Consistency of spectroscopic factors from (e,e'p) reactions at different momentum transfers

Abstract

The possibility to extract relevant information on spectroscopic factors from (e,e$'$p) reactions at high $Q^2$ is studied. Recent ${}^{16}$O(e,e$'$p) data at $Q^2 = 0.8$ (GeV/$c)^2$ are compared to a theoretical approach which includes an eikonal description of the final-state interaction of the proton, a microscopic nuclear matter calculation of the damping of this proton, and high-quality quasihole wave functions for $p$-shell nucleons in ${}^{16}{\rm O}$. Good agreement with the $Q^2 = 0.8$ (GeV/$c)^2$ data is obtained when spectroscopic factors are employed which are identical to those required to describe earlier low $Q^2$ experiments.

Longitudinal $Λ$ polarization as a competition between freeze-out geometry and elliptic flow in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=5.36\,\mathrm{TeV}$

The second sine harmonic $\Pz$ of longitudinal $Λ$ polarization is sensitive to the balance between the kinematic-vorticity contribution $\Pz^ω$ and the kinematic-shear contribution $\Pz^Ξ$ at decoupling. We quantify this competition in a scan of 48 Pb-Pb initial states evolved with the (3+1)-dimensional Particle-In-Cell Relativistic (PICR) ideal-hydrodynamic code. With the isothermal local-equilibrium (ILE) prescription, the total harmonic follows $\Pz\simeq a\,\efo-b\,v_2$, with $a\simeq0.010$ and $b\simeq0.014$, where $\efo$ is the freeze-out eccentricity and $v_2$ the elliptic flow of $Λ$ hyperons. With coefficients fixed on these 48 states, the relation describes 86\% of the variation of $\Pz$ in 12 states outside the fit. To identify the origin of the two terms, we decompose the ILE integrand exactly into an emission-gradient term and a curl term. On the PICR decoupling surfaces, the tangential emission gradient is positive on average, correlates most strongly with $\efo$, and admits a surface-curvature representation, whereas the normal emission gradient and the curl term are negative on average and correlate most strongly with $v_2$. A blast-wave calculation with the same integrand gives coefficients of comparable magnitude and shows how the cancellation point $\efo/v_2=b/a$ changes with the flow and the surface geometry; both PICR and blast-wave calculations predict that $b/a$ rises with hadron mass from the proton to the $Ω$ when the decoupling surface is held fixed. Although the geometry inferred from ALICE data depends on the background, the measured polarization constrains the displacement of $\efo$ from the cancellation boundary $\efo=(b/a)v_2$. For the central ALICE measurement values at $5.36\,\mathrm{TeV}$, the backgrounds examined give $\efo\simeq0.2$--$0.4$ in 30--50\% Pb-Pb collisions.

$NΛ$ interaction from a quark model: $pΛ$ femtoscopy and the hypertriton

Understanding the low-energy nucleon--$Λ$ interaction is essential for describing hypernuclear structures, while its spin dependence remains insufficiently constrained by experimental data. In this work, we investigate the $NΛ$ interaction using the quark delocalization color screening model and explore its implications for $pΛ$ femtoscopy and the hypertriton. The energy and scattering phase shifts of the $NΛ$ system are calculated, revealing weak attraction in both the $J^P=0^+$ and $1^+$ channels, but no bound states. The corresponding scattering lengths and effective ranges are found to be $-2.36$ fm and $1.61$ fm for $J^P=0^+$, and $-0.95$ fm and $1.46$ fm for $J^P=1^+$, respectively. Using the Gel'fand--Levitan--Marchenko inverse-scattering method, effective $NΛ$ potentials are reconstructed from the coupled-channel scattering phase shifts and applied to calculate the $pΛ$ femtoscopic correlation function. Comparison with experimental data suggests that the spin-triplet attraction may be underestimated in the present model. Furthermore, employing the Gaussian Expansion Method, we investigate the $NNΛ$ three-body system and obtain a weakly bound hypertriton with a $Λ$ separation energy of $1.06$--$1.16$ MeV. These results demonstrate that $pΛ$ femtoscopic correlations and hypertriton binding provide complementary probes of the spin-dependent $NΛ$ interaction, offering valuable constraints on its low-energy behavior.

Radiative corrections to the parity-violating spin asymmetry

The parity-violating spin asymmetry Apv for elastic electron scattering from spin-zero nuclei, together with its QED corrections, is evaluated non-perturbatively within the phase-shift analysis. Dispersion corrections, taking into account low-lying transient nuclear excitations, are estimated with the help of the lowest-order $γZ$ box diagrams. Collision energies between 5 $-$ 500 MeV are considered, and results are provided for the $^{12}$C and $^{208}$Pb target nuclei. In addition, we have evaluated Apv at GeV energies and small scattering angles -- relevant for the Pb Radius Experiment (PREx) -- revealing that the low-lying nuclear excited states give no measurable dispersive contribution. However, they are important at lower energies and backward angles.
