Magnetic-field dependence of the QCD electric screening mass parameter through $g^4$ in hot and dense matter

Abstract

A constant magnetic field modifies the hard electric screening sector of hot and dense QCD and generates a directional splitting at $\mathcal{O}(g^4)$. We determine the strict-hard screening pole through $g^4$ for three massless flavors with physical $u,d,s$ charges, retaining the full $eB/T^2$ dependence without a weak- or strong-field expansion. The shifted-frequency construction used for the two-loop exchange contribution is a background-field Feynman-gauge curvature; we derive and apply its local conversion to the ordinary Feynman-gauge self-energy before assembling the screening pole. The leading magnetic shift is isotropic, while the $g^4$ directional splitting arises from the one-loop anisotropic kinetic normalization; the symmetry-allowed finite-density $A_0F_{12}$ mixing is numerically small over the studied range for physical $u,d,s$ charges. For $μ/T=0$ and $1$, the magnetic $g^4$ coefficient is positive over $0\le eB/T^2\le4$ and is strongly reduced by density. Extending the calculation to $0\leμ/T\le2$ at $eB/T^2=1$ and $4$ reveals sign reversals of both the leading magnetic coefficient and the directional splitting at sufficiently large density. The zero-field limit reproduces the Braaten-Nieto result and its finite-density extension by Vuorinen. The running coupling used only for the phenomenological magnetic mass shift is chosen independently of $B$, so that all magnetic-field dependence through $g^4$ resides in the calculated coefficients.

Exceptional Jordan spectra and conditional fermion mass relations

We formulate a conditional fermion-mass ansatz motivated by the exceptional Jordan algebra, separating its geometric order parameters from the physical chiral matter representation. A real coassociative octonionic configuration has Jordan spectrum $(s-δ,s,s+δ)$; the choice $δ^2=3/8$ specifies its normalization rather than a derived physical mass scale. An explicit compression of a positive operator on $Sym^3(C^3)$ reproduces the proposed quark mass formulas for stated weight selections. The selected three-dimensional spaces are not $SU(3)$ subrepresentations, and the charged-lepton formulas require an additional cross-sector transport rule. Eliminating the spectral parameter yields exact consistency relations, including $\sqrt{m_c/m_u}=2\sqrt{m_t/m_c}-1$. A common-scale comparison using a published 2026 Standard-Model running-Yukawa analysis, supplemented by PDG 2026 checks, exhibits substantial discrepancies. In particular, the up-sector relation fails at the electroweak benchmark even when $δ$ is released. We identify the interaction, localization and kinetic-normalization data needed to derive or modify the ansatz. The construction retains a geometric interpretation but establishes neither three generations inside a single $E_6$ representation $27$ nor a precision explanation of the measured fermion masses.

High-Energy Evolution of Power-Suppressed Amplitudes

We present a new class of evolution equations which govern the high-energy behavior of power-suppressed scattering amplitudes. The equations can be viewed as a renormalization group flow with respect to the relevant effective field theory cutoff. A distinct feature of the method is in the use of a multidimensional cutoff to separate the relevant scales in problems characterized by a complex factorization structure. By adjusting the renormalization group variables to the geometry of the effective theory modes, our method naturally extends to a broad spectrum of physical problems including massive, massless, small, and wide angle scattering. We present applications to the benchmark processes of electron-positron forward annihilation and light quark mediated Higgs boson production/decays.

Direct Detection of Leptophobic Dark Matter with Electronic Collective Excitations

Some new-generation dark matter detection experiments are primarily designed to search for the dark matter-electron interactions, but they can also be utilized to probe models in which dark matter couples exclusively to nucleon via the quantum effects. The hadronic loop-induced interactions can directly excite plasmons in semiconductors, thereby providing an additional channel for detecting the leptophobic dark matter. In this work, we investigate plasmon excitations in silicon detectors induced by boosted dark matter and cosmic-ray up-scattering dark matter via the hadronic loop process. By analyzing the available experimental data, we derive new exclusion limits on the leptophobic dark matter-nucleon scattering cross section in the sub-MeV mass range.
