When Depth Hurts: Reliability-Aware Geometry Distillation for Depth-Free RGB-D Salient Object Detection

Depth can resolve appearance ambiguity in RGB-D salient object detection (SOD), yet sensor depth is not uniformly reliable. Missing regions, blurred boundaries, and structural artifacts can propagate through multimodal fusion and make an RGB-D detector less accurate than its RGB-only counterpart. Existing quality-aware approaches regulate observed depth but remain dependent on the same potentially defective modality. We propose \method, a reliability-aware geometry distillation framework developed for RGB-D SOD benchmarks without using dataset-provided depth during training or inference. A frozen Depth Anything V2 model serves only as a training-time teacher, transferring dense relative geometry, hierarchical spatial attention, and boundary structure to a compact edge-aware geometry branch. Pooled bidirectional interaction aligns geometry with appearance, and a pixel-wise reliability estimator selectively injects geometry that is compatible with the current RGB representation. The teacher is removed after training, leaving an RGB-only inference network. Trained on 2,985 RGB-mask pairs, \method{} achieves the best or tied-best result in 26 of 36 metric-dataset comparisons against ten recent RGB-D SOD methods, including a 13.4\% relative MAE reduction on ReDWeb-S. When retrained on DUTS-TR, it also improves the strongest prior $F$-measure by 4.2\% on PASCAL-S, showing that the distilled geometry transfers beyond a particular sensor or dataset domain. Code will be released upon publication.

VoxStruct3D: Structure-Leading Flow Matching for Voxel-Space 3D MRI Synthesis

High-fidelity 3D MRI synthesis requires both globally coherent anatomy and fine-grained voxel-level detail. Although latent diffusion makes volumetric generation tractable, its image autoencoder introduces a reconstruction bottleneck that can limit the fine detail recoverable in the final volume. We present VoxStruct3D, a voxel-space flow-matching framework that directly models full-resolution MRI volumes using a clean-data prediction objective. Its Volumetric Voxel Generator (VVG) combines factorized 3D patch embedding with overlapping upsampling, time-modulated residual refinement, and skip fusion, enabling neighboring tokens to jointly reconstruct shared voxel regions and suppress patch-boundary artifacts. To complement direct voxel-space modeling with an explicit anatomical prior, we further introduce a Structure-First, Image-Follows (SFIF) strategy. A frozen pretrained 3D medical encoder and a StructVAE extract compact structure tokens that preserve dominant anatomy, while a structure-leading schedule keeps their trajectory ahead of the image trajectory. Patch-Aligned RoPE spatially aligns the unequal token grids, and asymmetric attention enforces one-way guidance from structure to image. Experiments on pathological and healthy T1-weighted brain MRI datasets show that VoxStruct3D achieves the strongest overall performance across feature-distribution alignment, sample diversity, and perceptual quality, producing anatomically coherent and visually realistic volumes.

TRCoRSurg: Temporal-Relational Co-Reasoning for Surgical Video Triplet Recognition

Understanding complex surgical scenes requires recognizing multiple interdependent entities, such as instruments, actions, and targets, while maintaining their relational consistency across time. Existing surgical triplet recognition methods struggle to jointly model intra-frame label dependencies and inter-frame temporal semantics in a unified manner. To address these limitations, we propose a unified framework that integrates spatial, relational, and temporal cues for robust surgical triplet recognition. Specifically, class-specific spatial priors are first extracted through a multi-scale encoder. These priors are then refined by a Label Correlation Modeling module with multi-scale class activation map-guided relational extraction (MS-CAMRE), enabling the model to capture both static co-occurrence patterns and dynamic contextual dependencies among triplet components. Furthermore, a Bidirectional Temporal-Relational Fusion Attention (BTRFA) module harmonizes temporal and relational representations to achieve coherent temporal reasoning. We also introduce a new evaluation metric, the Triplet Consistency Error Rate (TCER), which quantitatively measures the model's ability to preserve causal and semantic consistency across triplets. Extensive experiments on the CholecT45 and ProstaTD datasets show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance, improving AP_IVT by 5.1 percent and 7.8 percent, respectively. Moreover, according to TCER, our approach achieves relative reductions of more than 36 percent and 25 percent on the two datasets, respectively, demonstrating the effectiveness of our framework in temporal-relational co-reasoning.

