On the k-th Milnor and k-th Tjurina Numbers of a Foliation

In this paper, we introduce the notions of the $k$-th Milnor number and the $k$-th Tjurina number for a germ of holomorphic foliation on the complex plane with an isolated singularity at the origin. We develop a detailed study of these invariants, establishing explicit formulas and relating them to other indices associated with holomorphic foliations. In particular, we obtain an explicit expression for the $k$-th Milnor number of a foliation and, as a consequence, a formula for the $k$-th Milnor number of a holomorphic function. We analyze their topological behavior, proving that the $k$-th Milnor number of a holomorphic function is a topological invariant, whereas the $k$-th Tjurina number is not. In dimension two, we provide a positive answer to a conjecture posed by Hussain, Liu, Yau, and Zuo concerning a sharp lower bound for the $k$-th Tjurina number of a weighted homogeneous polynomial. We also present a counterexample to another conjecture of Hussain, Yau, and Zuo regarding the ratio between these invariants. Moreover, we establish a fundamental relation linking the $k$-th Tjurina numbers of a foliation and of an invariant curve via the Gómez-Mont--Seade--Verjovsky index, and we extend Teissier's Lemma to the setting of $k$-th polar intersection numbers. In addition, we derive an upper bound for the $k$-th Milnor number of a foliation in terms of its $k$-th Tjurina number along balanced divisors of separatrices. Finally, for non-dicritical quasi-homogeneous foliations, we obtain a closed formula for their $k$-th Milnor and Tjurina numbers.

On Milnor and Tjurina numbers of Pairs of Holomorphic Functions Germs

Motivated by the bifurcation formula for the Milnor number of pairs of holomorphic function germs, we introduce, via foliation theory, the Tjurina number of such pairs. We prove that this is an analytic invariant, derive an explicit formula for it, and establish several of its properties, including a bifurcation formula. As an application, we characterize semitame meromorphic function germs in terms of this invariant. We also investigate several properties of the Milnor number of a pair of holomorphic function germs. In particular, we establish a version of Teissier's Lemma for pairs, derive an upper bound for the Milnor number of a pair, and apply these results to generic pencils of algebraic curves.

On some indices of foliations and applications

In this paper we establish a relationship between the Milnor number, the $χ$-number, and the Tjurina number of a foliation with respect to an effective balanced divisor of separatrices. Moreover, using the Gómez-Mont--Seade--Verjovsky index, we prove that the difference between the multiplicity and the Tjurina number of a foliation with respect to a reduced curve is independent of the foliation. We also derive a local formula for the Tjurina number of a foliation with respect to a reduced curve. From a global point of view, these results lead to the following consequences: we provide a new proof of a global result regarding the multiplicity of a foliation due to Cerveau-Lins Neto and a new proof of a Soares's inequality for the sum of the Milnor number of an invariant curve of a foliation. Additionally, we obtain bounds for the global Tjurina number of a foliation on the complex projective plane. Finally, we provide an answer to the conjecture posed by Alcántara and Mozo-Fernández about foliations on the complex projective plane having a unique singularity.

A Morse-Bott normal form for real analytic Levi-flat hypersurfaces

We prove the existence of a normal form for a real-analytic Levi-flat hypersurface defined by the vanishing of the real part of a holomorphic function with a Morse-Bott singularity. As a consequence, we recover the Burns-Gong normal form for Levi-flat hypersurfaces with generic Morse singularities and provide a new normal form for a certain class of real analytic quadratic Levi-flat hypersurfaces.

Indices of holomorphic foliations and the bifurcation conjecture

In this paper, we revisit local invariants (Gómez-Mont-Seade-Verjovsky, variation, Camacho-Sad and Baum-Bott indices) associated with singular holomorphic foliations on $(\mathbb{C}^2 , 0)$ and we provide semi-global formulas for them in terms of the reduction of singularities of the foliation. A key technical ingredient is the Cholesky-type factorization of the intersection matrix of the exceptional divisor, which allows for an explicit control of multiplicities and indices along the resolution process. Using this factorization, we express the Milnor number and other indices as quadratic forms in intersection vectors associated to balanced divisors introduced by Y. Genzmer. As a main application, we address a conjecture posed by A. Szawlowski concerning pencils of plane holomorphic germs. We prove that the excess of Milnor numbers along the pencil is precisely captured by the invariants derived from our formulas, thereby confirming the conjecture in full generality. This also yields a new expression for the dimension of the parameter space of universal unfoldings of meromorphic functions in the sense of T. Suwa.

