What if dark matter is composite of least interacting particles?
Abstract
In this work, we investigate the possibility that Dark Matter contains particles that interact with known matter only through gravity, the least interacting particles (LIPs). Specifically, we consider the case of a dark Proca vector field, which does not mix in the kinetic term with any of the vector bosons of the Standard Model if a discrete symmetry (Z2 ) is imposed. Breaking this symmetry introduces kinetic mixing. Here, we study two realization mechanisms, namely kinetic mixing with the electromagnetic field after electroweak symmetry breaking (Scenario A) and kinetic mixing with the weak hypercharge gauge field (Scenario B). We also consider generalized kinetic terms that violate parity and time-reversal symmetries.
