A Strategy Toward Room Temperature Topological Hall Effect via Local Moment Magnetism

Topological spin textures in local moment systems hold great promise for technological applications due to their large magnetic moments, strong spin-orbit coupling (SOC), and high tunability. Finding new spin textures that are stable near room temperature is paramount to maximizing their potential for applications. Here, we provide a strategy for realizing topological spin textures at high temperatures by identifying rare earth ($R$) magnets ordering at or near room temperature. We demonstrate the feasibility of this strategy in one of these magnets, hexagonal Gd$_5$Pb$_3$, which orders at $T_C$ = 285 K. The indication for topological spin textures comes from topological Hall effect (THE), which, in Gd$_5$Pb$_3$, occurs between $T$ = 100 - 200 K, an order of magnitude higher temperature than in other reported $R$-based systems. Our results present an opportunity to explore the role of SOC, anisotropic exchange, geometric frustration, and magnetic interactions in stabilizing topological spin textures, and provide a pathway toward realizing them near room temperature in $R$-based magnets.

Unconventional Superconductivity in the Chiral Topological Semimetal Ag2Pd3S

Chiral crystals provide a unique setting where broken inversion symmetry, strong spin-orbit coupling, and electronic topology intertwine, yet superconductivity in intrinsically chiral materials remains rare. Here, we report unconventional superconductivity in the chiral topological semimetal Ag$_2$Pd$_3$S, an enantiomorphic analog of natural mineral coldwellite, crystallizing in the right-handed space group $P4_132$. Bulk superconductivity with a transition temperature $T_C = 1.1(2)$ K is confirmed by electrical resistivity, magnetization, and specific-heat measurements. Muon spin rotation and relaxation ($\mu$SR) experiments reveal a fully gapped superconducting state that spontaneously time-reversal symmetry (TRS) breaking establishing Ag$_2$Pd$_3$S as the first chiral topological semimetal superconductor exhibiting intrinsic TRS breaking. First-principles calculations uncover multiple multifold band crossings near the Fermi level, hosting Kramers-Weyl, double spin-1, and spin-3/2 quasiparticles with large topological charges. These unconventional fermions generate symmetry-protected topological surface states and underscore the nontrivial topology of the normal state. Symmetry analysis based on the Ginzburg-Landau theory suggests a loop-supercurrent-ordered superconducting state, yielding a full gap alongside spontaneous TRS breaking. The coexistence of TRS-breaking superconductivity and chiral multifold fermions identifies Ag$_2$Pd$_3$S as a platform for realizing intrinsic superconducting diode effects and chirality-induced spin selectivity, offering a transformative pathway toward dissipationless topological quantum technologies.

Error Analysis of a Conforming FEM for Multidimensional Fragmentation Equations

In this work, we develop and analyze a higher-order finite element method for the multidimensional fragmentation equation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to establish a rigorous, conforming finite element framework for high-order spatial approximation of multidimensional fragmentation models. The scheme is formulated in a variational setting, and its stability and convergence properties are derived through a detailed mathematical analysis. In particular, the $L^2$ projection operator is used to obtain optimal-order spatial error estimates under suitable regularity assumptions on the exact solution. For temporal discretization, a second-order backward differentiation formula (BDF2) is adopted, yielding a fully discrete scheme that achieves second-order convergence in time. The theoretical analysis establishes $ L^2$-optimal convergence rates of ${\cal O}(h^{r+1})$ in space, together with second-order accuracy in time. The theoretical findings are validated through a series of numerical experiments in two and three space dimensions. The computational results confirm the predicted error estimates and demonstrate the robustness of the proposed method for various choices of fragmentation kernels and selection functions.