An upper bound for the GSV-index of a foliation

Let $\mathcal{F}$ be a holomorphic foliation at $p\in\mathbb{C}^2$, and $B$ be a separatrix of $\mathcal{F}$. We prove the following Dimca-Greuel type inequality $3μ_p(\mathcal{F},B)-4τ_p(\mathcal{F},B)+GSV_p(\mathcal{F},B)\leq 0$, where $μ_p(\mathcal{F},B)$ is the multiplicity of $\mathcal{F}$ along $B$, $τ_p(\mathcal{F},B)$ is the dimension of the quotient of $\mathbb{C}\{x,y\}$ by the ideal generated by the components of any $1$-form defining $\mathcal{F}$ and any equation of $B$, and $GSV_p(\mathcal{F},B)$ is the \textit{Gómez-Mont-Seade-Verjovsky index} of the foliation $\mathcal{F}$ with respect to $B$. As a consequence, we provide a new proof of the $\frac{4}{3}$-Dimca-Greuel conjecture for singularities of irreducible plane curve germs, with foliations ingredients, that differs from those given by Alberich-Carramiñana, Almirón, Blanco, Melle-Hernández and Genzmer-Hernandes, but it is in line with the idea developed by Wang.

On Milnor and Tjurina numbers of foliations

We study the relationship between the Milnor and Tjurina numbers of a singular foliation $\mathcal{F}$, in the complex plane, with respect to a balanced divisor of separatrices $\mathcal{B}$ for $\mathcal{F}$. For that, we associate with $\mathcal{F}$ a new number called the $χ$-number and we prove that it is a $C^{1}$ invariant for holomorphic foliations. We compute the polar excess number of $\mathcal{F}$ with respect to a balanced divisor of separatrices $\mathcal{B}$ for $\mathcal{F}$, via the Milnor number of the foliation, the multiplicity of some hamiltonian foliations along the separatrices in the support of $\mathcal{B}$ and the $χ$-number of $\mathcal{F}$. On the other hand, we generalize, in the plane case and the formal context, the well-known result of Gómez-Mont given in the holomorphic context, which establishes the equality between the GSV-index of the foliation and the difference between the Tjurina number of the foliation and the Tjurina number of a set of separatrices of $\mathcal{F}$. Finally, we state numerical relationships between some classic indices, as Baum-Bott, Camacho-Sad, and variational indices of a singular foliation and its Milnor and Tjurina numbers; and we obtain a bound for the sum of Milnor numbers of the local separatrices of a holomorphic foliation on the complex projective plane.

On a Mattei-Salem theorem

We investigate the relationship between the valuations of a germ of a singular foliation $\mathcal{F}$ on the complex plane and those of a balanced equation of separatrices for $\mathcal{F}$, extending a theorem by Mattei-Salem. Under certain conditions, we also derive inequalities involving the valuation, tangency excess, and degree of a holomorphic foliation $\mathcal{F}$ on the complex projective plane.

The Bruce-Roberts Tjurina number of holomorphic 1-forms along complex analytic varieties

We introduce the notion of the Bruce-Roberts Tjurina number for holomorphic 1-forms relative to a pair $(X,V)$ of complex analytic subvarieties. When the pair $(X,V)$ consists of isolated complex analytic hypersurfaces, we prove that the Bruce-Roberts Tjurina number is related to the Bruce-Roberts number, the Tjurina number of the 1-form with respect to $V$ and the Tjurina number of $X$, among other invariants. As an application, we present a quasihomogeneity result for germs of holomorphic foliations in complex dimension two.

The Bruce-Roberts number of holomorphic 1-forms along complex analytic varieties

We introduce the notion of the \textit{Bruce-Roberts number} for holomorphic 1-forms relative to complex analytic varieties. Our main result shows that the Bruce-Roberts number of a 1-form $ω$ with respect to a complex analytic hypersurface $X$ with an isolated singularity can be expressed in terms of the \textit{Ebeling--Gusein-Zade index} of $ω$ along $X$, the \textit{Milnor number} of $ω$ and the \textit{Tjurina number} of $X$. This result allows us to recover known formulas for the Bruce-Roberts number of a holomorphic function along $X$ and to establish connections between this number, the radial index, and the local Euler obstruction of $ω$ along $X$. Moreover, we present applications to both global and local holomorphic foliations in complex dimension two.

