Two-Loop Four-Fermion Scattering Amplitude in QED

We present the analytic evaluation of the two-loop corrections to the amplitude for the scattering of four fermions in Quantum Electrodynamics, $f^- + f^+ + F^- + F^+ \to 0$, with $f$ and $F$ representing a massless and a massive lepton, respectively. Dimensional regularization is employed to evaluate the loop integrals. Ultraviolet divergences are removed by renormalizing the coupling constant in the ${\overline{\text{MS}}}$-scheme, and the lepton mass as well as the external fields in the on-shell scheme. The analytic result for the renormalized amplitude is expressed as Laurent series around $d=4$ space-time dimensions, and contains Generalized Polylogarithms with up to weight four. The structure of the residual infrared divergences of the virtual amplitude is in agreement with the prediction of the Soft Collinear Effective Theory. Our analytic results are an essential ingredient for the computation of the scattering cross section for massive fermion-pair production in massless fermion-pair annihilation, i.e. $f^- f^+ \to F^- F^+$, and crossing related processes such as the elastic scattering $f F \to f F$, with up to Next-to-Next to Leading Order accuracy.

The three-loop singlet contribution to the massless axial-vector quark form factor

We compute the three-loop corrections to the quark axial vector form factor in massless QCD, focusing on the pure-singlet contributions where the axial vector current couples to a closed quark loop. Employing the Larin prescription for $\gamma_5$, we discuss the UV renormalization of the form factor. The infrared singularity structure of the resulting singlet axial-vector form factor is explained from infrared factorization, defining a finite remainder function.

Frequency-dependent time decay of Schr\"odinger flows

We show that the presence of negative eigenvalues in the spectrum of the angular component of an electromagnetic Schr\"odinger hamiltonian $H$ generically produces a lack of the classical time-decay for the associated Schr\"odinger flow $e^{-itH}$. This is in contrast with the fact that dispersive estimates (Strichartz) still hold, in general, also in this case. We also observe an improvement of the decay for higher positive modes, showing that the time decay of the solution is due to the first nonzero term in the expansion of the initial datum as a series of eigenfunctions of a quantum harmonic oscillator with a singular potential. A completely analogous phenomenon is shown for the heat semigroup, as expected.