Probing the intermediate state of type-I superconductor SnAs using Muon Spin Spectroscopy

Superconductivity with non-trivial band topology provides a novel platform for exploring topological superconductivity and its quantum applications. A detailed microscopic understanding of the superconducting ground state in such materials is crucial. Here, we report the results of a muon spin rotation/relaxation study ($\mu$SR) of the topologically non-trivial superconductor SnAs, which exhibits superconductivity below 3.74(1) \si{K}. Zero-field (ZF) $\mu$SR data reveal that this system is a time-reversal invariant superconductor, and systematic transverse-field (TF) $\mu$SR measurements unveil the type-I nature of the SnAs superconductor. We have established the superconducting phase diagram to understand the intermediate state of type-I superconductors. Moreover, ab \textit{initio} band structure and phonon calculations are performed, which correlate with the experimental characterization.

Unconventional superconductivity in a non-centrosymmetric ${\alpha}$-Mn alloy NbTaOs$_{2}$

Non-centrosymmetric superconductors have emerged as a fascinating avenue for exploring unconventional superconductivity. Their broken inversion and time-reversal symmetries make them prime candidates for realizing the intrinsic superconducting diode effect (SDE). In this work, we synthesize the ternary non-centrosymmetric $\alpha$-Mn alloy NbTaOs$_{2}$ and conduct a comprehensive investigation of its superconducting properties through resistivity, magnetization, specific heat and muon spin rotation/relaxation ($\mu$SR) techniques. Our transverse field-$\mu$SR and specific heat results provide evidence of a moderately coupled, fully-gaped superconducting state. Zero field-$\mu$SR measurements reveal a subtle increase in the relaxation rate below the transition temperature, suggesting time reversal symmetry breaking in the superconducting ground state of NbTaOs$_{2}$.

An Agent-Based Modeling Approach to Free-Text Keyboard Dynamics for Continuous Authentication

Continuous authentication systems leveraging free-text keyboard dynamics offer a promising additional layer of security in a multifactor authentication setup that can be used in a transparent way with no impact on user experience. This study investigates the efficacy of behavioral biometrics by employing an Agent-Based Model (ABM) to simulate diverse typing profiles across mechanical and membrane keyboards. Specifically, we generated synthetic keystroke data from five unique agents, capturing features related to dwell time, flight time, and error rates within sliding 5-second windows updated every second. Two machine learning approaches, One-Class Support Vector Machine (OC-SVM) and Random Forest (RF), were evaluated for user verification. Results revealed a stark contrast in performance: while One-Class SVM failed to differentiate individual users within each group, Random Forest achieved robust intra-keyboard user recognition (Accuracy > 0.7) but struggled to generalize across keyboards for the same user, highlighting the significant impact of keyboard hardware on typing behavior. These findings suggest that: (1) keyboard-specific user profiles may be necessary for reliable authentication, and (2) ensemble methods like RF outperform One-Class SVM in capturing fine-grained user-specific patterns.

Observation of superconductivity in a nontrivial $\mathcal{Z}_2$ approximant quasicrystal

Superconductivity and nontrivial topology are highly sought-after phenomena in quantum materials. While many topological crystalline materials have been found to exhibit superconductivity, their presence in quasicrystals - materials with a unique aperiodic yet ordered structure - has remained largely unexplored. In this work, we report the discovery of superconductivity in a monoclinic approximant to the decagonal quasicrystal Al$_{13}$Os$_{4}$, that exhibits a high superconducting transition temperature and a nontrivial electronic structure. The resistivity, magnetization, specific heat, and $\mu$SR measurements confirm superconductivity with a critical temperature of $\sim5.47$ K. Detailed electronic structure and symmetry analysis reveal nontrivial state with $\mathcal{Z}_{2}=1$ and spin-polarized conducting surface states. Importantly, we identify three-dimensional saddle point van Hove singularities with substantial flat energy dispersion at the Fermi level, which can enhance superconductivity. Our results highlight a rich interplay between superconductivity and nontrivial electronic states in Al$_{13}$Os$_{4}$, demonstrating it as a unique platform for exploring unconventional superconducting states in quasicrystalline materials.

Enumeration of groups in some special varieties of $A$-groups

We find an upper bound for the number of groups of order $n$ up to isomorphism in the variety $G = A_pA_qA_r$, where $p$, $q$ and $r$ are distinct primes. We also find a bound on the orders and on the number of conjugacy classes of subgroups that are maximal amongst the subgroups of the general linear group that are also in the variety $A_qA_r$.

