Extended Hydrodynamics of Planar Heisenberg Ferromagnetic Systems

Abstract

Access to hydro and quasi-hydro regimes in magnetic systems is steadily increasing with the advances in fabrication of clean materials, and motivates study of hydrodynamics beyond conventional regimes and probe non-equilibrium transport. We employ the framework of extended irreversible thermodynamics which includes dynamical dissipative currents as quasi-hydro variables, and effect the modified hydrodynamic equations suitable to describe planar Heisenberg ferromagnetic systems in both paramagnetic and ferromagnetic phases. We show that the new transport coefficients and relaxation time scales introduced by quasi-hydro variables can engineer diverse combination of dispersion relations and provide control over the nature of hydrodynamic modes. For instance, we can change the diffusive energy mode into propagating one in multiple ways, including by tuning the relaxation time of magnetization current.

Weakly Nonlinear Analysis of Jammed Solids

We investigate the structural evolution in jammed solids by analyzing the eigenmodes of a generalized Hessian matrix that incorporates spatial modulation via wave numbers. Unlike the conventional Hessian, this generalized formulation captures linearly unstable modes through a Fourier-based extension of the Hessian matrix, enabling us to study responses beyond the mechanically stable regime. We demonstrate that the excitation of unstable eigenmodes leads to structural rearrangements independent of the initial perturbation by the simulation. Furthermore, we derive a weakly nonlinear amplitude equation to describe the growth and saturation of these unstable modes, analogous to the Landau equation. Our framework provides a pathway to understand instability-driven configuration changes in disordered solids.

Closed analytical form of many-body free volume and thermodynamics of monodisperse hard disks

The hard disk model is a fundamental reference system for excluded volume physics, liquid structure, and 2D ordering. Yet, despite its apparent simplicity, an analytical formulation of its thermodynamics has remained difficult because the free volume available to disks centers has a highly nontrivial many-body geometry. Here we show that this geometry admits a closed and exact representation: for any given hard disk configuration, the free volume can be analytically expressed through intersection areas of up to five exclusion disks. This provides a direct geometrical route from particle coordinates to the configurational partition function and entropy. We prove that the N disk partition function factorizes into a product of conditional free volumes and identify its two limiting asymptotic forms: the low density fluid regime controlled by extensive cavities and the high density fluid regime controlled by intensive private cells. Using the geometric measures computed from representative equilibrium particle configurations, the resulting theory reproduces the established hard disk equation of state over almost the entire density range up to close packing. At intermediate densities, the analysis reveals a mixed fluid regime in which localized caged defects provide an additional configurational entropy within the density interval preceding liquid hexatic coexistence. Finally, the five disk intersection area is shown to be a sensitive local scalar measure of hexagonal ordering, complementing the orientational order parameter and emphasizing the central role of many-body correlations.

Universal Boolean Computation in Negatively Coupled Circle Map Lattices

We investigate the computational capabilities of a one-dimensional lattice of negatively coupled circle maps in its traveling wave regime. We interpret propagating waves as information carriers and exploit their interactions to implement Boolean logic. The logical states are encoded by the propagation direction of the traveling waves, while the presence or absence of a wave at a designated output location represents the logical output. Using controlled wave collisions, we demonstrate the realization of NAND and NOR gates along with other basic gates. Since NAND and NOR operations are functionally complete, the results establish that the traveling wave regime of the negatively coupled circle-map lattice supports universal Boolean computation in principle. The demonstrated logical operations remain valid over a finite range of the coupling strength εand map parameter ω, indicating robustness of the computational scheme to parameter variations. Our results therefore demonstrate that computational functionality can emerge from the collective nonlinear dynamics of a coupled map lattice, providing a con- nection between the dynamical properties of traveling wave states and collision based information processing.
