Light-Cone Expansion of the Dirac Sea with Light Cone Integrals

Abstract

The Dirac sea is calculated in an expansion around the light cone. The method is to analyze the perturbation expansion for the Dirac sea in position space. This leads to integrals over expressions containing distributions which are singular on the light cone. We derive asymptotic formulas for these "light cone integrals" in terms of line integrals over the external potential and its partial derivatives. The calculations are based on the perturbation expansion for the Dirac sea in the preprint gr-qc/9606040 and yield the formulas listed in the appendix of this preprint. The results can be obtained easier with a combination of calculations in position and momentum space (see the corresponding preprints on the hep-th server). Therefore the calculations are preliminary and will remain unpublished; they are intended as reference for people who encounter similar mathematical problems.

Tensor Products of Fell Bundles over Groups

We extend the theory of tensor products of C*-algebras to the larger category of Fell bundles over locally compact groups. We prove that, like in the case of C*-algebras, there exist maximal and minimal tensor products. Given two Fell bundles, we compare the tensor products of their cross-sectional algebras with the cross-sectional algebras of their tensor products. As applications we prove that, under certain conditions, the cross-sectional C*-algebra of a Fell bundle is nuclear or exact whenever so is its fiber over the unit element of the group.

Isomorphism classes for quantum Heisenberg manifolds

We embed the quantum Heisenberg manifold in a crossed product algebra. This enables us to show that, in the irrational case, all tracial states on $\dc$ induce the same homomorphism on the K_0-group. We conclude that two irrational quantum Heisenberg manifolds $\dc$ and $D^c_{μ' ν'}$ are isomorphic if and only if the parameters $(μ,ν)$ and $(μ',ν')$ belong to the same orbit under the usual action of $GL_2(\ZZ)$ on the torus.

Quantum Mechanics and Operator algebras on the Hilbert ball

Cirelli, Manià and Pizzocchero generalized quantum mechanics by Kähler geometry. Furthermore they proved that any unital C$^{*}$-algebra is represented as a function algebra on the set of pure states with a noncommutative $*$-product as an application. The ordinary quantum mechanics is regarded as a dynamical system of the projective Hilbert space ${\cal P}({\cal H})$ of a Hilbert space ${\cal H}$. The space ${\cal P}({\cal H})$ is an infinite dimensional Kähler manifold of positive constant holomorphic sectional curvature. In general, such dynamical system is constructed for a general Kähler manifold of nonzero constant holomorphic sectional curvature $c$. The Hilbert ball $B_{\cal H}$ is defined by the open unit ball in ${\cal H}$ and it is a Kähler manifold with $c<0$. We introduce the quantum mechanics on $B_{\cal H}$. As an application, we show the structure of the noncommutative function algebra on $B_{\cal H}$.