Broken time-reversal symmetry in a new non-centrosymmetric superconductor Re8NbTa

Re-based superconductors provide a rich platform for the study of unconventional superconductivity. We have investigated the superconducting properties of Re$_{8}$NbTa, a new noncentrosymmetric cubic ($\alpha$-Mn structure) rhenium-based ternary superconductor using transport, magnetization, specific heat, and muon spin rotation/relaxation ($\mu$SR) measurements. Specific heat and transverse field $\mu$SR measurements suggest moderately coupled fully gapped superconductivity, well described by BCS theory. However, our zero-field $\mu$SR measurements reveal a small internal field onsetting around the superconducting T$_c$, indicating that the superconducting order parameter breaks the time-reversal symmetry.

Ce$_{2}$Ir$_{3}$Ga$_{5}$ : a new locally non-centrosymmetric heavy fermion system

Recently, a new type of unconventional superconductivity with a field-induced transition between two different superconducting (SC) states was discovered in the heavy fermion system CeRh$_{2}$As$_{2}$. This unusual SC state was proposed to be based on specific symmetries of the underlying structure, i.e., a globally centrosymmetric layered structure, but where the Ce-layers themselves lack inversion symmetry. This new type of SC state has attracted strong interest, prompting the search for further heavy fermion systems crystallizing in structures with appropriate symmetries. We report the discovery and the study of a new Ce-based heavy fermion system with a globally centrosymmetric structure but without inversion symmetry on the Ce-site, Ce$_{2}$Ir$_{3}$Ga$_{5}$. A single crystal X-ray diffraction study revealed an orthorhombic U$_{2}$Co$_{3}$Si$_{5}$ type structure. Resistivity, specific heat, and magnetization measurements indicate a moderate-heavy fermion behavior with a Kondo energy scale of the order of 40 K. Most experimental results suggest the absence of magnetic order, but a tiny anomaly in the specific heat opens the possibility for a very weak, itinerant type of ordering.

Superconducting properties of new hexagonal and noncentrosymmetric cubic high entropy alloys

Superconducting high-entropy alloys (HEAs) are a newly burgeoning field of unconventional superconductors and raise intriguing questions about the presence of superconductivity in highly disordered systems, which lack regular phonon modes. In our study, we have synthesized and investigated the superconducting characteristics of two new transition elements based HEAs Re$_{0.35} $Os$_{0.35} $Mo$_{0.08} $W$_{0.10} $Zr$_{0.12}$ (ReOMWZ) crystallizing in noncentrosymmetric $\alpha$-Mn structure, and Ru$_{0.35} $Os$_{0.35} $Mo$_{0.10} $W$_{0.10} $Zr$_{0.10}$ (RuOMWZ) crystallizing hexagonal closed-packed structure (hcp). Transition metal-based hexagonal hcp HEA is rare and highly desirable for practical applications due to their high hardness. Bulk magnetization, resistivity, and specific heat measurements confirmed bulk type-II superconductivity in both alloys. Specific heat analysis up to the measured low-temperature range suffices for a BCS explanation. Comparable upper critical fields with the Pauli paramagnetic limit suggest the possibility of unconventional superconductivity in both HEAs.

Superconducting ground state study of valence skip compound AgSnSe$_2$

The valence-skipped superconductors are natural candidates for unconventional superconductivity, as they can exhibit a negative effective, attractive interaction for electron-pairing. This work reports comprehensive XRD, magnetization, specific heat and muon spin rotation and relaxation measurements ($\mu$SR) on a valence-skipped compound: AgSnSe$_2$. The temperature dependence of the electronic specific heat ($C_{el}(T)$) and of the upper critical field ($H_{c2}(T)$) provide evidence of two-gap superconductivity, which is also confirmed by our transverse-field $\mu$SR measurements. Our zero-field $\mu$SR measurements suggest preserved time-reversal symmetry in the superconducting ground state of AgSnSe$_2$.