QuerySplat: Decoupling Geometry and Appearance Representations in 3DGS Prediction

While feed-forward 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) enables efficient 3D reconstruction, achieving high-fidelity rendering remains challenging. Existing pixel-aligned approaches suffer from spatial inflexibility and massive structural redundancy, whereas query-based methods lack 3D priors and entangle geometry with appearance, yielding blurry, pose-dependent results. To overcome these deficiencies, we propose \textbf{QuerySplat}, a feed-forward 3DGS framework driven by geometric priors and explicit appearance decoupling. Specifically, we design a dual-branch query-based decoder: the geometry branch leverages a pretrained Vision Geometric Model for spatial understanding, which intrinsically endows QuerySplat with pose-free modeling capabilities, while the appearance branch recovers high-frequency details through a dedicated pathway separated from geometric attribute regression. Extensive experiments demonstrate that QuerySplat mitigates the blurry rendering issues of early query-based models and consistently outperforms pixel-aligned approaches in rendering fidelity. On the challenging DL3DV benchmark, it achieves state-of-the-art novel view synthesis performance, with average PSNR gains of 2.30 dB and 1.04 dB over the best pose-free and pose-required baselines, respectively. Evolving Intelligent Complex Systems via Intellicise Networks: Architecture, Technologies, and Pathways

Future engineering infrastructures are evolving into large-scale, open, heterogeneous, and wirelessly interconnected complex systems. These systems present significant challenges in optimizing network resource utilization, managing high-dimensional information spaces, and accommodating diverse business requirements. Intellicise networks, characterized by Intent-driven operation, semantic-native capability, and distributed intelligence, offer a promising paradigm for enabling such intelligent complex systems. We provide a systematic exploration of future intelligent complex systems from the perspective of intellicise networks. Specifically, we propose a cross-domain intelligent communication network architecture based on intellicise networks, grounded in information theory, systems theory, game theory, and cybernetics. The architecture comprises a cross-layer organizational framework, multi-functional planes, and novel information flows. The cross-layer framework defines the vertical evolution from perception and cognition to decision, while the control, user, data, computation, intelligence, and security planes deliver horizontal intellicise capabilities. Moreover, data, knowledge, model, and task flows interconnect the various layers and planes, forming a closed-loop process that derives simplicity from high-level intelligene while concurrently pursuing enhanced. Building on this architecture, we review key enabling technologies, tracing their evolution from semantic extraction to intent understanding, from heterogeneous resource integration to self-configuration and self-optimization, from generative artificial intelligence (AI) to agentic AI, and from embodied AI to symbodied AI. Additionally, we present a case study on intellicise networks for embodied agent communications and discuss representative applications and services for intelligent complex systems.

HiReFF: High-Resolution Feedforward Human Reconstruction from Uncalibrated Sparse-View Video

Uncalibrated volumetric video streaming for human reconstruction is essential for holographic communication and AR/VR, yet remains challenging due to the need for temporal consistency and computational efficiency from sparse-view inputs. Existing methods rely on per-scene optimization or calibrated cameras, while recent feed-forward models are limited to low-resolution (0.5K) single-frame synthesis. We present HiReFF, a feed-forward method for 2K-resolution 360° human video reconstruction from uncalibrated sparse-view videos. Our framework decomposes the problem into two key tasks: foreground 3D Gaussian reconstruction from sparse-view videos (four views separated by 90°) and computationally efficient high-resolution synthesis. To enable the former, we propose Scale-synchronized Camera Calibration to resolve scale ambiguity for multi-view supervision, and Gaussian-wise Foreground Masking to reconstruct clean foregrounds by modulating Gaussian parameters. For efficient high-resolution synthesis, our High-resolution Side-tuning achieves 2K rendering by augmenting the Gaussian head with supplementary features while keeping the backbone at 0.5K, drastically reducing computational overhead. Experiments demonstrate that HiReFF significantly outperforms existing methods in high-resolution streaming volumetric video reconstruction. https://iridescentjiang.github.io/HiReFF

PC-NCLaws: Physics-Embedded Conditional Neural Constitutive Laws for Elastoplastic Materials

While data-driven methods offer significant promise for modeling complex materials, they often face challenges in generalizing across diverse physical scenarios and maintaining physical consistency. To address these limitations, we propose a generalizable framework called Physics-Embedded Conditional Neural Constitutive Laws for Elastoplastic Materials, which combines the partial differential equations with neural networks. Specifically, the model employs two separate neural networks to model elastic and plastic constitutive laws. Simultaneously, the model incorporates physical parameters as conditional inputs and is trained on comprehensive datasets encompassing multiple scenarios with varying physical parameters, thereby enabling generalization across different properties without requiring retraining for each individual case. Furthermore, the differentiable architecture of our model, combined with its explicit parameter inputs, enables the inverse estimation of physical parameters from observed motion sequences. This capability extends our framework to objects with unknown or unmeasured properties. Experimental results demonstrate state-of-the-art performance in motion reconstruction, robust long-term prediction, geometry generalization, and precise parameters estimation for elastoplastic materials, highlighting its versatility as a unified simulator and inverse analysis tool.

