Hidden Perturbative Structure in Attosecond Streaking
Abstract
Attosecond streaking is inherently multiphoton, yet we uncover a hidden perturbative structure revealing the underlying continuum--continuum angular-momentum propensity. By filtering the inversion-odd response in helium streaking data at the IR fundamental, we isolate an angular distribution dominated by the $P_1$ and $P_3$ Legendre components, whose complex coefficients yield an effective $s/d$ two-photon amplitude ratio. Multichannel, two-electron time-dependent Schrödinger equation calculations demonstrate that the characteristic Fano propensity survives electron correlation. Incorporating the experimental XUV attochirp reproduces the measured emission-edge trend, while near-threshold calculations predict resonant amplitude and phase signatures associated with the bound He $np$ Rydberg series. This symmetry- and frequency-filtering approach offers a general spectroscopic framework with potential applications to atomic, molecular, and solid-state systems where attosecond streaking is established.
