Regularity of rooftop envelopes

We study continuity, H\"older regularity, and $C^{1,1}$-regularity of geodesics between continuous plurisubharmonic functions on bounded domains of $\mathbb{C}^n$. We then derive regularity properties of rooftop envelopes.

Log canonical thresholds at infinity

The paper considers a global version of the notion of log canonical threshold for plurisubharmonic functions $u$ of logarithmic growth in $\mathbb{C}^n$, aiming at description of the range of all $p>0$ such that $e^{-u}\in L^p(\mathbb{C}^n)$. Explicit formulas are obtained in the toric case. By considering Bergman functions of corresponding weighted Hilbert spaces, a new polynomial approximation of plurisubharmonic functions of logarithmic growth with control over its singularities and behavior at infinity (a global version of Demailly's approximation theorem) is established. Some application to tame polynomial maps are given.

Kiselman Minimum Principle and Rooftop Envelopes in Complex Hessian Equations

We initiate the study of $m$-subharmonic functions with respect to a semipositive $(1,1)$-form in Euclidean domains, providing a significant element in understanding geodesics within the context of complex Hessian equations. Based on the foundational Perron envelope construction, we prove a decomposition of $m$-subharmonic solutions, and a general comparison principle that effectively manages singular Hessian measures. Additionally, we establish a rooftop equality and an analogue of the Kiselman minimum principle, which are crucial ingredients in establishing a criterion for geodesic connectivity among $m$-subharmonic functions, expressed in terms of their asymptotic envelopes.

Geodesic connectivity and rooftop envelopes in the Cegrell classes

This study examines geodesics and plurisubharmonic envelopes within the Cegrell classes on bounded hyperconvex domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$. We establish that solutions possessing comparable singularities to the complex Monge-Amp\`ere equation are identical, affirmatively addressing a longstanding open question raised by Cegrell. This achievement furnishes the most general form of the Bedford-Taylor comparison principle within the Cegrell classes. Building on this foundational result, we explore plurisubharmonic geodesics, broadening the criteria for geodesic connectivity among plurisubharmonic functions with connectable boundary values. Our investigation also delves into the notion of rooftop envelopes, revealing that the rooftop equality condition and the idempotency conjecture are valid under substantially weaker conditions than previously established, a finding made possible by our proven uniqueness result. The paper concludes by discussing the core open problems within the Cegrell classes related to the complex Monge-Amp\`ere equation.

Rooftop envelopes and residual plurisubharmonic functions

Given a negative plurisubharmonic function $\phi$ in a bounded pseudoconvex domain of ${\mathbb C}^n$, we introduce and study its residual function $g_\phi$ determined by the asymptotic behavior of $\phi$ near its singularity points, both inside the domain and on its boundary. For certain choices of $\phi$, the function $g_\phi$ coincides with different versions of pluricomplex Green functions. The considerations are motivated by a problem on when two given plurisubharmonic functions can be connected by a plurisubharmonic geodesic.

Asymptotic multiplicities and Monge-Amp\`ere masses (with an appendix by S\'ebastien Boucksom)

Ein, Lazarsfeld and Smith asked whether `equality' holds between two Samuel type asymptotic multiplicities for a graded system of zero-dimensional ideals on a smooth complex variety. We find a connection of this question to complex analysis by showing that the `equality' is equivalent to a particular case of Demailly's strong continuity property on the convergence of residual Monge-Amp\`ere masses under approximation of plurisubharmonic functions. On the other hand, in an appendix of this paper, S\'ebastien Boucksom gives an algebraic proof of the `equality' in general, using the intersection theory of b-divisors. We then use these to show that Demailly's strong continuity holds for a new important class of plurisubharmonic functions.

On 2-dimensional mobile sampling

Necessary and sufficient conditions are presented for several families of planar curves to form a set of stable sampling for the Bernstein space $\mathcal{B}_{\Omega}$ over a convex set $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^2$. These conditions "essentially" describe the mobile sampling property of these families for the Paley-Wiener spaces $\mathcal{PW}^p_{\Omega},1\leq p<\infty$.

Interpolation of weighted extremal functions

An approach to complex interpolation of compact subsets of $\Bbb C^n$, including Brunn-Minkowski type inequalities for the capacities of the interpolating sets, was developed recently by means of plurisubharmonic geodesics between relative extremal functions of the given sets. Here we show that a much better control can be achieved by means of the geodesics between weighted relative extremal functions. In particular, we establish convexity properties of the capacities that are stronger than those given by the Brunn-Minkowski inequalities.

