finally, we show that, in some precise sense, any simply connected open set can be approximated by escaping or oscillating wandering domains. As a direct consequence, we obtain wandering domains whose complements have arbitrarily small areas.

Carleman approximation by non-critical functions on Riemann surfaces

We present the class of semi-admissible subsets of an open Riemann surface on which Carleman approximation by non-critical holomorphic functions is possible. In particular we characterize closed sets with empty interior on which continuous functions can be approximated by non-critical holomorphic ones. We also consider a different approach, which in some cases gives uniform approximation by non-critical holomorphic functions on more general sets than semi-admissible ones.
