Landauer entropy of spacetime

Based on Landauer's principle, we provide a geometrical definition for the entropy of a given static, spherically symmetric spacetime. Considering a congruence of geodesics across a surface, one defines the entropy of a congruence as the surface integral of the entropy of the constituent geodesics. Under certain mild assumptions, we establish a second law for the entropy function thus defined (Landauer entropy), and relate it to Bekenstein-Hawking entropy.

Preliminary test of cosmological models in the scale-dependent scenario

In the present work, we study for the first time a scale--dependent gravitational theory in a cosmological context in a matter--dominated era. In particular, starting from the Einstein Hilbert action with cosmological constant assuming scale--dependent couplings, we derive the corresponding effective Friedmann equations for the model and we solve them. We analyse in detail our results by comparing them with observational $Λ$CDM data as well as the very well-known running vacuum models. Finally, we have provided, in figures, the evolution of the Hubble parameter respect to the redshift as well as the gravitational coupling respect to the Hubble parameter and they show an agreement with the current observations.

Thermal Dileptons at LHC

We predict dilepton invariant-mass spectra for central 5.5 ATeV Pb-Pb collisions at LHC. Hadronic emission in the low-mass region is calculated using in-medium spectral functions of light vector mesons within hadronic many-body theory. In the intermediate-mass region thermal radiation from the Quark-Gluon Plasma, evaluated perturbatively with hard-thermal loop corrections, takes over. An important source over the entire mass range are decays of correlated open-charm hadrons, rendering the nuclear modification of charm and bottom spectra a critical ingredient.

Mini Black Holes at the LHC: Discovery Through Di-Jet Suppression, Mono-Jet Emission and a Supersonic Boom in the Quark-Gluon Plasma in ALICE, ATLAS and CMS

We examine experimental signatures of TeV-mass black hole formation in heavy ion collisions at the LHC. We find that the black hole production results in a complete disappearance of all very high $p_T$ ({$> 500$} GeV) back-to-back correlated di-jets of total mass {$M > M_f \sim 1$}TeV. We show that the subsequent Hawking-decay produces multiple hard mono-jets and discuss their detection. We study the possibility of cold black hole remnant (BHR) formation of mass $\sim M_f$ and the experimental distinguishability of scenarios with BHRs and those with complete black hole decay. Finally we point out that a Heckler-Kapusta-Hawking plasma may form from the emitted mono-jets. In this context we present new simulation data of Mach shocks and of the evolution of initial conditions until the freeze-out.

Gravitational radiation from elastic particle scattering in models with extra dimensions

In this paper we derive a formula for the energy loss due to elastic N to N particle scattering in models with extra dimensions that are compactified on a radius R. In contrast to a previous derivation we also calculate additional terms that are suppressed by factors of frequency over compactification radius. In the limit of a large compactification radius R those terms vanish and the standard result for the non compactified case is recovered.

Radiative Corrections to Deep-Inelastic Neutrino--Nucleon Scattering in the MSSM

We discuss the radiative corrections to charged and neutral current deep-inelastic neutrino--nucleon scattering in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). In particular, deviations from the Standard Model prediction for the ratios of neutral- to charged-current cross sections, $R^ν$ and $R^{\barν}$, are studied, and results of a scan over the MSSM parameter space are presented.