MGPBD: A Multigrid Accelerated Global XPBD Solver

We introduce a novel Unsmoothed Aggregation (UA) Algebraic Multigrid (AMG) method combined with Preconditioned Conjugate Gradient (PCG) to overcome the limitations of Extended Position-Based Dynamics (XPBD) in high-resolution and high-stiffness simulations. While XPBD excels in simulating deformable objects due to its speed and simplicity, its nonlinear Gauss-Seidel (GS) solver often struggles with low-frequency errors, leading to instability and stalling issues, especially in high-resolution, high-stiffness simulations. Our multigrid approach addresses these issues efficiently by leveraging AMG. To reduce the computational overhead of traditional AMG, where prolongator construction can consume up to two-thirds of the runtime, we propose a lazy setup strategy that reuses prolongators across iterations based on matrix structure and physical significance. Furthermore, we introduce a simplified method for constructing near-kernel components by applying a few sweeps of iterative methods to the homogeneous equation, achieving convergence rates comparable to adaptive smoothed aggregation (adaptive-SA) at a lower computational cost. Experimental results demonstrate that our method significantly improves convergence rates and numerical stability, enabling efficient and stable high-resolution simulations of deformable objects.

3D Dental Model Segmentation with Geometrical Boundary Preserving

3D intraoral scan mesh is widely used in digital dentistry diagnosis, segmenting 3D intraoral scan mesh is a critical preliminary task. Numerous approaches have been devised for precise tooth segmentation. Currently, the deep learning-based methods are capable of the high accuracy segmentation of crown. However, the segmentation accuracy at the junction between the crown and the gum is still below average. Existing down-sampling methods are unable to effectively preserve the geometric details at the junction. To address these problems, we propose CrossTooth, a boundary-preserving segmentation method that combines 3D mesh selective downsampling to retain more vertices at the tooth-gingiva area, along with cross-modal discriminative boundary features extracted from multi-view rendered images, enhancing the geometric representation of the segmentation network. Using a point network as a backbone and incorporating image complementary features, CrossTooth significantly improves segmentation accuracy, as demonstrated by experiments on a public intraoral scan dataset.

FaceCom: Towards High-fidelity 3D Facial Shape Completion via Optimization and Inpainting Guidance

We propose FaceCom, a method for 3D facial shape completion, which delivers high-fidelity results for incomplete facial inputs of arbitrary forms. Unlike end-to-end shape completion methods based on point clouds or voxels, our approach relies on a mesh-based generative network that is easy to optimize, enabling it to handle shape completion for irregular facial scans. We first train a shape generator on a mixed 3D facial dataset containing 2405 identities. Based on the incomplete facial input, we fit complete faces using an optimization approach under image inpainting guidance. The completion results are refined through a post-processing step. FaceCom demonstrates the ability to effectively and naturally complete facial scan data with varying missing regions and degrees of missing areas. Our method can be used in medical prosthetic fabrication and the registration of deficient scanning data. Our experimental results demonstrate that FaceCom achieves exceptional performance in fitting and shape completion tasks. The code is available at https://github.com/dragonylee/FaceCom.git.

Colorectal polyp segmentation (CPS), an essential problem in medical image analysis, has garnered growing research attention. Recently, the deep learning-based model completely overwhelmed traditional methods in the field of CPS, and more and more deep CPS methods have emerged, bringing the CPS into the deep learning era. To help the researchers quickly grasp the main techniques, datasets, evaluation metrics, challenges, and trending of deep CPS, this paper presents a systematic and comprehensive review of deep-learning-based CPS methods from 2014 to 2023, a total of 115 technical papers. In particular, we first provide a comprehensive review of the current deep CPS with a novel taxonomy, including network architectures, level of supervision, and learning paradigm. More specifically, network architectures include eight subcategories, the level of supervision comprises six subcategories, and the learning paradigm encompasses 12 subcategories, totaling 26 subcategories. Then, we provided a comprehensive analysis the characteristics of each dataset, including the number of datasets, annotation types, image resolution, polyp size, contrast values, and polyp location. Following that, we summarized CPS's commonly used evaluation metrics and conducted a detailed analysis of 40 deep SOTA models, including out-of-distribution generalization and attribute-based performance analysis. Finally, we discussed deep learning-based CPS methods' main challenges and opportunities.

