Nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations with a critical, inverse-square potential

We study the existence of solutions of the following nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation $$ -\Delta u+V(x)u-\frac{(N-2)^2}{4|x|^2}u=f(x,u) $$ where $V:\mathbb{R}^N\to\mathbb{R}$ and $f:\mathbb{R}^N\times \mathbb{R}\to \mathbb{R}$ are periodic with respect to $x\in\mathbb{R}^N.$ We assume that $V$ has positive essential infimum, $f$ satisfies weak growth conditions and $N\geq 3$. The approach to the problem uses variational methods with nonstandard functional setting. We obtain the existence of the ground state solution using the new profile decomposition.

Semiclassical states for the curl-curl problem

We show the existence of the so-called semiclassical states $\mathbf{U}:\mathbb{R}^3\to\mathbb{R}^3$ to the following curl-curl problem $$ \varepsilon^2\; \nabla \times (\nabla \times \mathbf{U}) + V(x) \mathbf{U} = g(\mathbf{U}), $$ for sufficiently small $\varepsilon > 0$. We study the asymptotic behaviour of solutions as $\varepsilon\to 0^+$ and we investigate also a related nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation involving a singular potential. The problem models large permeability nonlinear materials satisfying the system of Maxwell equations.

Elliptic problems with mixed nonlinearities and potentials singular at the origin and at the boundary of the domain

We are interested in the following Dirichlet problem $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} -\Delta u + \lambda u - \mu \frac{u}{|x|^2} - \nu \frac{u}{\mathrm{dist}\,(x,\mathbb{R}^N \setminus \Omega)^2} = f(x,u) & \quad \mbox{in } \Omega \\ u = 0 & \quad \mbox{on } \partial \Omega, \end{array} \right. $$ on a bounded domain $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^N$ with $0 \in \Omega$. We assume that the nonlinear part is superlinear on some closed subset $K \subset \Omega$ and asymptotically linear on $\Omega \setminus K$. We find a solution with the energy bounded by a certain min-max level, and infinitely many solutions provided that $f$ is odd in $u$. Moreover we study also the multiplicity of solutions to the associated normalized problem.
