Fractionalized holes in one-dimensional $\mathbb{Z}_2$ gauge theory coupled to fermion matter -- deconfined dynamics and emergent integrability

We investigate the interplay of quantum one-dimensional discrete $\mathbb{Z}_2$ gauge fields and fermion matter near full filling in terms of deconfined fractionalized hole excitations that constitute mobile domain walls between vacua that break spontaneously translation symmetry. In the limit of strong string tension, we uncover emergent integrable correlated hopping dynamics of holes which is complementary to the constrained XXZ description in terms of bosonic dimers. We analyze numerically quantum dynamics of spreading of an isolated hole together with the associated time evolution of entanglement and provide analytical understanding of its salient features. We also study the model enriched with a short-range interaction and clarify the nature of the resulting ground state at low filling of holes and identify deconfined hole excitations near the hole filling $ν^h=1/3$.

Neutral pion mass in warm magnetized medium within Linear Sigma Model coupled to Quarks $\left(\text{LSM}_q\right)$ framework

We study the neutral pion mass in the presence of an external arbitrary magnetic field in the framework of the linear sigma model coupled to quark (LSMq) at finite temperature. In doing so, we have calculated the pion self-energy, constructed the dispersion equation via re-summation, and solved the dispersion relation at zero three momentum limit. In calculating the pion mass, we have included meson self-coupling's thermal and magnetic contribution and approximate chiral order parameter $v_0$. We report that the $π^0$ mass decreases with the magnetic field and increases with temperature.

Lepton pair production from a hot and dense QCD medium in the presence of an arbitrary magnetic field

In this article, we have explored the very important quantity of lepton pair production from a hot and dense QCD medium in presence of an arbitrary external magnetic field for simultaneous nonzero values of both the parallel (along the direction of the external field) and perpendicular (lying on the transverse plane to the external field) components of the dilepton momentum. As opposed to the zero magnetic field case (the so-called Born rate) or the lowest Landau level approximated rate, where only the annihilation process contributes, here we observe contributions also arising out of the quark and antiquark decay processes. We found the encouraging result of considerable enhancement of lepton pair production in presence of an arbitrary magnetic field. We decompose the total rate into different physical processes and discuss their behaviors for both zero and nonzero baryon density. The whole analysis is then subjected to an effective model treatment, where we have incorporated the magnetic field induced novel effects of magnetic catalysis (MC) and inverse MC (IMC) through a medium dependent scalar coupling, which leads to some further interesting observations.

Blindly Factorizing 21 Quantumly

We develop a classically verifiable scheme for blindly factorizing the semiprime 21 quantumly for a classical client who does not trust the remote quantum servers. Our scheme advances state of the art, which achieves blind factorization of 15 quantumly, by increasing the problem to factorizing the next semiprime, choosing a harder base, executing a non-Clifford gate, and showing that the security check for 15 also works for 21. Our algorithmic approach to incorporating non-Clifford operations sets the stage for scaling blind quantum factorization, whereas our five-EPR-pair scheme motivates a photonic experiment that supplants current demonstrations of blind factorization.

Dynamics of QCD Matter -- current status

In this article, there are 18 sections discussing various current topics in the field of relativistic heavy-ion collisions and related phenomena, which will serve as a snapshot of the current state of the art. Section 1 reviews experimental results of some recent light-flavored particle production data from ALICE collaboration. Other sections are mostly theoretical in nature. Very strong but transient magnetic field created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions could have important observational consequences. This has generated a lot of theoretical activity in the last decade. Sections 2, 7, 9, 10 and 11 deal with the effects of the magnetic field on the properties of the QCD matter. There are several unanswered questions about the QCD phase diagram. Sections 3, 11 and 18 discuss various aspects of the QCD phase diagram and phase transitions. Recent years have witnessed interesting developments in foundational aspects of hydrodynamics and their application to heavy-ion collisions. Sections 12, 15, 16 and 17 of this article probe some aspects of this exciting field. Transport coefficients together with their temperature- and density-dependence, are essential inputs in hydrodynamical calculations. Sections 5, 8 and 14 deal with calculation/estimation of various transport coefficients (shear and bulk viscosity, thermal conductivity, relaxation times, etc.) of quark matter and hadronic matter. Sections 4, 6 and 13 deals with interesting new developments in the field. Section 4 discusses color dipole gluon distribution function at small transverse momentum in the form of a series of Bells polynomials. Section 6 discusses the properties of Higgs boson in the quark gluon plasma using Higgs-quark interaction. Section 13 discusses modification of coalescence model to incorporate viscous corrections and application of this model.

