Properly embedded Legendrian surfaces in the tangent sphere bundle of hyperbolic space

Abstract

We show that every open Riemann surface may be conformally properly embedded in the tangent sphere bundle of hyperbolic $3$-space as a Legendrian surface. We achieve this by constructing proper holomorphic Legendrian embeddings in $\mathrm{SL}_2 (\mathbb{C})$ whose projections to the quotient $\mathrm{SL}_2 (\mathbb{C})/ \mathrm{U}_1$ remain embeddings. As another consequence, every open Riemann surface admits a proper holomorphic Legendrian embedding in the projectivised special linear group $\mathrm{PSL}_2 (\mathbb{C})$.

On $q$-convex hypersurfaces in Riemannian manifolds

We prove that any closed, convex hypersurface in an $(n+1)$-dimensional Riemannian manifold with $\lceil \frac{n}{2} \rceil$-positive curvature operator is a rational homology sphere with finite fundamental group. The same conclusion holds for any $\lceil \frac{n}{2} \rceil$-convex hypersurface, provided that the mean curvature satisfies a sharp pinching condition. Both results follow from more general vanishing and estimation theorems for the Betti numbers of closed $q$-convex immersed hypersurfaces in $(n+1)$-dimensional Riemannian manifolds, under a lower bound on the average of the smallest $(n-p)$ eigenvalues of the curvature operator.

Examples of topological sphere $λ$-self-expander

A $λ$-self-expander $F: M^n\to \mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ is the solution of the isoperimetric problem of weight $e^{\frac{|x|^2}{4}}$. In this paper, for sufficiently large $λ$, we construct an immersed non-embedded spherical $λ$-self-expander in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ with the mean curvature $H>0$. Moreover, we obtain the explicit solution for $n=2$.

$O(3)$-symmetry of four-dimensional steady Ricci solitons

We prove that a complete connected four-dimensional gradient steady Ricci soliton with positive curvature operator that is $κ$-noncollapsed at all scales admits an effective isometric $O(3)$ action preserving the potential function and having principal orbits diffeomorphic to $S^2$.