A Unified Particle-Based Solver for Non-Newtonian Behaviors Simulation

In this paper, we present a unified framework to simulate non-Newtonian behaviors. We combine viscous and elasto-plastic stress into a unified particle solver to achieve various non-Newtonian behaviors ranging from fluid-like to solid-like. Our constitutive model is based on a Generalized Maxwell model, which incorporates viscosity, elasticity and plasticity in one non-linear framework by a unified way. On the one hand, taking advantage of the viscous term, we construct a series of strain-rate dependent models for classical non-Newtonian behaviors such as shear-thickening, shear-thinning, Bingham plastic, etc. On the other hand, benefiting from the elasto-plastic model, we empower our framework with the ability to simulate solid-like non-Newtonian behaviors, i.e., visco-elasticity/plasticity. In addition, we enrich our method with a heat diffusion model to make our method flexible in simulating phase change. Through sufficient experiments, we demonstrate a wide range of non-Newtonian behaviors ranging from viscous fluid to deformable objects. We believe this non-Newtonian model will enhance the realism of physically-based animation, which has great potential for computer graphics.

WinDB: HMD-free and Distortion-free Panoptic Video Fixation Learning

To date, the widely adopted way to perform fixation collection in panoptic video is based on a head-mounted display (HMD), where users' fixations are collected while wearing an HMD to explore the given panoptic scene freely. However, this widely-used data collection method is insufficient for training deep models to accurately predict which regions in a given panoptic are most important when it contains intermittent salient events. The main reason is that there always exist "blind zooms" when using HMD to collect fixations since the users cannot keep spinning their heads to explore the entire panoptic scene all the time. Consequently, the collected fixations tend to be trapped in some local views, leaving the remaining areas to be the "blind zooms". Therefore, fixation data collected using HMD-based methods that accumulate local views cannot accurately represent the overall global importance - the main purpose of fixations - of complex panoptic scenes. To conquer, this paper introduces the auxiliary window with a dynamic blurring (WinDB) fixation collection approach for panoptic video, which doesn't need HMD and is able to well reflect the regional-wise importance degree. Using our WinDB approach, we have released a new PanopticVideo-300 dataset, containing 300 panoptic clips covering over 225 categories. Specifically, since using WinDB to collect fixations is blind zoom free, there exists frequent and intensive "fixation shifting" - a very special phenomenon that has long been overlooked by the previous research - in our new set. Thus, we present an effective fixation shifting network (FishNet) to conquer it. All these new fixation collection tool, dataset, and network could be very potential to open a new age for fixation-related research and applications in 360o environments.

MPMNet: A Data-Driven MPM Framework for Dynamic Fluid-Solid Interaction

High-accuracy, high-efficiency physics-based fluid-solid interaction is essential for reality modeling and computer animation in online games or real-time Virtual Reality (VR) systems. However, the large-scale simulation of incompressible fluid and its interaction with the surrounding solid environment is either time-consuming or suffering from the reduced time/space resolution due to the complicated iterative nature pertinent to numerical computations of involved Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). In recent years, we have witnessed significant growth in exploring a different, alternative data-driven approach to addressing some of the existing technical challenges in conventional model-centric graphics and animation methods. This paper showcases some of our exploratory efforts in this direction. One technical concern of our research is to address the central key challenge of how to best construct the numerical solver effectively and how to best integrate spatiotemporal/dimensional neural networks with the available MPM's pressure solvers.

Pixel is All You Need: Adversarial Trajectory-Ensemble Active Learning for Salient Object Detection

Although weakly-supervised techniques can reduce the labeling effort, it is unclear whether a saliency model trained with weakly-supervised data (e.g., point annotation) can achieve the equivalent performance of its fully-supervised version. This paper attempts to answer this unexplored question by proving a hypothesis: there is a point-labeled dataset where saliency models trained on it can achieve equivalent performance when trained on the densely annotated dataset. To prove this conjecture, we proposed a novel yet effective adversarial trajectory-ensemble active learning (ATAL). Our contributions are three-fold: 1) Our proposed adversarial attack triggering uncertainty can conquer the overconfidence of existing active learning methods and accurately locate these uncertain pixels. {2)} Our proposed trajectory-ensemble uncertainty estimation method maintains the advantages of the ensemble networks while significantly reducing the computational cost. {3)} Our proposed relationship-aware diversity sampling algorithm can conquer oversampling while boosting performance. Experimental results show that our ATAL can find such a point-labeled dataset, where a saliency model trained on it obtained $97\%$ -- $99\%$ performance of its fully-supervised version with only ten annotated points per image.