An India-specific Compartmental Model for Covid-19: Projections and Intervention Strategies by Incorporating Geographical, Infrastructural and Response Heterogeneity

We present a compartmental meta-population model for the spread of Covid-19 in India. Our model simulates populations at a district or state level using an epidemiological model that is appropriate to Covid-19. Different districts are connected by a transportation matrix developed using available census data. We introduce uncertainties in the testing rates into the model that takes into account the disparate responses of the different states to the epidemic and also factors in the state of the public healthcare system. Our model allows us to generate qualitative projections of Covid-19 spread in India, and further allows us to investigate the effects of different proposed interventions. By building in heterogeneity at geographical and infrastructural levels and in local responses, our model aims to capture some of the complexity of epidemiological modeling appropriate to a diverse country such as India.

Transition to Turbulence in Driven Active Matter

A Lorenz-like model was set up recently, to study the hydrodynamic instabilities in a driven active matter system. This Lorenz model differs from the standard one in that all three equations contain non-linear terms. The additional non-linear term comes from the active matter contribution to the stress tensor. In this work, we investigate the non-linear properties of this Lorenz model both analytically and numerically. The significant feature of the model is the passage to chaos through a complete set of period-doubling bifurcations above the Hopf point for inverse Schmidt numbers above a critical value. Interestingly enough, at these Schmidt numbers a strange attractor and stable fixed points coexist beyond the homoclinic point. At the Hopf point, the strange attractor disappears leaving a high-period periodic orbit. This periodic state becomes the expected limit cycle through a set of bifurcations and then undergoes a sequence of period-doubling bifurcations leading to the formation of a strange attractor. This is the first situation where a Lorenz-like model has shown a set of consecutive period-doubling bifurcations in a physically relevant transition to turbulence.

Saha ionization equation in early universe

The Saha equation follows from thermal equilibrium of matter and radiation. We discuss this problem of equilibrium in the early universe, when matter consists mostly of electrons, protons and hydrogen atoms. Taking H-atoms in their ground state only and applying the real time formulation of thermal field theory, we calculate the difference of ionization and recombination rates, which controls the equilibration of H-atoms. This rate is compared with the expansion rate of the universe at different temperatures.

Hard dilepton production from a weakly magnetized hot QCD medium

We have computed the hard dilepton production rate from a weakly magnetized deconfined QCD medium within one-loop photon self-energy by considering one hard and one thermomagnetic resummed quark propagator in the loop. In the presence of the magnetic field, the resummed propagator leads to four quasiparticle modes. The production of hard dileptons consists of rates when all four quasiquarks originating from the poles of the propagator individually annihilate with a hard quark coming from a bare propagator in the loop. Besides these, there are also contributions from a mixture of pole and Landau cut part. In weak field approximation, the magnetic field appears as a perturbative correction to the thermal contribution. Since the calculation is very involved, for a first effort as well as for simplicity, we obtained the rate up to first order in the magnetic field, i.e., ${\cal O}[(eB)]$, which causes a marginal improvement over that in the absence of magnetic field.

Social Advantage with Mixed Entangled States

It has been extensively shown in past literature that Bayesian Game Theory and Quantum Non-locality have strong ties between them. Pure Entangled States have been used, in both common and conflict interest games, to gain advantageous payoffs, both at the individual and social level. In this paper we construct a game for a Mixed Entangled State such that this state gives higher payoffs than classically possible, both at the individual level and the social level. Also, we use the I-3322 inequality so that states that aren't helpful as advice for Bell-CHSH inequality can also be used. Finally, the measurement setting we use is a Restricted Social Welfare Strategy (given this particular state).

Combining Multi-level Contexts of Superpixel using Convolutional Neural Networks to perform Natural Scene Labeling

Modern deep learning algorithms have triggered various image segmentation approaches. However most of them deal with pixel based segmentation. However, superpixels provide a certain degree of contextual information while reducing computation cost. In our approach, we have performed superpixel level semantic segmentation considering 3 various levels as neighbours for semantic contexts. Furthermore, we have enlisted a number of ensemble approaches like max-voting and weighted-average. We have also used the Dempster-Shafer theory of uncertainty to analyze confusion among various classes. Our method has proved to be superior to a number of different modern approaches on the same dataset.

General structure of fermion two-point function and its spectral representation in a hot magnetised medium

We have systematically constructed the general structure of the fermion self-energy and the effective quark propagator in presence of a nontrivial background like hot magnetised medium. This is applicable to both QED and QCD. The hard thermal loop approximation has been used for the heat bath. We have also examined transformation properties of the effective fermion propagator under some of the discrete symmetries of the system. Using the effective fermion propagator we have analysed the fermion dispersion spectra in a hot magnetised medium along with the spinor for each fermion mode obtained by solving the modified Dirac equation. The fermion spectra is found to reflect the discrete symmetries of the two-point functions. We note that for a chirally symmetric theory the degenerate left and right handed chiral modes in vacuum or in a heat bath get separated and become asymmetric in presence of magnetic field without disturbing the chiral invariance. The obtained general structure of the two-point functions is verified by computing the three-point function, which agrees with the existing results in one-loop order. Finally, we have computed explicitly the spectral representation of the two-point functions which would be very important to study the spectral properties of the hot magnetised medium corresponding to QED and QCD with background magnetic field.
