Defending Against Adversarial Machine Learning

An Adversarial System to attack and an Authorship Attribution System (AAS) to defend itself against the attacks are analyzed. Defending a system against attacks from an adversarial machine learner can be done by randomly switching between models for the system, by detecting and reacting to changes in the distribution of normal inputs, or by using other methods. Adversarial machine learning is used to identify a system that is being used to map system inputs to outputs. Three types of machine learners are using for the model that is being attacked. The machine learners that are used to model the system being attacked are a Radial Basis Function Support Vector Machine, a Linear Support Vector Machine, and a Feedforward Neural Network. The feature masks are evolved using accuracy as the fitness measure. The system defends itself against adversarial machine learning attacks by identifying inputs that do not match the probability distribution of normal inputs. The system also defends itself against adversarial attacks by randomly switching between the feature masks being used to map system inputs to outputs.

Particle Swarm and EDAs

The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is developed for solving the Schaffer F6 function in fewer than 4000 function evaluations on a total of 30 runs. Four variations of the Full Model of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithms are presented which consist of combinations of Ring and Star topologies with Synchronous and Asynchronous updates. The Full Model with combinations of Ring and Star topologies in combination with Synchronous and Asynchronous Particle Updates is explored.

General Regression Neural Networks, Radial Basis Function Neural Networks, Support Vector Machines, and Feedforward Neural Networks

The aim of this project is to develop a code to discover the optimal sigma value that maximum the F1 score and the optimal sigma value that maximizes the accuracy and to find out if they are the same. Four algorithms which can be used to solve this problem are: Genetic Regression Neural Networks (GRNNs), Radial Based Function (RBF) Neural Networks (RBFNNs), Support Vector Machines (SVMs) and Feedforward Neural Network (FFNNs).

Variations of Genetic Algorithms

The goal of this project is to develop the Genetic Algorithms (GA) for solving the Schaffer F6 function in fewer than 4000 function evaluations on a total of 30 runs. Four types of Genetic Algorithms (GA) are presented - Generational GA (GGA), Steady-State (mu+1)-GA (SSGA), Steady-Generational (mu,mu)-GA (SGGA), and (mu+mu)-GA.