Salient Object Detection via Dynamic Scale Routing

Recent research advances in salient object detection (SOD) could largely be attributed to ever-stronger multi-scale feature representation empowered by the deep learning technologies. The existing SOD deep models extract multi-scale features via the off-the-shelf encoders and combine them smartly via various delicate decoders. However, the kernel sizes in this commonly-used thread are usually "fixed". In our new experiments, we have observed that kernels of small size are preferable in scenarios containing tiny salient objects. In contrast, large kernel sizes could perform better for images with large salient objects. Inspired by this observation, we advocate the "dynamic" scale routing (as a brand-new idea) in this paper. It will result in a generic plug-in that could directly fit the existing feature backbone. This paper's key technical innovations are two-fold. First, instead of using the vanilla convolution with fixed kernel sizes for the encoder design, we propose the dynamic pyramid convolution (DPConv), which dynamically selects the best-suited kernel sizes w.r.t. the given input. Second, we provide a self-adaptive bidirectional decoder design to accommodate the DPConv-based encoder best. The most significant highlight is its capability of routing between feature scales and their dynamic collection, making the inference process scale-aware. As a result, this paper continues to enhance the current SOTA performance. Both the code and dataset are publicly available at https://github.com/wuzhenyubuaa/DPNet.

Synthetic Data Supervised Salient Object Detection

Although deep salient object detection (SOD) has achieved remarkable progress, deep SOD models are extremely data-hungry, requiring large-scale pixel-wise annotations to deliver such promising results. In this paper, we propose a novel yet effective method for SOD, coined SODGAN, which can generate infinite high-quality image-mask pairs requiring only a few labeled data, and these synthesized pairs can replace the human-labeled DUTS-TR to train any off-the-shelf SOD model. Its contribution is three-fold. 1) Our proposed diffusion embedding network can address the manifold mismatch and is tractable for the latent code generation, better matching with the ImageNet latent space. 2) For the first time, our proposed few-shot saliency mask generator can synthesize infinite accurate image synchronized saliency masks with a few labeled data. 3) Our proposed quality-aware discriminator can select highquality synthesized image-mask pairs from noisy synthetic data pool, improving the quality of synthetic data. For the first time, our SODGAN tackles SOD with synthetic data directly generated from the generative model, which opens up a new research paradigm for SOD. Extensive experimental results show that the saliency model trained on synthetic data can achieve $98.4\%$ F-measure of the saliency model trained on the DUTS-TR. Moreover, our approach achieves a new SOTA performance in semi/weakly-supervised methods, and even outperforms several fully-supervised SOTA methods. Code is available at https://github.com/wuzhenyubuaa/SODGAN

Weakly Supervised Visual-Auditory Fixation Prediction with Multigranularity Perception

Thanks to the rapid advances in deep learning techniques and the wide availability of large-scale training sets, the performance of video saliency detection models has been improving steadily and significantly. However, deep learning-based visualaudio fixation prediction is still in its infancy. At present, only a few visual-audio sequences have been furnished, with real fixations being recorded in real visual-audio environments. Hence, it would be neither efficient nor necessary to recollect real fixations under the same visual-audio circumstances. To address this problem, this paper promotes a novel approach in a weakly supervised manner to alleviate the demand of large-scale training sets for visual-audio model training. By using only the video category tags, we propose the selective class activation mapping (SCAM) and its upgrade (SCAM+). In the spatial-temporal-audio circumstance, the former follows a coarse-to-fine strategy to select the most discriminative regions, and these regions are usually capable of exhibiting high consistency with the real human-eye fixations. The latter equips the SCAM with an additional multi-granularity perception mechanism, making the whole process more consistent with that of the real human visual system. Moreover, we distill knowledge from these regions to obtain complete new spatial-temporal-audio (STA) fixation prediction (FP) networks, enabling broad applications in cases where video tags are not available. Without resorting to any real human-eye fixation, the performances of these STA FP networks are comparable to those of fully supervised networks. The code and results are publicly available at https://github.com/guotaowang/STANet.