Voice Analysis for Stress Detection and Application in Virtual Reality to Improve Public Speaking in Real-time: A Review

Stress during public speaking is common and adversely affects performance and self-confidence. Extensive research has been carried out to develop various models to recognize emotional states. However, minimal research has been conducted to detect stress during public speaking in real time using voice analysis. In this context, the current review showed that the application of algorithms was not properly explored and helped identify the main obstacles in creating a suitable testing environment while accounting for current complexities and limitations. In this paper, we present our main idea and propose a stress detection computational algorithmic model that could be integrated into a Virtual Reality (VR) application to create an intelligent virtual audience for improving public speaking skills. The developed model, when integrated with VR, will be able to detect excessive stress in real time by analysing voice features correlated to physiological parameters indicative of stress and help users gradually control excessive stress and improve public speaking performance

'PeriHack': Designing a Serious Game for Cybersecurity Awareness

This paper describes the design process for the cybersecurity serious game 'PeriHack'. Publicly released under a CC (BY-NC-SA) license, PeriHack is a board and card game for two players or teams that simulates the struggle between a red team (attackers) and a blue team (defenders). The game requires players to explore a sample network looking for vulnerabilities and then chain different attacks to exploit possible weaknesses of different nature, which may include both technical and social engineering exploits. At the same time, it also simulates budget level constraints for the blue team by providing limited resources to evaluate and prioritize different critical vulnerabilities. The game is discussed via the lenses of the AGE and 6-11 Frameworks and was primarily designed as a learning tool for students in the cybersecurity and technology related fields.

Time-reversal-symmetry Breaking in the Superconducting State of ScS

We have studied the electronic properties of ScS, a transition-metal monochalcogenide with rocksalt crystal structure, using magnetization, specific heat, transport, and muon spin rotation/relaxation ($\mu$SR) measurements. All measurements confirm the bulk superconducting in ScS with a transition temperature of $T_{C}$ = 5.1(5) K. Specific heat together with transverse-field $\mu$SR measurements indicate a full gap, while our zero-field $\mu$SR study reveals the presence of spontaneous static or quasi-static magnetic fields emerging when entering the superconducting state. We discuss various possible microscopic origins of the observed time-reversal-symmetry breaking. As none of them can be readily reconciled with a conventional pairing mechanism, this introduces ScS as a novel candidate material for unconventional superconductivity.

Anisotropic superconductivity in ZrB$_{12}$ near critical Bogomolnyi point

The superconductors with the Ginzburg-Landau (G-L) parameter ($\kappa$) $\sim1/\sqrt{2}$ exist near a critical Bogolomonyi (B) point where they show inter-type domains between type-I and type-II superconductivity. While such physics is well understood for isotropic superconductors, the experimental investigation of the physics of anisotropic superconductors near a critical B-point remains an unattained goal mainly due to the unavailability of model material systems. Theoretically, such superconductors are expected to show type-I or type-II behaviour for definite directions of an applied magnetic field. Here, from directional point-contact Andreev reflection spectroscopy and field-angle dependent ac magnetic susceptibility measurements, we show that ZrB$_{12}$ is an anisotropic superconductor, and it exhibits field-direction dependent type-I and type-II behaviour. These observations match remarkably well with the theoretical expectations for an anisotropic superconductor near a critical B-point. Therefore, our results project ZrB$_{12}$ as a model material system where the physics of inter-type anisotropic superconductivity can be explored experimentally.

Boron based new high entropy alloy superconductor Mo0.11W0.11V0.11Re0.34B0.33

Superconducting high entropy alloys (HEAs) are new members of disordered superconductors. We report the synthesis and investigation of a new superconducting high entropy alloy Mo$_{0.11}$W$_{0.11}$V$_{0.11}$Re$_{0.34}$B$_{0.33}$ (MWVRB). It crystallized in the tetragonal CuAl$_2$ crystal structure with space group (I4/$mcm$). Comprehensive transport, magnetization and heat capacity measurements confirmed bulk type-II superconductivity having transition temperature T$_{C}$ = 4.0 K. The low temperature electronic specific heat suggests a fully gapped superconducting state in weak coupling limit.
