Sharp thresholds and convergence for a nonlocal bistable equation
Abstract
We study $u_t=J*u-u+f(u)$ on $\R^d$ with a bistable reaction and radial nonincreasing probability kernels. Under the stated hypotheses, every solution from compactly supported data between zero and one converges to zero, locally to one, or to a single nonzero decaying stationary state. At every nonzero decaying stationary state between zero and one, we assume either nondegeneracy up to translations or analyticity of the reaction near the closure of the state's range. Decaying limits are strictly radially decreasing, with centers in the initial support's closed convex hull. For $u_0=\mathbf1_{B_R}$, we give explicit threshold bounds; analyticity near $[0,1]$ yields a unique critical radius with a nonzero stationary limit.
