Discrete transformation for matrix 3-waves problem in three dimensional space

Abstract

Discrete transformation for 3- waves problem is constructed in explicit form. Generalization of this system on the matrix case in three dimensional space together with corresponding discrete transformation is presented also.

Painlevé Integrability, Hamiltonian Structure and Exact Elliptic Reductions of a Generalized Nonlinear Wave Equation

We study the polynomial generalized Korteweg--de Vries family \[ u_t+P_m(u)u_x+κu_{xxx}=0,\qquad κ\neq0, \] where $P_m$ is a real polynomial of degree $m\ge1$. The purpose is not to generate isolated closed-form waves, but to identify the structural threshold at which pole-type Painlevé behavior and elliptic traveling-wave geometry are simultaneously lost. A Weiss--Tabor--Carnevale dominant-balance calculation gives the universal principal exponent $p=-2/m$. Hence only $m=1$ and $m=2$ can possess a principal Laurent branch with integer pole order; their resonance sets are respectively $\{-1,4,6\}$ and $\{-1,3,4\}$. These two sectors are, after affine and Galilean transformations, the KdV and modified KdV equations, so their compatibility conditions and complete-integrability structures are inherited from the classical hierarchies. In contrast, every degree $m\ge3$ has a fractional leading exponent and therefore fails the strong WTC pole criterion at the first step. The results provide a concise bridge between singularity analysis, Hamiltonian form, algebraic-curve genus and exact nonlinear waves.

A Lax representation, symmetries, and conservation laws for the three-dimensional Euler--Helmholtz equations

We consider the three-dimensional Euler--Helmholtz equations for an inviscid incompressible fluid. Under the Poincar{é} lemma assumption, the incompressibility condition is resolved by introducing a vector potential, leading to a vorticity-type reformulation of the system. The main result is the construction of a Lax representation for the obtained system. We compute the Lie algebra of point symmetries and find the zeroth-order cosymmetries together with the associated local conservation laws. Using the Lax representation, we derive a shadow of cosymmetry and find nonlocal conservation laws using the construction of the canonical conservation law on the Whitney sum of the tangent and the cotangent coverings. Finally, we establish a Bäcklund transformation between the tangent and the cotangent coverings and describe its action on symmetries and cosymmetries.

Rogue-like waves from collision of mKdV solitons

Interactions of two solitary waves with an up and a down orientation in the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation are shown to produce rogue-like waves. For waves that asymptotically vanish, the maximum ratio between the height of the interaction profile and the height of the tallest incoming wave is 2.41 when the waves have approximately equal speeds, and this ratio decreases to 2 when the speed ratio is 1.5. For waves that approach a non-zero constant at infinity, the same ratio reaches a maximum of 2.65 when the speed ratio of the waves is 6.32.