Plurisubharmonic geodesics and interpolating sets

We apply a notion of geodesics of plurisubharmonic functions to interpolation of compact subsets of $C^n$. Namely, two non-pluripolar, polynomially closed, compact subsets of $C^n$ are interpolated as level sets $L_t=\{z: u_t(z)=-1\}$ for the geodesic $u_t$ between their relative extremal functions with respect to any ambient bounded domain. The sets $L_t$ are described in terms of certain holomorphic hulls. In the toric case, it is shown that the relative Monge-Amp\`ere capacities of $L_t$ satisfy a dual Brunn-Minkowski inequality.

Higher Lelong numbers and convex geometry

We prove the reversed Alexandrov-Fenchel inequality for mixed Monge-Amp\`ere masses of plurisubharmonic functions, which generalizes a result of Demailly and Pham. As applications to convex geometry, this gives a complex analytic proof of the reversed Alexandrov-Fenchel inequality for mixed covolumes, which generalizes recent results in convex geometry of Kaveh-Khovanskii, Khovanskii-Timorin, Milman-Rotem and R. Schneider on reversed (or complemented) Brunn-Minkowski and Alexandrov-Fenchel inequalities. Also for toric plurisubharmonic functions in the Cegrell class, we confirm Demailly's conjecture on the convergence of higher Lelong numbers under the canonical approximation.

A remark on symbolic powers

By an easy application of Skoda's theorem on ideal generation, a non-local version of the Briancon-Skoda theorem is obtained. In particular, the symbolic powers $I^{(p)}$ of a zero dimensional radical ideal $I$ generated by $r$ holomorphic functions on an $n$-dimensional Stein manifold are shown to satisfy $I^{(p+q)}\subset I^p$ for $q=\min\{n,r-1\}$ and all natural $p$, which contributes to the so-called containment problem.

Copolar convexity

We introduce a new operation, copolar addition, on unbounded convex subsets of the positive orthant of real euclidean space and establish convexity of the covolumes of the corresponding convex combinations. The proof is based on a technique of geodesics of plurisubharmonic functions. As an application, we show that there are no relative extremal functions inside a non-constant geodesic curve between two toric relative extremal functions.

Zero Lelong number problem

We discuss several related problems on residual Monge-Amp\`ere masses of plurisubharmonic functions. The note is based on the author's talk at the 27th Congress of Nordic Mathematicians, March 19, 2016.

Local geodesics for plurisubharmonic functions

We study geodesics for plurisubharmonic functions from the Cegrell class ${\mathcal F}_1$ on a bounded hyperconvex domain of ${\mathbb C}^n$ and show that, as in the case of metrics on K\"{a}hler compact menifolds, they linearize an energy functional. As a consequence, we get a uniqueness theorem for functions from ${\mathcal F}_1$ in terms of total masses of certain mixed Monge-Amp\`ere currents. Geodesics of relative extremal functions are considered and a reverse Brunn-Minkowski inequality is proved for capacities of multiplicative combinations of multi-circled compact sets. We also show that functions with strong singularities generally cannot be connected by (sub)geodesic arks.

A log canonical threshold test

In terms of log canonical threshold, we characterize plurisubharmonic functions with logarithmic asymptotical behaviour.

Extremal cases for the log canonical threshold

We show that a recent result of Demailly and Pham Hoang Hiep \cite{DH} implies a description of plurisubharmonic functions with given Monge-Amp\`ere mass and smallest possible log canonical threshold. We also study an equality case for the inequality from \cite{DH}.

Powers of ideals and convergence of Green functions with colliding poles

Let us have a family of ideals of holomorphic functions vanishing at N distinct points of a complex manifold, all tending to a single point. As is known, convergence of the ideals does not guarantee the convergence of the pluricomplex Green functions to the Green function of the limit ideal; moreover, the existence of the limit of the Green functions was unclear. Assuming that all the powers of the ideals converge to some ideals, we prove that the Green functions converge, locally uniformly away from the limit pole, to a function which is essentially the upper envelope of the scaled Green functions of the limits of the powers. As examples, we consider ideals generated by hyperplane sections of a holomorphic curve near its singular point. In particular, our result explains recently obtained asymptotics for 3-point models.
