Randomized Tensor Krylov Subspace Methods via Sketched Einstein Product with Applications to Image and Video Restoration

We develop a randomized extension of tensor Krylov subspace methods based on the Einstein product for solving large-scale multilinear systems arising in image and video restoration. The classical tensor global GMRES method relies on Frobenius inner products and full tensor orthogonalization, which become computationally expensive for high-dimensional problems. We introduce a sketched Einstein inner product constructed via mode-wise random projections and develop a randomized tensor global Arnoldi process. The resulting Randomized Tensor Global GMRES (RTG-GMRES) method significantly reduces orthogonalization cost while preserving convergence properties under tensor subspace embedding assumptions. Residual bounds, perturbation analysis and projected Tikhonov regularization are derived. The proposed method provides an efficient framework for solving ill-posed multidimensional problems arising in color image and video restoration.

A randomized global GMRES method for matrix equations

In this paper, we develop a new Randomized Global Generalized Minimum Residual (RGlGMRES) algorithm for efficiently computing solutions to large scale linear systems with multiple right hand sides. The proposed method builds on a recently developed randomized global Gram Schmidt process, in which sketched Frobenius inner products are employed to approximate the exact Frobenius inner products of high dimensional matrices. We give some new convergence results of the RGlGMRES method for multiple linear systems. In the case where the coefficient matrix A is diagonalizable, we derive new upper bounds for the randomized Frobenius norm of the residual. In this paper, we study how to introduce matrix sketching in this algorithm. It allows us to reduce the dimension of the problem in one of the main steps of the algorithm. We also show how to apply the RGlGMRES method for solving the Lyapunov matrix equation. To validate the effectiveness and practicality of this approach, we conduct several numerical experiments, which demonstrate that our RGlGMRES method is competitive with the global GMRES method for solving large scale multiple linear systems and Lyapunov matrix equation.

A new class of regularized preconditioners for double saddle-point problems

The block structure of double saddle-point problems has prompted extensive research into efficient preconditioners. This paper introduces a novel class of three-by-three block preconditioners tailored for such systems from the time-dependent Maxwell equations or liquid crystal director modeling. The main motivation of this work is to highlight the limitations of recent preconditioners under high Reynolds numbers, as the original studies did not explore this scenario, and to demonstrate that our preconditioner outperforms the existing ones in such regimes. We thoroughly analyze the convergence and spectral properties of the proposed preocnditioner. We illustrate the efficiency of the proposed preconditioners, and verify the theoretical bounds.

New preconditioner strategy for solving block four-by-four linear systems: An application to the saddle-point problem from 3D Stokes equation

We have presented a fast method for solving a specific type of block four-by-four saddlepoint problem arising from the finite element discretization of the generalized 3D Stokes problem. We analyze the eigenvalue distribution and the eigenvectors of the preconditioned matrix. Furthermore, we suggested utilizing the preconditioned global conjugate gradient method (PGCG) as a block iterative solver for handling multiple right-hand sides within the sub-system and give some new convergence results. Numerical experiments have shown that our preconditioned iterative approach is very efficient for solving the 3D Stokes problem
