On the singularity formation of gauge fields coupled to Ricci flow

We study a family of coupled geometric evolution equations describing the deformation of a Riemannian metric and a non-abelian gauge field on closed manifolds, which generalizes the Ricci--Yang--Mills flow. We derive interior curvature estimates, find a preserved integral curvature condition, and discover a scaling invariant monotone functional analogue to Perelman's entropy. In particular, we prove strong dominance of the Riemannian curvature over the gauge curvature at finite-time singularities in all dimensions. We also provide a non-trivial explicit example of a shrinking self-similar solution on a $SU(2)$ bundle over $S^4$.

Regularity of conformal structures on closed 3-manifolds

It is well known in Riemannian geometry that the metric components have the best regularity in harmonic coordinates. These can be used to characterize the most regular element in the isometry class of a rough Riemannian metric. In this work, we study the conformal analogue problem on closed 3-manifolds: given a Riemannian metric $g$ of class $W^{2,q}$ with $q > 3$, we characterize when a more regular representative exists in its conformal class. We highlight a deep link to the Yamabe problem for rough metrics and present some immediate applications to conformally flat, static and Einstein manifolds.

Conformal Green functions and Yamabe metrics of Sobolev regularity

We provide a full resolution of the Yamabe problem on closed 3-manifolds for Riemannian metrics of Sobolev class $W^{2,q}$ with $q > 3$. This requires developing an elliptic theory for the conformal Laplacian for rough metrics and establishing existence, regularity and a delicate blow-up analysis for its Green function. Most of the analytical work is carried out in dimensions $n \geq 3$ and for $W^{2,q}$ Riemannian metrics with $q>\tfrac{n}{2}$ and should be of independent interest.

Ancient solutions of Ricci flow with Type I curvature growth

Ancient solutions of the Ricci flow arise naturally as models for singularity formation. There has been significant progress towards the classification of such solutions under natural geometric assumptions. Nonnegatively curved solutions in dimensions 2 and 3, and uniformly PIC solutions in higher dimensions are now well understood. We consider ancient solutions of arbitrary dimension which are complete and have Type~I curvature growth. We show that a $κ$-noncollapsed Type~I ancient solution which is noncompact and has nonnegative sectional curvature necessarily splits at least one Euclidean factor. It follows that a $κ$-noncollapsed Type~I ancient solution which is weakly PIC2 is a locally symmetric space.