Holomorphic foliations tangent to Rolle-pfaffian hypersurfaces

In this paper we study germs of holomorphic foliations, at the origin of the complex plane, tangent to Pfaffian hypersurfaces - integral hypersurfaces of real analytic 1-forms - satisfying the Rolle-Khovanskii condition. This hypothesis leads us to conclude that such a foliation is defined by a closed meromorphic 1-form, also allowing the classification of the simple models in its reduction of singularities.

Holomorphic foliations of degree four on the complex projective space

In this paper, we study holomorphic foliations of degree four on complex projective space $\mathbb{P}^n$, where $n\geq 3$, with a special focus on obtaining a structural theorem for these foliations. Furthermore, for a foliation $\mathcal{F}$ of degree $d\geq 4$ with a sufficiently high $k^{th}$-jet, we prove that either $\mathcal{F}$ is transversely affine outside a compact hypersurface, or $\mathcal{F}$ is transversely projective outside a compact hypersurface, or $\mathcal{F}$ is the pull-back of a foliation on $\mathcal{F}^2$ by a rational map.

On Briançon-Skoda theorem for foliations

We generalize Mattei's result relative to the Briançon-Skoda theorem for foliations to the family of foliations of the second type. We use this generalization to establish relationships between the Milnor and Tjurina numbers of foliations of second type, inspired by the results obtained by Liu for complex hypersurfaces and we determine a lower bound for the global Tjurina number of an algebraic curve.

On the Milnor number of non-isolated singularities of holomorphic foliations and its topological invariance

We define the Milnor number -- as the intersection number of two holomorphic sections -- of a one-dimensional holomorphic foliation $\mathscr{F}$ with respect to a compact connected component $C$ of its singular set. Under certain conditions, we prove that the Milnor number of $\mathscr{F}$ on a three-dimensional manifold with respect to $C$ is invariant by $C^1$ topological equivalences.

Chow's theorem for real analytic Levi-flat hypersurfaces

In this article we provide a version of Chow's theorem for real analytic Levi-flat hypersurfaces in the complex projective space $\mathbb{P}^{n}$, $n \geq 2$. More specifically, we prove that a real analytic Levi-flat hypersurface $M \subset \mathbb{P}^{n}$, with singular set of real dimension at most $2n-4$ and whose Levi leaves are contained in algebraic hypersurfaces, is tangent to the levels of a rational function in $\mathbb{P}^{n}$. As a consequence, $M$ is a semialgebraic set. We also prove that a Levi foliation on $\mathbb{P}^{n}$ - a singular real analytic foliation whose leaves are immersed complex manifolds of codimension one - satisfying similar conditions - singular set of real dimension at most $2n-4$ and all leaves algebraic - is defined by the level sets of a rational function.

On real-analytic Levi-flat hypersurfaces and holomorphic webs

We investigate holomorphic webs tangent to real-analytic Levi-flat hypersurfaces on compact complex surfaces. Under certain conditions, we prove that a holomorphic web tangent to a real-analytic Levi-flat hypersurface admits a multiple-valued meromorphic first integral. We also prove that the Levi foliation of a Levi-flat hypersurface induced by an irreducible real-analytic curve in the Grassmannian $G(n+1,n)$ extends to an algebraic web on the complex projective space.

Pull-back of singular Levi-flat hypersurfaces

We study singular real analytic Levi-flat subsets invariant by singular holomorphic foliations in complex projective spaces. We give sufficient conditions for a real analytic Levi-flat subset to be the pull-back of a semianalytic Levi-flat hypersurface in a complex projective surface under a rational map or to be the pull-back of a real algebraic curve under a meromorphic function. In particular, we give an application to the case of a singular real analytic Levi-flat hypersurface. Our results improve previous ones due to Lebl and Bretas -- Fernández-Pérez -- Mol.

Lehmann-Suwa residues of codimension one holomorphic foliations and applications

Let $\mathcal{F}$ be a singular codimension one holomorphic foliation on a compact complex manifold $X$ of dimension at least three such that its singular set has codimension at least two. In this paper, we determine Lehmann-Suwa residues of $\mathcal{F}$ as multiples of complex numbers by integration currents along irreducible complex subvarieties of $X$. We then prove a formula that determines the Baum-Bott residue of simple almost Liouvillian foliations of codimension one, in terms of Lehmann-Suwa residues, generalizing a result of Marco Brunella. As an application, we give sufficient conditions for the existence of dicritical singularities of a singular real-analytic Levi-flat hypersurface $M\subset X$ tangent to $\mathcal{F}$.
