U(1) Current Diffusion in Gauss-Bonnet Holography

Abstract

We study holographic $U(1)$ charge transport using a probe Maxwell field in a five-dimensional Gauss-Bonnet-AdS black-brane background. Within the all-order linearised fluid/gravity framework, we derive the off-shell constitutive relation and determine the diffusion function and electric and magnetic conductivities analytically in the hydrodynamic regime and numerically at generic frequency and momentum. To first order in the Gauss-Bonnet coupling, the leading diffusion constant remains unchanged in our normalization, while its frequency dependence and the electric conductivity receive nontrivial corrections. The deformation also generates a nonvanishing leading magnetic conductivity. Beyond the hydrodynamic regime, it modifies the transport profiles while preserving the damped behaviour of the diffusion function. The corresponding memory kernel vanishes at negative times, supporting a retarded constitutive response.

Brane expansions for anti-symmetric line operator index

Based on the D5-brane realization of Wilson line operators in anti-symmetric representations, we propose brane expansion formulas for $I_{N,k}$, the Schur index of ${\cal N}=4$ $U(N)$ SYM decorated by line operators in the anti-symmetric representation of rank $k$. For the large $N$ index $I_{\infty,k}$ we propose a double-sum expansion, and for finite $N$ index $I_{N,k}$ we propose a quadruple-sum expansion. Objects causing finite $k$ and finite $N$ corrections are disk D3-branes ending on the D5-brane.

Holographic free energy and integrated correlators of ${\cal N}=1^*$ theory

We consider the 2nd integrated correlators of ${\cal N}=4$, $D=4$ super Yang-Mills theory, especially those which can be associated with ${\cal N}=1^*$ mass-deformed theories. We provide an analytic derivation of the integrals at supergravity tree level, which has not been available so far. Our result agrees with the previous results from the study of BPS solutions in the dual supergravity models.

Symmetries, anomalies, and dualities of two-dimensional Non-Linear Sigma Models

We analyse the global symmetry structure of two-dimensional Non-Linear Sigma Models with Wess-Zumino term. When the target space has a compact isometry without fixed points, the theory has a pair of (group-like) global symmetries and many such theories also have non-invertible symmetries. We describe how the topology of the target space and Wess-Zumino term determine whether the group-like symmetries are continuous or discrete, and study their pure and mixed 't Hooft anomalies. We also revisit the construction of the non-invertible symmetries, which are associated with possible self-dualities under discrete gauging, and show how the global symmetry structure is left invariant by this gauging.
